Do you drink your tea in bed or up and at it

Parents of little ones not counted

When the alarm goes off do you make tea/coffee and take it back to bed OR are you throwing the curtains open and putting the dishwasher on?

Tea in bed! Ideally a biscuit too!

SeasonaIVag · 14/11/2022 06:41

I leap out of bed - full of the joys

Upside to having teenagers: I am well rested and get some alone time after years of dragging myself out

onemouseplace · 14/11/2022 06:42

In bed, hopefully with the paper if it has been delivered in time.

I get up 20- 30 minutes earlier than I really need to so I can do this.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 14/11/2022 06:42

No alarm.
Wake at stupid o’clock.
Pixi pod coffee machine in room like a hotel.
No need to go downstairs and disturb the household.

Best Mothering Sunday present ever ☕️

I drink mine in bed, I love my electric blanket and weighted blanket my son bought me.

I'm in bed now on my 3rd cuppa been up since 4am

ncncncnc123 · 14/11/2022 06:43

I have kids so it's not an option, like you say, but once I'm up I'm up. I find it hard to get out of bed so I'm not going to do it twice! If someone were to bring it to me without me getting up then I'd happily drink it in bed!

girlmom21 · 14/11/2022 06:44

Pre-kids I used to love getting up and having a cup of tea in the garden while the world was still quiet.

Now I'm lucky if I finish a hot cup of tea a day Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/11/2022 06:46

We have our alarms set for 30mins before the kids wake. Dh makes the brews, I get dressed (shower night before), then he gets back into bed and I lay on the top (if I get back in I struggle to get out again). We drink our brews.

I play Wordle/Worldle/Polygonle/Phrazle

Then up as soon as the kids come down at 7am.

I’ve got kids, 4 of them!

Once they get out of that awful toddler stage you can go back to bed too, it’s blissful !!

Baby wakes up, one of DH or I bring him into our room and get cosy with him while the other one goes downstairs, preps a bottle, makes a tea (me) and a coffee (DH) and then we sit in bed, one of us giving the baby his bottle, while we drink our hot drinks and come around! So I’m just snuggling with the baby and posting on MN. DH will be off into the shower in a min and the toddler in at 7 if the groclock works. And then the madness begins!

Nice twist - agree, garden in summer on the lounger is a nice alternative to bed

alarm goes off at 4.30 i make coffees for myself and husband he has his and goes off to work i drink mine in bed while scrolling through mumsnet waiting for the kids to wake up.

Hillrunning · 14/11/2022 06:49

Why are your choices limited to bed or right into jobs like the dishwasher? I get up and make my tea, Alexa plays a few of my favourite very calm songs, I turn on the lamp that gives the room a lovely glow and I sit in ym favourite chair enjoying my tea and reading mumsnet. It's exactly what I'm doing now, bliss.

megletthesecond · 14/11/2022 06:49

At the table.

Fair enough

I will allow getting up and relaxing as an option

I go downstairs to let the dog out, make coffee and Breakfast, then have breakfast in bed.
Every morning - I love my bed.

Proamble · 14/11/2022 06:54

I have an 18m old, but my husband brings me a coffee in bed then does the nappy change and breakfast. Usually I have at least two coffees in bed!!

maddiemookins16mum · 14/11/2022 07:06

I make tea, potter (feed cats etc).
Then take it upstairs to get ready (never get back in bed Mon-Fri).
Weekends, plenty of tea in bed.
I actually took tea back to bed when DD was little, she’d have a feed or a sippy cup of warm milk and we often watched telly for a short while, It was lovely.

TwinkleChristmas · 14/11/2022 07:13

Iv never got up, went downstairs, made tea and then went back up to bed.
Once I’m up, I’m up, it feels lazy going back to bed.

WordtoYoMumma · 14/11/2022 07:16

My cup of tea starts my day to wake me up so I have to be out of bed or I'd just get cosier and less awake 😂

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 14/11/2022 07:21

Huge pot of tea and one rich tea biscuit in bed every morning.

EXDH would never let me eat in bed. Hence the biscuit.

It’s like I give him the one finger every day 🤣

Meltingsocks · 14/11/2022 07:23

Always tea in bed since youngest turned 3ish.

It's the best part of the day

70billionthnamechange · 14/11/2022 07:24

We take it in turns getting up with the kids. Today is my day so I have under the blanket downstairs with DD (2yrs) having her milk and watching tv and wait for DS (4yrs) to wake. When it's my day off getting up I text DH when I'm awake and he brings it to me in bed

WishingWell5 · 14/11/2022 07:25

The thought of going back to bed (or even better, someone bringing you a cuppa!) sounds divine. I've had maybe 5 lie ins at a push in the past 6 years. Apparently my OH "isn't a morning person" Hmm I will definitely do this one day.

Ramble0n · 14/11/2022 07:26

My DH gets up for work before me so brings me a cup of tea up every morning.
