Stupidly difficult work quiz

Seasons greetings!

The stupidly difficult work quiz is back for those of you that remember (@rosegoldwatcher).

Basically there are a series of very hard puzzles to solve - each puzzle solve gives you a password to move onto the next stage.

I've already managed to solve stage one myself (go me!) but I've ground to a halt as usual on the second stage (which consists of 8 individual puzzles to solve).

Here's a couple of puzzles i'm stuck on - any help much appreciated!

El cid is correct and the answer to the final puzzle! Thank you so much everyone - it's been very entertaining and frustrating in equal measure.

There were a couple of puzzles that I solved myself so I'll post them tomorrow if anyone wants to have a go!

I'll post the extra puzzles tomorrow and I might also ask the quiz masters if there's any old ones they can dig out. I've got an inkling they did an extra quiz during the first lock down that I missed...

I've managed the GCHQ one, although I don't yet know why the maths answer is right, as I just got it from the words, but I know it is right as I got the locations and the message.

It was a bit more my level than the ones posted here!

And just saw that it was a challenge for 11-18 year olds, which I am very much not. But that'll be why I could do it then.. clearly a new career as a code breaker is not beckoning just yet!

I can't do those GCHQ ones, except the ailurophile one -if anyone got the 9 letter word can they DM me, it's driving me mad!
