They’ll fill the gap left by Tom Thorne (so to speak), so thanks for raising your profile on MN with such good humour.
The clincher was that in your Real Name you write books for kids that I’ve seen first hand get reluctant readers into fiction. I won’t be recommending DCI Logan or Hoon to that age group any time soon, though Grin

caroleanboneparte · 09/01/2023 17:08

I'm noticing mn being mentioned in more recent novels.

Ah, that's lovely to hear, thank you. My Invisible Fiends horror books were very much aimed at trying to get reluctant readers aged 9+ to give reading a try.

The kids stuff is why I changed my name, as it happens! Didn't want any little 'uns accidentally stumbling upon them!

hiredandsqueak · 09/01/2023 19:01

@JDKirk Can you tell me when the next Logan/Hoon book is likely to appear on the shelves please? I've read them all and can't wait for the next instalment. Thanks for mentioning Alex Smith earlier on the thread I'm enjoying his Kett series currently.

JDKirk · 09/01/2023 20:12

@hiredandsqueak Excellent, glad you're enjoying Kett. The next Logan is One For the Ages and it's out in February. It's up for pre-order on Amazon now.

After that, there's the first in a new DI Heather Filson spin-off series called The One That Got Away, which comes out in May.

hiredandsqueak · 09/01/2023 20:24

Brilliant, lots to look forward to then. Really enjoyed all the ones I've read so far, will nip over to Amazon and pre order the next Logan now thank you.

PeasRgood · 09/01/2023 20:41

@JDKirk are there any of yours you'd recommend for a 16yr old boy?? Desperate for something new to get my son hooked....

Dablikeacrap · 10/01/2023 16:03

My books get so badly trashed whilst I’m reading them 😮

starting to fancy Hoon a bit too 😂

Actually that will just look insulting if you haven't read the spin offs.

What am I saying? Be insulted ya wee book trashing hoor.

You might want to read the fecking thread as research.

hiredandsqueak · 11/01/2023 12:53

😂😂😂

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/01/2023 20:05

SNORT.

I am imagining Berta and Hoon discussing the royals now... it's not pretty, nor is it polite.

Pallisers · 30/12/2022 22:25

The ones who actually do their research go on just for a day, get sucked in and have no more time to actually write their books. 12 months later their agent is on the gin and the writers are writing epic responses on the feminism and relationships threads

so love this thread.

Yes, that’s exactly what happens! 11 years later I still haven’t written the damn book! 😂

ImustLearn2Cook · 13/01/2023 13:51

@Dablikeacrap Before I read this thread, I had never seen heart emojis being used on Mumsnet.

But in the last few days I have come across heart emoji’s in a number of different threads.

How weird is that? Is it a coincidence or has this thread inspired Mumsnetter to start using them. 💖

ImustLearn2Cook · 13/01/2023 13:52

Has anyone else being seeing them too?

JDKirk · 13/01/2023 20:57

Turns out I wasn’t wrong after all, just ahead of my time!

Bunch o cunts.

BertaHoon · 15/01/2023 12:31

@JDKirk tell whatshisface Smith that Kett is getting boring now.

Surely the kids can become moody teens so we can get over the bum, poo, fart gags.

Yes I'm miserable, that's why I chose this name 🤬

Galvantula · 22/01/2023 21:23

Sake @Dablikeacrap and @JDKirk I'm on book 6 now thanks to following this thread.

Do you no realise people already have big TBR piles?

Enjoying them though, as someone who used to live near a certain Highland city a long while ago 😄

❤️ your pic of the Eastgate clock* on your page. (I heard hearts are in now?)

*Luckily edited that to clock before I hit post 😳

hiredandsqueak · 28/02/2023 22:20

Anyone else reading the new release by@JDKirk released today? I'm listening on Audible ( my eyesight makes reading hard work) and love Angus King as narrator
