Just that really. Do you have a special meal on Christmas Eve or standard 'everyday' food? What are you having this year? Looking for inspiration Smile

I'm alone on Christmas Eve this year so have decided on a rare rib eye steak, béarnaise sauce and lots of green veggies.
Normally I'd do a gnocchi or pasta supper for all to share.

ChicagoBears · 20/12/2022 21:30

Hot turkey rolls with stuffing and a cheeseboard and some craft beers

Always4Brenner · 20/12/2022 21:32

Oh forgot j20s over the Christmas period as well.

Always take away. Too much to do and with excited kids. Take away easier.
Likely pizza or kfc as the dcs will eat that

Dmsandfloatydress · 20/12/2022 21:37

Indian straight after Christingle.

Undergroundovergroundwomblingfree · 20/12/2022 21:37

We always get Peking crispy duck to cook from our local Korean supermarket which we have with pancakes etc and then a big salad and spring rolls, dumplings, tempura prawns etc from M & S
Then orange, pistachio and orange blossom fruit salad dessert which is a Waitrose recipe and a perfect light follow on from the duck.

Davros · 20/12/2022 21:38

Take away kebabs

CosyScentedCandles · 20/12/2022 21:39

I normally make a shepherd’s pie. Hangover from my DPs childhood as it’s what his mum used to make on Xmas eve

AdoraBell · 20/12/2022 21:40

No clue yet🤦‍♀️

JustBkind · 20/12/2022 21:40

Have family round and usually do something different each year. This year it’s a huge cheeseboard and homemade trifle for dessert!

Oneofthosewsillydays · 20/12/2022 21:43

Used to be a Chinese takeaway before kids. Now it is a party food buffet. It is proving to be alot less stressful than queuing in takeaways. It also means we have leftovers for Christmas night if hungry later on.

Chickenwing2 · 20/12/2022 21:43

Takeaway pizza!

I'd rather have chinese or indian but i am put outvoted every year Smile

Reallybadidea · 20/12/2022 21:44

Xmas dinner. I'm on call on boxing Day so we're moving meals forward by a day. It makes Xmas day more relaxed and enjoyable too by having the big meal out of the way.

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 21:45

As Julia in Motherland says, its Christmas Eve, no one has tea on Christmas Eve. Just eat snacks.

Museya15 · 20/12/2022 21:51

I will be in work😭

Mol1628 · 20/12/2022 21:51

We are having Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve this year. Just want to chill on Christmas Day and spend time playing with the children and their presents

OldTinHat · 20/12/2022 21:52

I'm having cheese, cheese and an odd cracker perhaps. And chutney.

😆

mondaytosunday · 20/12/2022 22:11

I was going to have a takeaway but as I have to collect my son from 70 miles away at 7pm decided on lasagna - I can make it and my daughter can pop it in the oven when we are on our way back. Simple to make and filling! We'll eat it watching Home Alone.

FortyFacedFuckers · 20/12/2022 22:20

Takeaway, usually from a Chinese or Italian

TenzingNorgay · 20/12/2022 22:20

We do party food snacky stuff because who wants to cook?

SouperNoodle · 20/12/2022 22:24

We have a family tradition of spending Christmas Eve with my mum's side of the family. We all go out for dinner and have a traditional Christmas roast.
Then we have another Christmas roast on Christmas Day with immediate family.
We used to then spend Boxing Day with my dad's side of the family and have...another Christmas roast 😂 we don't do that anymore.

Lj8893 · 20/12/2022 22:29

Ifailed · 20/12/2022 20:52

If you mean Tea, normal saturday stuff. For dinner, probably a sandwich of some sort.

Sandwiches for dinner?? Surely you mean lunch?

or shall we just remember we all use different words for meals in different regions and not be pedantic with the OP? 😉

longtompot · 20/12/2022 22:32

Last year I did baked ham with cauliflower cheese and other bits, but that left us with not much ham for Christmas Day or the days after, so this year I am doing a chilli con carne.

talkingmorenonsense · 20/12/2022 22:33

We’re having a pork roast with all the trimmings.

Popoo · 20/12/2022 22:35

inappropriateraspberry · 20/12/2022 21:09

This is interesting! I think OP means dinner as in evening meal, but many are reading it as lunch.

Why do you think people are reading it as lunch?
