You're a cat. Where are you hiding?

Next door's cat is very friendly and comes to say hi every now and then.

It's feeling like minus 4 here and earlier this evening our NDC scratched at our door to be let in. She was absolutely freezing and bolted up the stairs almost immediately. We haven't seen her since!

We've tried coaxing her out by calling her name and hunting high and low in dark spaces with a torch. I've even been tapping a tin of mushy peas in the hope she thinks it's cat food.

We haven't been out and so she can't have slipped back out. Where on earth can she be?!

Tell me your cat's unusual hiding places - I need inspiration!

Mine likes snuggling up on the office chair which is pushed in under the desk so he's well hidden there. I see you've found her though and she's lovely ❤

Beautiful and clever, she clearly had no intention of being left out in the cold.
Her owners aren't leaving her out in the weather are they?

No - she does have a cat flap! They are having some work done at the mo, so she's a bit unsettled apparently.

Glad she reappeared! My old cat once managed to squeeze behind the bath panel and hide under the bath. It took FOREVER to find her, and when we did she was 90% cobwebs 😱

A child's broomstick can be a useful tool in finding cats. They find them unsettling enough that they make tracks sharpish!

Glad to know all is well with such a beautiful cat. Unfortunately the building work may take a bit longer with the weather, so more unsettling for the cat.

On top of the airing cupboard, that's where we find our neighbours 2 cats, neighbour had a baby 4 months ago, cats havnt been let in the house since- poor things, it's freezing!

Dittosaw · 10/12/2022 10:36

In the cupboard on some nice warm clothes of course. Hidden, to prevent annoying distractions

Is the cat a Burmese or have some Burmese mixed in? If so, Burmese love to burrow. I'll often find my Burmese girl deep in my bed under the covers, or she'll curl a blanket around herself, and you'd never know she is there. Just some clues should it ever happen again.

She's beautiful.

My cat has a spot under my sons bed that I didn't know about until recently.

She also goes somewhere in my wardrobe, maybe behind the laundry basket but I'm not sure!

Oh fair enough then, my cats ran away for 24 hours last week due to the building work, it was freezing cold but they came back with warm ears so I presume they'd also found a warm spot.
Prepare for her to locate a few more hiding places in your house before the building work's finished then Wink

Don't worry too much about cats and the (British) cold if they have a cat flap, d cat is currently sunning herself at 1 degree, heard her go out at 3am too

Good tip!

I've wondered if there is some burmese there too. She's also very vocal and loves company. (Except when she's hiding out of sight for hours on end, obvs).
