What’s Everyone Up To For NYE?

As usual the week since Christmas has flown by & here we are again on the last day of the year. Is anyone doing much? For the last few years we have stayed at home, especially since having the bunnies as we need to bring them indoors because of the fireworks. DH & I are having sirloin steaks, chips, peas, breaded garlic mushrooms & ( for me) peppercorn sauce & I’m going to buy champagne from Aldi. DD14 hasn’t decided what she wants to eat yet. Probably McDonald’s. We’ll watch a film then Big Ben at midnight & the fireworks. Used to watch Love Actually but it’s a Christmas movie so we watch it on Christmas Eve or a couple of days after. Used to have big parties when I lived with my parents & we’d inherited a grand piano so ended up round that. Or I’d go clubbing & crawl in starving at 2am. I remember cooking loads of chicken nuggets & dipping them in guacamole - taste sensation!
Whatever you’re doing, Happy New Year!!

Totally unbothered by NYE, just a regular evening for me. DD is out, I will potter about and watch a bit of TV before bed.

TomAllenWife · 31/12/2022 10:17

I'm in Dubai and quite frankly I'd rather be at home

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/12/2022 10:18

Not much. Husband cooking dinner for us (kids/grandchild) to eat on laps in front of a film. Bliss.

Going to soft play this afternoon then a takeaway, watch TV, eat chocolate and probably in bed by 11pm 🎉

OhPeggySue · 31/12/2022 10:21

Staying at home whilst my oh goes to his friends party. I won't go cos his friend is a rude arsehole who has been insulting to me previously and once got very threatening with me.

IWannaBeInTheRoomWhereItHappens · 31/12/2022 10:22

It's my birthday and I'm sick in bed, so pretty rubbish one here.

Hedjwitch · 31/12/2022 10:22

Nothing,as usual. Be in bed by 10.

I’m going to a NYE party. Which is nice, but I have just found out that it is fancy dress and I am away from home in the middle of nowhere.

I’m desperately trying to come up with an outfit from what I have to hand.

Why not stuff a cushion up your front, wrap a blue curtain or sheet around you and go as Mary, Mother of Jesus who is a bit post-term?

MonkeyPuddle · 31/12/2022 10:23

Well, we were going to have a nice tea, put the kids in bed and share a bottle of wine on the sofa.
but DP and both kids have D&V, DS has puked all over his rug and shit himself 6 times, DD puked all over her bed.
So I’m gonna spend the day washing and obsessively washing my hands.

KittensNotMittens · 31/12/2022 10:26

Takeaway (our kitchen is still out of order because of bloody burst pipes - since Christmas Day night), bottle of fizz and a movie-a-thon.

Really hate new year. We were invited to a house party but it would mean staying over and I’m not comfortable doing that (massive introvert).

So quietish I guess…

autumnboys · 31/12/2022 10:27

My sister and her husband are coming for dinner. DS2 (17) is having a few friends over. DS1 (19) hasn’t arranged anything so I think will be home. DS13 will probably break off from gaming to see the new year in.

AlwaysLatte · 31/12/2022 10:33

Nothing! Teen sons have requested fillet steak for dinner and a film, which suits me!

Bananaramad · 31/12/2022 10:34

Minding my grand neice till about 6 then me and dh will head out for an early couple of drinks then home nice tea bubbly 🍾 movie . Usually watch jules into new-year not sure what we'll watch for the bells tonight.
Have a good one 🥳

MeinKraft · 31/12/2022 10:35

Eating stuff and watching TV, the usual! It's a non event here.

Thekormachameleon · 31/12/2022 10:38

12 hour shift at work - ambulance service - pray for me 🤣

TheYummyPatler · 31/12/2022 10:40

There’s a local family fireworks display at about 7pm. So we’re going to go to that. Then come home and possibly not stay up for the bells. 🤣

Frazzled2207 · 31/12/2022 10:41

Not really NYE people at all. Happy to wave goodbye to 2022 but really not particularly optimistic about what 2023 will bring.
we usually do nothing special at all but tonight we are taking the kids (9 and 7)for a pizza tea and cinema to see Matilda the Musical. I expect we’ll all be asleep by 10pm at the latest.

Redglitter · 31/12/2022 10:43

Working night shift in a Police Control Room so God knows what the night will be like

We've all chipped in & someone's doing a buffet so a wee bit festive - assuming we get the chance to eat it

MardyMincepie · 31/12/2022 11:17

Having a take away at a friends house.

When I was young my home town would have a huge pub crawl with everyone in fancy dress. I have many a happy memory, always loved NYE.

MardyMincepie · 31/12/2022 11:18

@Cooper1272 what do you have to hand?
