I only have a small amount in there but I eagerly await the draw each month but it never happens!

My friend won 100k about 20 years ago

canyoutoleratethis · 09/11/2022 14:31

I appear to have got lucky so far, as since buying a full holding earlier this year - in 6 months I've won a total of £950!

Ekátn · 09/11/2022 14:31

Yep. I win something most months. This month was £150. Some months have been £25. In July it was £525.

There’s a MN premium bonds thread where people post and talk about PB and share what they won.

I win almost every other month on 8K - usually £25 but was £125 this month. I thought I was doing fairly well, but it was stll only 2.87% / year when I totted it up. Now the rates are going up. am looking to move it into a fixed term savings pot instead ..

Jux · 09/11/2022 14:35

A few of my cousins have. I was given a small value bond on my birth and have never had anything - over 60 years!

Gh12345 · 09/11/2022 14:36

I’ve had a premium bond for 30 years and won twice on the draw. £25 each time

tiggergoesbounce · 09/11/2022 14:39

I think as others say it depends how much you have in. Family have the full amount each and we win quite often but if you have a smaller amount its less frequent. (Although probably better than the interest in the banks over the last few years )

Paddingtonthebear · 09/11/2022 14:50

These are the two luckiest winners I saw this month!

My parents seem to get £25 amounts fairly regularly but they have a fair chunk invested. Talking to a friend about this recently (after interest rates went up) he said he used to have a few thousand in and would get that sort of amount fairly often. Although it’s random, mathematically, the more bonds you have, the more chance of winning each month.

I was about to write the same thing!

edwinbear · 09/11/2022 14:52

I have £40k in PB and usually win something most months. I got £150 this month so that was a good day.

Crazymadchickenlady · 09/11/2022 14:57

Yes win most months but have a lot of them

LindaEllen · 09/11/2022 14:58

I had 30k but I've just paid the mortgage off with it so I'm down to 7k. With 30 I was winning 1 or 2 prizes most months, one month I won 3 x 25. Not winning as much now but by chance I've still won £25 both months since I took the large lump sum out.

LoobyDop · 09/11/2022 15:00

I used to win £25 3 or 4 times a year, with £10k invested. Never any more.

red4321 · 09/11/2022 15:03

I've never won but my son won £10,000 on £100 of premium bonds bought by my parents. (After I'd said I'd rather the money was put in a savings account so had to eat humble pie).

AriettyHomily · 09/11/2022 15:26

Had 15k in them for 18 months, never won anything.

AriettyHomily · 09/11/2022 15:27

TenoringBehind · 09/11/2022 13:26

I win every month. Anything from £25 to £150.
same for my children too.

How much do you have in there?

Nottodaty · 09/11/2022 15:30

My BIL is one of those naturally lucky people - he has roughly the same amount as me (around £1k) he’s won regularly £25 and £100 once..

Me =nothing

daughter has £2500 - in a year won once £25

Paddingtonthebear · 09/11/2022 15:35

I win small amounts most months. Have won 15 out of 22 months. Started with £10k, have £40k now.

Purplehonesty2 · 09/11/2022 15:41

Both me and my parents usually win most months. I used to win more £100 prizes but I've been spending mine on hosue build so I've not got the full amount any more. So now it's usually &25

Badger1970 · 09/11/2022 15:57

Very unusual not to get anything - I had 25 this month and 150 last month. Max amount invested.

JustLurkingAway · 09/11/2022 15:59

Had max amount in one since June & have won £350 in total since then

FatOaf · 09/11/2022 16:08

My mum wins a prize every month, probably averaging around £400-£450 a year. But she has £50,000 worth of bonds, so it's only a 0.8%-to 0.9% return, which is pretty poor.

Livebythecoast · 09/11/2022 16:09

I have 26k and have been quite lucky this year with £25 in March, June, July, August, September and November and £175 in October - very happy with that 😀

TenoringBehind · 09/11/2022 16:10

AriettyHomily · 09/11/2022 15:27

How much do you have in there?

£20,000 ish. It has been close to £50,000 very occasionally, and down to 10,000. Doesn’t seem to make much difference to the amount w Edwin.

Rowthe · 09/11/2022 16:15

slowquickstep · 09/11/2022 13:49

£40k for the last 12 years and have never won a penny.

This is very bad luck.
