What’s Everyone Up To For NYE?

As usual the week since Christmas has flown by & here we are again on the last day of the year. Is anyone doing much? For the last few years we have stayed at home, especially since having the bunnies as we need to bring them indoors because of the fireworks. DH & I are having sirloin steaks, chips, peas, breaded garlic mushrooms & ( for me) peppercorn sauce & I’m going to buy champagne from Aldi. DD14 hasn’t decided what she wants to eat yet. Probably McDonald’s. We’ll watch a film then Big Ben at midnight & the fireworks. Used to watch Love Actually but it’s a Christmas movie so we watch it on Christmas Eve or a couple of days after. Used to have big parties when I lived with my parents & we’d inherited a grand piano so ended up round that. Or I’d go clubbing & crawl in starving at 2am. I remember cooking loads of chicken nuggets & dipping them in guacamole - taste sensation!
Whatever you’re doing, Happy New Year!!

Fuck all! Was meant to be working but have flu and a chest infection. No energy, and coughing too hard to sleep

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 31/12/2022 08:24

I've never been big on New Year, I'll be spending it at home with DH and DD7 and DD15, eldest DD is going out with her friends.
We'll have a takeaway and a few drinks then bed after Big Ben.
Happy Nee Year whatever you're doing

Playing board games, drinking champagne and whatever fizzy drink DS wants.
We’ll probably have KFC but yet to be discussed.

Needthisjob · 31/12/2022 08:43

Spending it alone in bed as I've done for every year for too bloody long.

Ragwort · 31/12/2022 08:45

Nice meal at home with DH ... wine and champagne... but he usually goes to bed before midnight .. I like to see the New Year in Grin.

TerfOnATrain · 31/12/2022 08:47

We’ve bought seafood. Staying in and delighted.

i hate NY eve, will be asleep when the clock strikes 😁

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 31/12/2022 08:48

Watching crap telly on the sofa with my lovely DP, just the way I like it. Maybe a takeaway. NYE is way too much pressure if you plan anything bigger than this

frankie001 · 31/12/2022 08:49

I’ll also be comforting 2 dogs due to fireworks. One will snuggle up to me, the other will hide in the cat litter tray.

TentoFive · 31/12/2022 08:50

Hosting a Hungarian dinner party.

golfwidow88 · 31/12/2022 08:51

I have never been into New Year's Eve... even as a teen and young adult!

It's me, DP, ds10, dsd10 and dd1.5, so I can imagine me and dd1 will be going to bed as usual! I doubt I'll stay up until midnight.

Both the older two want to though. So I'll leave that with DP 😂

Might get some party food for them today xx

whatsinaname2 · 31/12/2022 08:51

On Phi Phi island drinking cocktails on the beach

Whitegrenache · 31/12/2022 08:52

My friend and I (DP won't come as they don't allow smoking 🤔) are staying in a luxury glamping pod in rural Northumberland and we are going out for dinner at a local pub and then get our pjs on and have a pamper night and play games! I'll have fizz but she is 6 months pregnant so won't drink

Absolutely can't wait!

endlesscraziness · 31/12/2022 08:52

I used to hate NYE but now we take it in turn to host a party with the kids. We're hosting tonight. Nice dinner for the adults, pizza for the kids, silly games and some dancing

crossstitchingnana · 31/12/2022 08:54

Looking after stressed out pets and a dh with Covid, on my own.

I hate NYE.

DaisyCornflowerBlue · 31/12/2022 08:55

I had Christmas Day off and will have NYD off but I'm on early shifts (up at 4am!!) so I'll doubt I'll make it to midnight! We usually just watch the fireworks on the TV then go to bed.

icanwearwhatiwant · 31/12/2022 09:00

Just me tonight for the first time in years, possibly ever!
I'm going to get nice food, watch a film and go outside for the fireworks at midnight.

Natsku · 31/12/2022 09:05

We're having fireworks (early though, before 7 is the aim so we don't disturb young children's bedtimes or wake them up, rather than at midnight. Hopefully it stops raining before then), sauna, doing a buffet with the traditional Finnish New Year's Eve fare of frankfurters and potato salads, and then more interesting things because frankly that's really boring food Grin then we shall play board games until midnight. DD11 will stay up and play with us, DS4 will go to bed a bit later than usual but way before midnight because he cannot handle a late night.

Our own family tradition is a questionnaire we fill out with the children each year, same questions each year, and then see how the answers have changed from the year before. Its fun looking over the old ones, I had forgotten that DS, then 3, said he wants to be a murder cat when he grows up Grin

reallyhatewinter · 31/12/2022 09:37

We're spending it with friends who live just around the corner. The kids all run off and play together leaving us adults. I expect it will end up with a bit too much wine and lots of singing.
Not everyone's up of tea but we don't get to see friends that often so I'm very much looking forward to it.

Cooper1272 · 31/12/2022 09:47

I’m going to a NYE party. Which is nice, but I have just found out that it is fancy dress and I am away from home in the middle of nowhere.

I’m desperately trying to come up with an outfit from what I have to hand.

Tiredmum100 · 31/12/2022 09:56

My parents, sister and brother in law are coming over. We're going to have buffet style food, probably play same games and make cocktails. Watch big bam at midnight. DC are adamant they will be staying up late, 11 year old, all night apparently. Dh going food shopping in a minute and I Will clean and tidy!

pifflesticks · 31/12/2022 10:06

McDonald's and bed by 9. Perfect

Waaahbaby · 31/12/2022 10:11

Part of me just wants to stay home and have a little cry but it’s the first time I can actually do something! I’m going to the pub with some friends for a dance and karaoke. At the moment I really am not up for it but hoping to get myself out of this funk!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 31/12/2022 10:13

If Andy Stewart can't be bothered to do his NYE show anymore, I can't be bothered to stay up...

CoteDivoire · 31/12/2022 10:16

Reading a book and probably going to bed around 10! I've never been one for NYE
