I've just had a healthy and nourishing lunch of crisps and Stilton, with a light dessert of stollen bites and rose and violet cream chocolates. What bizarre combinations are you eating in this weird, drifting week?

I'm reaching the dangerous stage of being nearly out of crackers but still a ton of leftover bits of different cheeses (if anyone has any good recipes for using up lots of small bits of different cheese, please suggest it!). It means I start eating cheese like quality street.

Tonight though, I will be raiding the freezer to try and use up the remaining frozen canapes - a toss up between asian style lollipops and mini chicken kievs, I think.

Have just finished the last of the chocolate as a warm up.

I'm going to buy the bullet and do a Mac and cheese I think and just get the cheese gone
I've just had a "row" of Florentines while thinking about what to "cook" (assemble on plate) for dinner

DS and I decided to have Christmas dinner #2 from the leftovers - minus the cauliflower cheese and red cabbage as I've already portioned and frozen the leftovers from that. DH and DD scavenged other leftovers - I can actually see the back of the fridge now!
Although I have spotted a tub of double cream that needs using, not even started yet. Do I a) have VERY decadent porridge for the next few days, b) make some truffles and freeze them (ok, most of them), c) make some creme brulee (as we are running dangerously low on dessert), d) do something else with it, or e) chuck it and face the scales in the morning?

Decadent porridge sounds amazing. Having frozen truffles also sounds very useful. Or whip it and make scones?

6am stollen bites when I'm making the babies regression fueled bottles

Not so much an appalling food choice as a recommendation. I've just had a glass of hot spiced apple juice and wondered whether a slug of Pedro Ximenez would be a good addition. It was.

I made a shepherds pie with leftover over turkey last night. Bunged lots of cheese on top of vaguely mashed potatoes (well I made it after coming home from the pub) and had it with reheated braised red cabbage. DD took the leftovers to work for lunch today.

I'm now examining the large slab of ham MIL forced on me and contemplating making some sort of ham and cheese pasta for dinner.

Meanwhile DH has been excitedly visiting Tesco's reduced to clear section on a daily basis. So far we have our body weight on chocolate and several packs of items that call themselves gin liquer baubles

Scones is an excellent idea!

Today I’ve eaten 8 M&S pork belly squares, 1 mince pie, a packet of Walkers ready salted crisps, 2 slices of toast’n’Marmite, and a few dreggy chocolates from the nearly-empty Quality Street tin - the strawberry and orange creams all long gone. Had to get some food out of the freezer for the rest of the week, when the fridge was full to bursting just a few days ago.

Grilled cheese sandwich with a side of dauphinoise

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 29/12/2022 21:23

Dinner started properly (mushroom and samphire risotto) but then descended into both chocolate truffle cake and Xmas cake.

Kucingsparkles · 30/12/2022 07:56

Breakfast for the past several days (if we ignore the mornings in which we ate mince pies or Christmas cake or gingerbread house, nothing to see here) has been porridge topped with mincemeat and topped with extra-thick brandy cream.

We've had a constant stream of guests/visitors. So mealtimes have been (a) numerous (b) full of rich festive foods (c) always end with dessert of some kind. Plus all the snack trays of crisps, nuts, chocolates which are constantly being offered around.

My stomach feels like I imagine Jabba the Hutt feels his entire body.

I love this thread! It makes me feel so much better about my appalling diet these last few days. Yesterday's was:
Mince pies with Baileys cream for breakfast
A bowl of Twiglets for lunch
Shortbread biscuits in between
A slice of roast beef, strawberry chocolates and stollen
Lasrly, a handful of watercress and rocket leaves, because I thought I should.

MissingMoominMamma · 30/12/2022 09:49

My walking picnic yesterday was a garlic sausage, dill pickle and blue cheese sandwich, with a satsuma and two Hotel Chocolate chocs for pudding.

Lunch was sour cream dip, kettle chips, cheese and a questionable sausage roll. Home made - think the last day should have been yesterday.... time will tell!

Dinner will be the last of the turkey in curry using the last of the cream.

Again could be disastrous- turkey looks, feels and smells good so fingers crossed.

It appears that I got away with both items probably past their best according to food safety. Both smelt good and tasted great too
Phew!

longtompot · 30/12/2022 18:02

Yesterdays 'lunch' was a slice of Christmas cake with some very strong cheddar and a glass or two of port.
Today I had leftover baked ham, Brie and cranberry sauce sandwich with a hot mince pie topped with a healthy dollop of thick brandy cream. And a glass of two of port😊

tiddlywinks2 · 30/12/2022 18:07

I made a Christmas dinner burrito! Turkey and gammon with stuffing, pigs in blankets and left over potatoes and lots of Brie chucked on a wrap and smothered in cranberry sauce, rolled into a burrito and baked in the over.

MavisMcMinty · 30/12/2022 18:34

Tonight I’m making a proper roast beef dinner, if only so I can spend the next few days frying up slices of cold roast beef and slapping them between two bits of buttered toast, with onions. (I prefer my onions raw but fried are also delicious.) “Toasted steak sandwiches”, I call them, as that's what the pub that invented it called them.

Gingerkittykat · 30/12/2022 18:53

Yesterday I ate yule log with cream, more yule log with cream, a sharing bag of low calorie crisps, a mini pork pie and some home made chilli.

Tonight I've got a pizza and chips.

Amazingly I've only put 1lb on over the Christmas period.

Thankfully the yule log and cream are finished now and apart from my steak pie dinner on NYD I'm planning to be healthier again.

MyMachineAndMe · 30/12/2022 20:26

half a bag of posh Co-Op salt and vinegar crisps, half a bag of Co-Op frazzles, 2x chip butties and a supermarket tuna and cucumber sarnie.

AuntieMarys · 30/12/2022 20:57

I couldn't physically eat any more today. Dh is taking the various bits left ( sweet) to work with him tomorrow, so there's no more temptation apart from icecream, which I dont like.
I have actual vegetables to cook tomorrow. So excited

lurchermummy · 30/12/2022 23:51

Aldi calamari for tea followed by half a pound of dolcelatte cheese, a bottle of cider and some digestives with a couple of Celebrations to finish.
