Do you drink your tea in bed or up and at it

Parents of little ones not counted

When the alarm goes off do you make tea/coffee and take it back to bed OR are you throwing the curtains open and putting the dishwasher on?

Bed

sittingonacornflake · 14/11/2022 06:23

Oohhh I'm fantasising about life pre children and how utterly luxurious it would be to have this choice.

However, I reckon 6 days out of 7 I'd probably be up and at it and then 1 day a week take the tea back to bed as treat.

Pyjamagame · 14/11/2022 06:23

Depends on what day it is. Work days - up an' at 'em. Weekends - tea please!

2greenroses · 14/11/2022 06:24

I put the dishwasher on while I was waiting for the kettle to boil. Now am back in bed with my tea. No one on Mumsnet is up-and-at-it, are they, we are all lazing around online

DuncanBiscuits · 14/11/2022 06:25

DH brings me porridge and coffee, which I have in bed.
Then I read my Daily Stoic and my letter from Seneca, do my journal, meditate and tit about on MN for a bit.
I like a slow run-up 😂

DipmeinChoc · 14/11/2022 06:26

DH likes coffee in bed so if he's making one, I'll get one too. I like to be up and dressed before going downstairs for a brew.

rainbowandglitter · 14/11/2022 06:27

I get straight up and have a cup of tea. I don't like drinking or eating in bed.

FireworkFluster · 14/11/2022 06:27

Up, at it while kettle is on, then sit down to do wordle, read, MN for a bit with my coffee then on with my day. I make the coffee last for a while!

SierraSapphire · 14/11/2022 06:27

If I'm not going to the gym then in bed. I do get stuck here longer than I would like, but it's often between 5-6am that I wake, which feels too early to get up and do anything.

FireworkFluster · 14/11/2022 06:28

When kids were little, DH brought me tea in bed before leaving for work, and the kids would pile in with me. I worked evenings then.

Bretonstrip · 14/11/2022 06:28

I’m back to bed. Have been ever since the kids got out of that awful 5am wake up period.

DS just passed me on the stairs and asked why I always go back to bed every morning

“because I don’t have to get up with you lot torturing me these days” 👀🤷🏼‍♀️

Bed , it’s a civilised start to the day

DuncanBiscuits · 14/11/2022 06:29

Good for you, OP!

Bed , it’s a civilised start to the day

Agree!

The horror of a late start and having to stay downstairs and run around for work and school run. They are the worst days

Bed. DG brings it every morning then buggers off for a poo. So it is peaceful.

OxanaVorontsova · 14/11/2022 06:32

Bed/bedroom whilst getting ready for work

Giveronyoursausage · 14/11/2022 06:32

I'm definitely a morning person. I get up between 5 and 6 although it was 4 30 this morning.Already done a load of washing, sorted the dogs and a few other odd quiet jobs around the house.
Dp is at work he has to gets up at 2am Mon to Fri so only dc in bed.

GetUsedToTheHeatAgain · 14/11/2022 06:32

Used to think eating and drinking in bed meant I was unwell!

But now I lie outside the bed with a cup of something and a couple of biscuit's!

devildeepbluesea · 14/11/2022 06:34

Hot water dispenser beside my bed. 2 cups of coffee before sticking a toe out of the duvet then it’s up and out with the dog.

Dougieowner · 14/11/2022 06:35

Can't stand eating or drinking in bed.
If I am awake then I get up and go downstairs where I can chill out and enjoy a cuppa.

Bretonstrip · 14/11/2022 06:36

people who don’t eat or drink in bed - why?

i put my electric blanket on so it’s cosy when I get back in from the trip down yonder

biggest mug I have, bed, phone, check calendar for any meetings I’m not aware of, check emails, skim daily mail (guilty pleasure), skim FB, daily bank account check, skim Instagram, skim mumsnet, 1 game of soda sort and then up

Enjoying my cup of tea in bed as per usual.

ReggaeRocks · 14/11/2022 06:38

I take a thermos of Rooibos to bed every night, have insomnia so often have a cup in night but will enjoy one before getting up too.

Chomolungma · 14/11/2022 06:39

Up and at it! My "lazing in bed" time is in the evening when I read every night before going to sleep (although not with a cup of tea). When I wake in the morning I like to get up.

Vicliz24 · 14/11/2022 06:39

I get up immediately my alarm goes off but then put on fluffy dressing gown make coffee and snuggle on the sofa while I drink it . Some mornings I snooze while I'm there .
