How often do you wash your hair?!

I saw a video earlier, I believe it may have been students at a pretty well known hair stylists (although I can’t for the life of me remember which now) being asked how often they wash their hair. Most said once a week, quite a few once a month. There seemed to be a bit of shock when a couple said they washed theirs everyday or every other day.

How often do you wash yours? Any one know how often you are supposed to? I only ask as I wash mine every other day and by then it’s feeling pretty oily and looking like crap… maybe I’m washing it too often?! Dry shampoo does nothing for me though…

Every day or every other day , depending what my plans are . I run 5 days a week ( long distance) and I swim 2 times a week so my hair needs a wash .

I wash mine every day, its fine but lots of it so it washes and dries quickly. I'm in and out of the shower in 5 mins, 5 mins to blow dry. I like it feeling clean and bouncy, it's also a bit mad when I get up as I toss and turn a lot at night (bad sleeper).

I swim every morning and have short hair so wash my hair every day. I can't imagine only washing it once a week, it's something I don't like about long hair, that people wash it far less than they would short hair.

My hair was almost at my bum when I was a working adult and I washed it every morning in the shower. It's still long, just not as long, but I don't shower every morning now as I am disabled, so it gets washed every other day when I shower. Any more is too difficult.

It took me until I was 48 to realise my hair looks its best if I wash it once a week.

I used to wash it daily.

I have long, copious curly hair. It takes an hour to dry with a hair dryer.

I could leave it a month and it wouldn't be greasy or smelly. My husband has greasy-prone hair. It would stink if he didn't wash it daily. He'll wash it morning and evening if we're going out.

Every 2-3 days, just when it gets greasy really!
I used to go longer but as I've got older it's been getting greasy faster

Every day here. It's fine and straight, I left it two days this week for a change and it looked wet with grease by afternoon 😔.

I have night sweats regularly so I feel better washing everything in a morning!

I used to wash it every day (have quite long curly hair which can get frizzy). I used to wash it every day so I could pile on the serum.

Since buying a silk pillowcase I’m now down to once or twice a week. Although the pillowcase was quite expensive, it’s more than paid for itself in hair products.

Usually every other day as will start looking greasy by end of day 2. Though sometimes use dry shampoo after day 2 and wash on day 3.

I have very short hair. I shower daily, my hair gets a wash too.
Never gone greasy from over washing either.

Seems odd for the top 20% of you to remain dirty whilst you've made the effort to get the other 80% clean in the shower.

I get greasy after 2 days, but if I wash every day it's even greasier!

I do every other day. I have fine, short, bobbed hair and if I don't it looks awful. It's terrible after a nights sleep. I also have to factor in if I am exercising that day or not because if I do an exercise class then my head gets all sweaty and looks dreadful so I have no choice but to wash it. I'm intrigued as to whether those that wash it once a week do any exercise and if so doesn't that turn your hair all sweaty? Maybe it's just the curse of having fine hair.

Once a week roughly. It's long and very thick. Takes an age to dry.

I also don't have a fringe - when I did I remember the fringe used to look greasy much more quickly. I can definitely get an extra couple of days out of it by just tying it all back.

Every three days. It had to be trained. The more it is washed, the more it needs washing.

Every other day but sometimes every 3 days.
My hair is fine and goes very greasy.

Once a week here! Although I pushed it to 12 days this time without looking too unkempt because my house is absolute freezing and I couldn’t bear the thought of having cold, wet hair! Grin

It depends on your hair. My hair is really thick so I can get away with once a week. I also just dont have time or inclination to wash it more often as it takes all bloody day to dry!

I have short hair and wash it once a week. Surely it depends on the type of hair someone has as to how often they need to wash it. Why do you think hair should be washed daily, how does it get so dirty, not everyone has greasy hair.
