Charity shop wishlists

Does anyone want to share a list of the things they are looking out for in charity shops? Mine is as follows ..
A wooden musical box that looks like a grand piano, preferably with a Spanish dancer painted on the lid. I had one as a child!
A welsh wool cape
Delft Amsterdam houses
Folkmanis hand puppets
Mexican silver jewellery.
Picture books about different destinations ie 'This is London' , 'This is New York' and so on.
A vintage bust of the Queen. I already have Prince Philip.
I have a ceramic statue of Jo from Little Women. Apparently the other girls are out there somewhere too.

Love this! Love a charity shop hunt. I always head straight to the bric a brac...I am on the look out for anything from the Royal Albert enchantment range and Royal doulton sonnet range have had some luck. My last charity shop purchase was a thermal top for husband brand new in pack £2 obviously wasn't on my list but very useful never the less.

gogohmm · 30/12/2022 07:25

A very niche list @shiningcuckoo

I work in one and haven't seen any of those (2 years). Just clothes for me as my house is cluttered enough

horriblechristmas2022 · 30/12/2022 07:42

A long raincoat with a hood
A new backpack for carry on
Black ankle boots
Some mom jeans

It's nice to focus as I have so many random
Purchases

WorriedMillie · 30/12/2022 07:50

I always head to the Childrenswear, I have had some real bargains over the years. DD’s Christmas Day dress was from Monsoon - brand new, £2.50

I’m currently on the look out for some salopettes for her.. and maybe a rain coat for the spring :)
I always check the bric a brac for Emma Bridgewater mugs

TheHauntedPencilCase · 30/12/2022 07:52

Mine are all books and I've done well!

Marmite27 · 30/12/2022 07:52

Kids clothes usually, but they got loads over Christmas.

House of Puzzles jigsaws, my favourite and they’re usually £17.99, got my last one for £2 courtesy of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

PritiPatelsMaker · 30/12/2022 08:12

Mine is very, very boring.

A naice vase.

LaMariposa · 30/12/2022 08:17

I've picked up a couple of Delft houses over the last year. A local charity shop had about 30 pieces! I did find a Delft Christmas tree bell before Christmas, too.

I'm looking for Portmeirion cups.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/12/2022 08:39

In always on the look out for different editions of Alice in Wonderland/Looking Glass.

jmh740 · 30/12/2022 08:42

Soup bowls. I bought 4 in a charity shop miles from home a while ago got them home in one piece washed them left them on the draining board and oh dropped them putting them away!

shiningcuckoo · 30/12/2022 08:43

I'd have fainted with joy at the sight of a collection of Delft! Forgot an item on my list - a large vintage ceramic Christmas tree with little coloured lights.

I love to find hand-thrown pottery mugs.

GrunkleStan · 30/12/2022 08:52

Sylvac pottery
Nice glassware
Local history books
Nice jewellery
Proper board games
Norwegian / fair isle knitwear

All a bit random!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/12/2022 09:03

Olga da polga books oh that's the one about the guinea-pig Grin , I loved those books .

I took an outgrown jacket of DD's in and saw a canteen of fancy spoons -large serving spoon plus eight smaller, I was this close >< but resisted .
Went back for them and they'd gone Sad

shiningcuckoo · 30/12/2022 11:00

I have a separate list for my classroom. Board books, cloth dolls, puppets, Duplo, simple puzzles.

Mine never have anything nice in them.

I also need some nice vases. I always look for nice fabric too, even from clothing I can cut up. I found some shirts from the 1970s once which were amazing and some old pillow cases. I’ve found the quality of clothing/fabric has dropped and everything is man made now. Sad.

PacificallyRequested · 30/12/2022 11:11

I love a good charity shop rummage but you're dreaming with that list! A vintage bust of the Queen?! Grin

SnowAndIceLobelia · 30/12/2022 11:12

I have had some lovely luck in charity shops the past several years,

I got a Spode coffee pot (£15.00)
A real burberry trench (£20.00)
A framed Cecil Aldin sketch (£80.00 as the shop had it valued).
A Boden wool jacket for DS2 (£5.0o and in perfect condition)

Bananadramallamas · 30/12/2022 11:17

You can often find heavy cutlery and crockery cheaply at auction sales rooms. Also vases and China ornaments. Mirrors and rugs have been my best finds at them.

Bananadramallamas · 30/12/2022 11:18

Sorry, not the point of your thread! Just another option.

Shannith · 30/12/2022 11:32

I'm a bit of a charity shop queen and other people give me their wish lists and. Hint for them.

Come up trumps with a brand new quicksilver shearling coat for a friends DD this Christmas £10! I'm always picking up stuff for people. Got a friend a whole new set of winter jumpers/tops for £20 last month. I'm blessed with incredible charity shops and a knowledge of which ones don't prove up good brands.

I am however looking, and have been for ages, for pair of size 6/5 1/2 very slim for tan flat boots for me. Literally the only thing missing from my wardrobe.
