Do you wear knickers under pyjamas

And why?
spent the night away with some friends and noticed that they did. I understand if you wear knickers instead of pyjamas although I tend to go alfresco.
so unless you’re wearing a pad maybe, why would you?

I wear either a top and knickers to bed or pjs with knickers..
How long are you going to keep wearing pjs with no knickers? It's a bit unhygienic.

MrsJephson · 14/11/2022 05:24

@Redup I agree, dry clean pj's are very impractical. They were gifts and totally gorgeous from Liberty, I believe about £400 per pair. I love wafting around the house in them. Awful when you get porridge down the front.

greenacrylicpaint · 14/11/2022 05:30

oh I love a knickers under pj thread Grin

Backthetruckup · 14/11/2022 09:16

OP, were these 'friends' squealing with delight while having a saucy pillow fight by any chance?

The generation with the idea that air could circulate just fine through bedding plus pyjamas but not through bedding, pyjamas plus underwear were also a generation that got a clean pair of underwear each weekly bath night only. Why are we taking one part of their habits as exemplary if not the other? Probably they wanted to give the underwear a bit of a rest at nighttime.

Which generation are you referring to, and do you belong to it yourself? Because those are some pretty sweeping generalisations you're making there.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2022 15:23

Yes. Because I just feel more comfortable.

IsThePopeCatholic · 14/11/2022 15:30

No. Why would you?

Definitely, I wash pj bottoms after 2 washes so clean knickers are an essential for me. I’m surprised how many people sleep nude. I’d find that so uncomfortable for a whole night not to mention the amount of bed linen changes it must generate , but each to their own .

I sleep in a tee shirt and nothing from the waist down and I only change my bedding once a fortnight.

I also never wear knickers at all, as I wear maxi skirts all the time.

Am I disgusting?

Well, if you read the thread you would find many people telling you exactly why. 🙄

Yes.

Yes. Because they have that gusset but whereas pj bottoms dig in.

Same, for this reason. Also I would want to wash the pyjamas after one night if I went knickerless, but if I wear pants underneath I wear pyjamas for two or three nights.

Do you not get fluids on your maxi skirt?

PhilomenaPringle · 14/11/2022 18:19

The idea of wearing pants 24/7 is a bit odd though

I've worn pants 24/7 for the past 40 years. Except for in the shower and occasional other stuff. I cannot bear the feeling of having insecure nether regions.

Josette77 · 14/11/2022 19:21

Why can't people where pj's more than once? They are baggy and how much discharge do people have? Women are always told how dirty we are. My pj pants don't even touxh me and my vagina isn"t spraying dirty juices everywhere.

kissmelittleass · 14/11/2022 19:21

Yes always!!

blondiecurly · 14/11/2022 19:28

It is quite easy for me. I wear knickers under my pyjamas when I'm on, and no knickers when I'm not, for obvious reasons!

Yes exactly that

Whataplanker · 14/11/2022 19:42

Yes I do.

However, I wouldn't take what your friends do while you are away as a sign of what they always do e.g. when we have people staying over who are likely to see me in my PJs, I will also wear a bra under my PJs so my friends probably think 'Whataplanker always wears a bra in bed' when, in fact, I don't!

Forever42 · 14/11/2022 19:45

I wonder how many men who wear pyjamas wear pants under them or change them daily.

Coconutcream123 · 14/11/2022 19:53

I do now (since having children and erm, leakage) and whilst pregnant. I didnt when I was younger.

Me too!

@Forever42 I just asked DP and he confirmed that he always wears his boxers under pjs too.

You had to ask him?

StarlightLady · 15/11/2022 08:22

Unless you have major health issues, @Badnewsoracle is misguided to think that regular wearing of a skirt without knickers is likely to cause secretions on the fabric. A skirt does not have a gusset.

I fairly frequently go knicker free with a skirt or a dress in the warmer weather without problem.

ohforthelife · 15/11/2022 08:23

Yes, otherwise I'd need fresh pyjamas every day and I don't think that's necessary.
