You're a cat. Where are you hiding?

Next door's cat is very friendly and comes to say hi every now and then.

It's feeling like minus 4 here and earlier this evening our NDC scratched at our door to be let in. She was absolutely freezing and bolted up the stairs almost immediately. We haven't seen her since!

We've tried coaxing her out by calling her name and hunting high and low in dark spaces with a torch. I've even been tapping a tin of mushy peas in the hope she thinks it's cat food.

We haven't been out and so she can't have slipped back out. Where on earth can she be?!

Tell me your cat's unusual hiding places - I need inspiration!

Inside a drawer that was left open one inch.

Top of a wardrobe, under a bed, snuck back downstairs and under a sofa

JustBkind · 09/12/2022 22:35

Under a wardrobe/ in a wardrobe/ on top of a wardrobe! In a box, under the bed, in a bag, behind a unit, behind anything! Cats will get anywhere!! They like to be tucked up in a corner somewhere or in something, where it’s dark and safe and better still if it’s warm! Good luck!!

BlessMyCottonSocks · 09/12/2022 22:35

Laundry basket?

Smarshian · 09/12/2022 22:35

Under bed, back of wardrobe,

Beanbagtrap · 09/12/2022 22:36

Chimney. That's where we found ours. Hopefully without the fire lit!

purpleme12 · 09/12/2022 22:36

God this is so hard I have honestly had my cat outwit me with hiding more than once.
However some ideas...
Under the settee.
Is there anywhere with a pile of things that they could be in?
Backs of cupboards//drawers
Under the bed.
Have you left a window open?

Grimchmas · 09/12/2022 22:37

If I was a cat I would a) know a tin of mushy peas did NOT sound the same as an OPEN tin of tuna then you very much, and b) hide under your bed so I could make spooky noises in the night.

Penguinsaregreat · 09/12/2022 22:37

Sorry op I’m laughing at you tapping a tin of mushy peas and the cat having none of it.
As for hiding places, under a bed, in a wardrobe, in drawers.

whirlyhead · 09/12/2022 22:38

Seriously, I’d just give up. She could be hiding in plain sight and you wouldn’t see her if she didn’t want you to. They’re sneakier than you.

2pinkginsplease · 09/12/2022 22:40

Our cat squeezes herself into the tiny gap between the bed and the wall.

at present she is hiding under a jacket that was left on the couch. She’s as snug as a bug

WhitePhantom · 09/12/2022 22:41

Open a tin of tuna and wait a few minutes... problem solved 😁

Neves7 · 09/12/2022 22:42

Congratulations on your new cat?

maximist · 09/12/2022 22:43

Shine a torch into every nook and cranny. Eventually you'll see her eyes glowing back at you....

NeverDropYourMooncup · 09/12/2022 22:43

Do you have an IKEA chest of drawers? They have a lovely, cat sized entrance at the back that leads them straight into the bottom drawer where your jumpers are kept safe and fur-free.

rugaru · 09/12/2022 22:43

if i was a cat, i'd be in your bed. is she in there?

Daffodilis · 09/12/2022 22:43

Airing cupboard

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/12/2022 22:43

Mine would be in the clean towels box
My Brothers cat hid in the tiniest space down the side of the dressing table when I was cat sitting .

Gratuitous photo of my female cat in towel box , just because ...

You're a cat. Where are you hiding?
JoanThursday · 09/12/2022 22:44

She has form for hiding in dd's bedroom behind a chest of drawers so we've looked there.

Ds is chronically incapable of shutting anything with a handle on it, so I've been checking wardrobes and drawers.

NDC is a lovely old girl and I'm not sure how high she can climb but perhaps she's more agile than we think.

And yes, I imagine she's huffing about the mushy peas as I type (it was that or tinned tomatoes).

Right - I'm giving up. I've flashed a torch in every dark corner I can think of. She'll be laughing at me from wherever she is hiding.
