@JDKirk not yet. Will I fancy him more or will it give me the ick?

Based on the 200+ emails I’ve had from women readers specifically about their feelings on the matter, more.

Twinsmummy1812 · 05/03/2023 17:50

JD is right, Hoon was pretty repulsive in the Logan books (sorry JD) but I was a little bit in love by the end of the first Hoon book.

BertaHoon · 07/03/2023 23:15

Hey Captain @JDKirk

Just to let you know I couldn't get my hands on you until Sunday night. I'm sure you were slathering over thought of a weekend in bed with me, but tough titties. Grow up.

Got the irritating pretty bird down to a tee. Not to mention Boyband's discomfort.

That's as far as I've got. Stop fucking moaning.

BertaHoon · 07/03/2023 23:21

I too agree that my brother certainly didn't appear like the SAS hero he appears to be in his own books. That's because he wasn't, he was a shite gnarly, suicidal, bent lump.
With a gob on him.

Whipped him in to shape behind the scenes you see.

Right then Captain @JDKirk Bed. Now!

BertaHoon · 07/03/2023 23:25

I want to shush myself, I'm so gobby.

Said Geoff Palmer to blank faces.

Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 08/03/2023 00:13

@JDKirk was just idly reading active threads, and thought your depiction of mumsnet was hilarious (wrong but hilarious…), it was even more hilarious when you joined the thread (I also initially thought it was a wind-up).

But I’m mostly just here to fangirl (fanwoman?? This is mumsnet after all) over the writer of my beloved Space Team books! I’m a huge fan after being recommended them by Amazon’s algorithms on my kindle. I have never read any of your other books but am off to rectify that now!

💖💝❤😂

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/03/2023 05:34

Well NOW what am I mean to do... I have finished the latest..

DP is insistant we work through the entire series on audio book so there go all my credits, but at some point we will finish them all (for me, again)...

I will need some sort of counselling.

I am finding myself thinking warm and fuzzy thoughts towards Hoon. I definitely need counselling.

hiredandsqueak · 08/03/2023 12:56

@WiddlinDiddlin Angus King is the best narrator so get the audiobooks! Heather Filson spin off in May I can't wait to find out the history between her and Jack. Hope she doesn't throw a spanner in the works between him and Shona.

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/03/2023 15:14

Oh we're on the audio books, I will apparently be using all credits for them until they're done... we're not allowed aaaaaaanything else now (and I do have a thing for the comfort and familiarity of old Dick Francis books... and Tony Britton narrating...).

Angus King is excellent though, a good narrator reallllllllly makes an audiobook (and I wish certain fantasy authors would realise this, theres a series I love but the author has narrated the books himself and he reads with such urgency and lack of range that they're impossible to listen to!).

JDKirk · 08/03/2023 17:56

@Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco Thank you! Always nice to meet a Space Team fan. Who’s your favourite character?

@WiddlinDiddlin You’re definitely not alone thinking such thoughts about Bob. And no authors with the exception of actors doing their own autobiography should narrate their own books, in my opinion. Professional narrators always do it better.

@hiredandsqueak Great to hear you’re looking forward to Heather’s first book. I really enjoyed writing it and think it’s probably the best book I’ve written. But now I’ve said that, everyone will hate it.

@BertaHoon Can I get up yet?

ArticSaviour · 08/03/2023 19:44

JD Kirk - am just saying, if Jack ends up getting sent back down the road to Glasgow I will be setting Bob Hoon on you.

Loved the new one and now rereading the whole lot in sequence.

BertaHoon · 10/03/2023 02:16

Oops sorry @JDKirk the alarm went off yesterday!

Okay... I shushed it. I couldn't take my eyes of your dribbling effin n jeffin, ye tossin n turning. Clapping in your sleep as me brother arrived like the Fonz in Happy Days.

You can go now. I've finished. For now.

Lois. Lois hahahahahaha. Cackling here reliving her descriptions! Not literally - that was the other author. Paintbrush though.

I'll miss you.

BertaHoon · 10/03/2023 02:29

And... I had to get out of bed and boil me a Bombay Bad Boy.

Never King Size though - ratio of water to noodle to sauce sachet never works out. It's not the bargain it seems. Let down.

@JDKirk Oh my word, I've just remembered top of a Welly!

Pure hilarity and joy. I love a good murder.

BertaHoon · 10/03/2023 02:56

I have decided, Captain @JDKirk in the next book that I shall open up a small cafe with my 'insurance' money.

Unwittingly I'll plug in to the electricity supply of a local hotel, sparking a fire that wipes out the entire Tory party who were up on their annual gang bang.

It was a terrible shame that nobody could be arsed bothering. I'd just perfected me scone recipe you see, and nobody noticed the screams due to the full on fisticuffs over cream Vs jam.
Serious shit.
Huh.

Nevermind eh?

BertaHoon · 10/03/2023 07:09

Morning!

Crash bang pans.

Who's got a recipe then?

No, not you Robert ye fanny.

IcakethereforeIam · 20/03/2023 13:11

Finished A Litter of Bones a few days ago. Silly? Maybe. Farfetched? Perhaps. But I romped through it in a day or so, it was hugely entertaining and a few bits got me in the feels. Am now labouring through Wolf Hall, a worthy book, it's a marathon not a sprint, with lots of breaks.....lots of breaks.....so many breaks. For example, I could be reading it now!

💖

Dablikeacrap · 22/03/2023 21:39

I need to order more Logan books (and the Hoon) ones and am currently struggling through a book from WH Smith… the banter is shit 😭

It’s all about the banter.

ArticSaviour · 23/03/2023 21:17

I had the absolute joy of discovering that I had missed two books. How?

I have caught up now and am rather sad. But have preordered the Heather book

ArticSaviour · 23/03/2023 22:07

This seemed appropriate here...

I don’t think this author did their mumsnet research..
WiddlinDiddlin · 23/03/2023 22:13

Ongoing discussion with DP..

Who would play the characters in a (obviously fantastically accurate) tv drama series...

I am struggling. He says Gerard Butler for Logan, but I think he's too pretty...

JDKirk · 24/03/2023 07:37

I like Kevin McKidd for Logan, Graham McTavish for Hoon, and Aisling Bea for Shona. No idea about the rest.

A lot of people have said Butler for Logan, though.

I had more of a Rory McCann for Logan. Although possibly too old. It's the big hairy look.

Ken Stott for any love interest in my book.

Hoon is smaller and more wiry in my mind - think greying Dad of Begbie.

Geoff Palmer... Nerdy, try hard, dullard, comic... Whole hog - Ewan Bremner!

Boyband... New talent, not particularly good looking. Lots of hair gel though, best of the bunch.

If it was donkey's years ago, Clare Grogan for Shona definitely.

Anyway I'm going to change username. Set up way before you popped above the parapet @JDKirk . I don't want to sully Berta's good name.

DP loves you now... he said Graham McTavish for Hoon too.

I like Aisling for Shona, yeahhhhh... Gah I want this made. Now!

Serkis for Iris, hes sooooo good at weird and mental he'd be ace.

Twinsmummy1812 · 28/03/2023 17:46

Richard Armitage for Logan (or does he have to be a Scot?).
