Just that really. Do you have a special meal on Christmas Eve or standard 'everyday' food? What are you having this year? Looking for inspiration Smile

Either, I will do my jobs, stay sober and make a lovely veggie curry.
Or, I will hit the snowballs and baileys too early and have to order a pizza or Chinese.

We'll see.

We're having baked Camembert, hot bread, chutney and nice nibbles. The younger DC won't like the Camembert so will have a few nibbles like mini pizzas, cheese & pate etc.
Really looking forward to Christmas Eve as it'll only be our close family for this bit!

Box of Quality Street and a pint of Baileys while we finish the wrapping!!

Oh and a Christmas Colin the Caterpillar!

BLT2022 · 21/12/2022 04:31

We always have steak on Christmas eve, with plenty of fried onions.

Ohdofuckofdear · 21/12/2022 04:57

We usually always have a Chinese on Christmas Eve, I do tons of cooking on Christmas day which I really enjoy doing but after the last few weeks of running around getting everything ready for Christmas we like Christmas Eve to be nice and relaxing.

This year we're having an Indian instead as requested by DD15.

I love Christmas Eve,we all have a lovely meal together,a couple of drinks and cuddle up and watch something good on the TV before getting the DC upto bed.

NatalieH2220 · 21/12/2022 05:25

We always have a 'party food' dinner on Xmas eve. Lots of nibbly bits usually with a side of chocolate.

neighboursmustliveon · 21/12/2022 05:39

We always do a cheese board. It's become a tradition that we all look forward to. Last year it was ruined as we went to in laws for brunch and were all too full for cheese later so we are not making that mistake again!

doubleshotcappuccino · 21/12/2022 06:17

Massive lunch then buffet food so don't have to cook !

MontageOfHeck · 21/12/2022 06:52

@808Kate1 it’s just a recipe from BBC Good Food, so you’ll find it on there. I always use the packs of chestnuts! Merry Christmas. X

CeriB82 · 21/12/2022 06:53

Were all going out for lunch and a walk, then home to prepare the veg and drink and eat a picky late tea

Natsku · 21/12/2022 07:04

We'll be having Christmas Dinner as we celebrate on Christmas eve but on the eve eve we have pizza, that's been a tradition for a few years now. I considered making pizza empanadas instead this year but decided that's too much effort, frozen pizzas it'll be, and chicken nuggets and salad.

MinnieMountain · 21/12/2022 07:22

Cheese and biscuits and Christmas cake at MIL’s.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 21/12/2022 07:24

We always have a buffet of all our favourite things, crisps and dip, mini pizzas, spring rolls, smoked salmon blinis, halloumi fries and pigs in blankets. Followed by a tin of Christmas biscuits.

ASCB31 · 21/12/2022 07:29

Takeaway at my inlaws, no big mess for anyone then!

Afl · 21/12/2022 07:32

We have a kfc.
All the plates etc are in the dishwasher ready for xmas dinner so nothing has to be washed the night before 😂

Decafflatteplease · 21/12/2022 07:32

We have a buffet at MIL throughout the afternoon then a hotpot for dinner when we are home.

Whiskers4 · 21/12/2022 07:36

Creamy pasta with mushroom, spinach, onion and pepper. Slightly less veg in ours (DD veggie) and I'll stir in some smoked salmon trimmings or flaked salmon fillet to ours. Most important part of meal, a bottle of wine 😂

DeathMetalMum · 21/12/2022 07:41

I'm doing pulled pork this year. We have it with rolls, coleslaw, corn on the cob and wedges. I'll use the slow cooker so we can head out for a walk which we try and do Christmas eve.

Last few years I have done a cajun chicken and rice dish, woth naan bread and dahl but one of the dc have decided they no longer like it. 🙄

Dp always does Christmas Dinner so Christmas eve is mine to organise.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 21/12/2022 07:43

Chinese food - we’re Jewish!

namechanged221 · 21/12/2022 09:20

Crispy duck and stir fry

Thecrackineverything · 21/12/2022 15:03

Amused by the class issue thrown up by this thread. Lunch, dinner, tea or supper?

Prinnny · 21/12/2022 15:07

We’ll be having a little Xmas eve buffet. Christmas ham, baked camembert with crusty bread, cheese and crackers, mini chicken Keivs, mini cheeseburgers and pigs in blankets! Far too much for our little family but hey ho! Hopefully I’ll be able to actually taste again by then…damn covid!

CoxixSix · 21/12/2022 15:13

Cherryblossoms85 · 21/12/2022 15:15

Trying out this recipe. But now a bit paranoid about the reviewer that write it tasted like smelly feet 😨 www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/gratin-fresh-smoked-salmon-beetroot-potatoes-dill
