I only have a small amount in there but I eagerly await the draw each month but it never happens!

Me, my sister and our cousin were each given £100 worth in 1978. I’m the only one who has won anything, and that was £50 about 15 years ago.

2bazookas · 09/11/2022 13:48

Yes, we both win something almost every month. This month, I won a 50 and two 25's . DH won three 25's.

Our return for past year is around 2% pa, tax free.

NooNooHead1981 · 09/11/2022 13:48

Mu DH's well off elderly aunt has the maximum amount of premium bonds and is always winning £200 most months.😳

I, on the other hand, have won not a penny since I was bought one when I was born 41 years ago...🙄🤣

I have a couple of grand and have won twice - latest was £25, I think the previous one was £50. Only had them for a year or two. It's definitely more than I'd have got in interest from a bank.

slowquickstep · 09/11/2022 13:49

£40k for the last 12 years and have never won a penny.

Ihavedogs · 09/11/2022 13:49

I have a couple of hundred and have had £25 a year so far.

blitzen · 09/11/2022 13:50

I've won loads of times but I have lots of bonds. Last month three bonds won and the total I won was £175.

Lyricallie · 09/11/2022 13:50

I won £25 for the first time ever. I have about £500 in there I just drip in £25 a month. So really good return for me lol.

blitzen · 09/11/2022 13:51

Oh and when I had far fewer bonds, about £2k, I won £500. Hadn't had them very long at all.

redastherose · 09/11/2022 13:53

I regularly win, I have the max holding and I won my highest win this month at £250 in 2 x £100 and 2 x £25. Very happy this month.

bigbluebus · 09/11/2022 13:54

I've had 1 bond for 50+ years and never won!
DH bought £50,000 worth about 12 months ago and has won every month bar 1. Usually £25 or £50 but has had a couple of wins over £100.

Withnoshoes · 09/11/2022 13:57

My partner and family all have FH/high amounts they all seem to win at least £25 most months . My partner regularly wins£50/75. Last month he won £150, this £50

I’ve only a few thousand in and I’ve won twice this year . One x £25 and two £25

TheOrigRights · 09/11/2022 14:09

I left £100 of Bonds in my account when they were divvied up as part of my divorce (it was easier than closing it down).
It's been there for 5 years and I won £25 last month. That's probably a pretty good gain!

EndlessMagpies · 09/11/2022 14:10

Yes, but not for a long time. My late DM had £500 of them, and they must have been a lucky bunch of numbers because she would win maybe £20 or so several times a year. I inherited them when she died, and won small sums several times, but unfortunately discovered that if you inherit premium bonds they automatically cash them in after 12 months. They sent me a cheque. This was in the 1990's and I don't know if they still do that or not. I could have bought some more, but it wouldn't have been that same set of lucky numbers, so I bought a wardrobe instead.

losingit31 · 09/11/2022 14:14

DH and I both have the maximum invested and our total winnings this year so far total 0.8%. We have a fixed rate bond paying over 3% so it would have been better to have it all in there!

mrsbyers · 09/11/2022 14:16

I win most months , highest was £1000

thesecretshame · 09/11/2022 14:21

When we had max savings (for our house deposit) we kept them in PB. We used to regularly get £25 or £50. Just before we cashed them in to put towards the deposit we had a lovely win of £500

We still have PB now but as they are greatly reduced we just have the very occasional £25 which we reinvest

midsomermurderess · 09/11/2022 14:22

I’ve won about £400 so far this year. I do have a good number of bonds though.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 09/11/2022 14:23

Me - never. My mother wins all the time
and has done from the 1960s!

Lcb123 · 09/11/2022 14:27

Yes I’ve had £5k in there for a couple of years won a few £25. DH has won about £200 over a couple of years! But the equivalent saving rate of premium bonds is about 2% now so there’s higher interest instant accesss saving accounts available

OrangePomander · 09/11/2022 14:28

I used to have the maximum and won at least one prize most months. Now have a couple of thousand and won £150 so far this year.

JustDanceAddict · 09/11/2022 14:28

My DD won £100 recently.
usually it’s £25 or £50.
often they don’t get for ages then there’s a run of £25s! I think they both have more than DS who rarely gets. I don’t have them.

chasingdays · 09/11/2022 14:29

My DS has £50 in there. He won £100k. Sadly for me I can't touch it Grin

Paddingtonthebear · 09/11/2022 14:29

Yes, I joined in January 2021 and have won a monthly prize 15 times. Latest and biggest prize was this month, £150.

Some people are extremely lucky, I think I on the winners list this month someone who had only invested £300 since joining and won thousands. I think someone else also won’t £10k with just a £50 holding.

thecatsthecats · 09/11/2022 14:30

£1000 won me a single £25. Boosted to 13k and have 6 x £25 this year. Boosted to 28k now with the first draw in December, at which point I will obviously win a million. Please.
