Why do words fail you? It’s fantastic that the NHS values a role of this kind.

I guessed this would be MPFT. Absolute joke to work for, glad I quit.

More baloney. This is exactly why the nhs is on its knees. It doesn't need more funding. It needs a bloody overhaul

What is lived experience?

Yes this!

Yes. Those of us who actually see patients, are well aware of the layers and layers of bureaucratic nonsense, and lack of funding at grassroots level.

Does that word salad correspond to an actual job role??

I always wonder about that. It seems to be a new buzz-phrase, but of course, every experience is, and always has been, lived. So why the need for someone in a ridiculous role like this?

Yes, what is it? And why does being a director of it attract that kind of salary?

Yes, we need to know this in order to work out what a “lived experience workforce”.

Experience of a life altering health condition, with significant use of secondary health services in which significant power imbalances have been experienced

My stay on an NHS postnatal ward immediately springs to mind.

I don't understand still what this means, someone who is alive would surely fit the bill?

So is it the salary of NHS directors in general that you have an issue with? Because I think it's quite telling that it's only the director post that will be held by a disabled person that has it's salary being criticised.

This is the first role of its kind. Most NHS lived experience roles are band 3, with some being up to a band 5. There is a strong evidence base behind this kind of work and it is increasingly used within the NHS.

For someone who needs to be or have, and I quote

Compassion and empathy

A desire to reduce power dynamics

Courageous

Awareness of the complex issues of working across organisations and disciplines

A desire to build and sustain a lived experience workforce

Ability to work with high degree of autonomy and use own initiative

Ability to work flexibly and adapt quickly to changes/managing competing priorities

Drive to achieve high quality of work with significant attention to detail

Ability to critically analyse and manage own work

Exercise tact and diplomacy

They're not leaving themselves a lot of time as applications close at the end of Jan. The last five are a given for pretty much any office job.
