Anyone at Sherwood CenterParcs?...

...that fancies picking up a toy that I really should have bought my DD at the time? We came home yesterday.

I didn't, thinking I'd secretly nip back for it, then surprise her on her Birthday, but I didn't clock that the Just Kids shop closed at 6.00pm.

I've called the store, and they won't post it. It's not available anywhere in the flipping UK, and charges from the US are £25.

It's a Polly Pocket set, about £15.00. If anyone is kind enough to pick it up and post it to me (I'll obviously pay the P&P) I would be eternally grateful.

It didn't occur to me how tricky it would be to find one!

Not there sorry but can you see if there's any Facebook groups? I'm on a similar one for bluestone that's very active.

If not, hopefully this still least bumps your post. Best of luck OP

CenterParcsToyHelp · 26/11/2022 19:04

Good idea Bumble. I can't tell you how hard I'm kicking myself for not just buying it there and then!

Get on the sherwood CP page, I’m sure someone will help, they’re a freindly bunch. I’d help but I’m not going till April!

Nevermindthesquirrels · 26/11/2022 19:07

There's lots of Polly pocket sets on Amazon. My DD used to love them. Could you get one from there and say the lady in the shop had a special one?

CenterParcsToyHelp · 26/11/2022 19:09

Thanks v much - I'll try the CP Sherwood page. I have a virtually non-existent FB profile, which might not help, but I'll find some way to vouch for myself!

Nevermind it was a sort of dressing up set, with a fairy and pirate costume - my DD had spun an entire tale by the evening about the adventures she'd have with this very specific, very-unavailable Polly Pocket set 🙄😁

I am interested in your proposal OP. Presumably whoever were to make a purchase in the UK would go out of their way for you. Even if at Centre Parcs already, they would still have to break off, purchase and then post it to you. In that case, how would you pay for their time, effort and risk plus the lack of privacy? Is it not easier to buy the one from the US which is via Amazon in California? If you really wanted it then $25 is much easier.

AFingerofFudge · 26/11/2022 19:41

Cookerdog sometimes it's just nice to do something for someone, without looking for payment or reward. OP I would have definitely done this if I were at CP. Sadly I am not there!

Don't be daft. The OP was asking if anyone could do her a favour.

I have helped in similar circumstances tbh, and didn't think to ask for reimbursement of my time and trouble fgs 🙄

SingingSands · 26/11/2022 19:43

It's nice to be nice @Cookerdog Hmm

What an odd post. If I was at CP now or going in the near future I would have done it for OP. I have posted someone's wallet back to them after finding it on a beach entirely at my own cost md effort because its just nice to be nice.

Hellocatshome · 26/11/2022 19:45

Oops quoted the wrong post but you get what I mean.

CenterParcsToyHelp · 26/11/2022 20:02

Thanks all. I'm trying the FB route, and I might just try to bump this periodically.

We see the world differently, Cookerdog. I've also posted back a wallet I found on the bus, and someone's hat that we found in a holiday rental. I didn't ask for recompense - I like just doing the right thing, tbh!

Don't be an arsehole 🙄

Nevermindthesquirrels · 26/11/2022 20:19

@Cookerdog I don't know about you, but in the part of the UK I was raised in, more often than not this would be seen as an act of kindness and not something to make money off. I take your suggestion as really rude and would think you're quite selfish, and hope you don't come across a situation where you have to rely on the kindness of a stranger. In short, you sound like a prick.

MichelleScarn · 26/11/2022 20:27

Bloody hell, usually love these threads as you get a warm glow at all the offers of help. I once sent some dinos out for a mnetters son, would NEVER have thought like @Cookerdog!

Oh I agree. It is nice to do something gratis.

I just wondered the protocol on MN for this type of thing where a poster asks others - who they do not know - to do something for them at cost and time. There is often a balance between to be found between giving gratiously and not being used. There have been many threads on CFS for example. I asked something genuinely that is all. 🙂

By the way I have donated £40,000 to charity over the last 7 years.

veryawkward · 26/11/2022 20:39

I would go out of my way to make magic for a child!!

What a brilliant caring mum you are to try and work this out xx

veryawkward · 26/11/2022 20:40

@Cookerdog

How do you know someone "gave" 40k to charity?

They tell you Confused

Hellocatshome · 26/11/2022 20:40

Its not going to cost anyone anything though is it? I'm sure OP is not expecting them to pay for it out their own pocket just buy it and pop it in the post they can always request the money in advance if they dont trust her.
