I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Here is the link to the prior thread:

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Thanks Always hope you get your ticket.

Thanks Mummy I love banana bread with chocolate chips too.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/12/2022 21:33

@Mumtobabyhavoc Thank you for you kindness.

Bananas- something I'll never understand. DS eats them with chocolate sprinkles, DH shredders them in milk. If I encounter a piece in a salad I eat it (bc adult).

It is raining again. No snow.

Prok that ornament above is so so lovely.

Just been violently sick 🥴

Silkierabbit · 06/12/2022 22:14

Beautiful decoration Prok

We have the Christmas penguin, robin and snowman out. Floof loves them and sits next to them. His favourite was robin but now penguin has appeared he has been found sitting next to him a lot.

MissC I hope your trip to Philly goes well - will you get a Philly Cheesesteak while you're there? They're a secret love of mine that I don't get to eat very often.

I went to the loveliest Vespers service/concert at the weekend and I finally feel like Christmas is coming. We have a tree sitting out in the garage that I need to bring in and decorate. I've started Christmas shopping and booked for the whole family to see a show in Boston on the 23rd, and am very excited that we'll all be doing a big day out together. Having two in college means we don't get to do that often, especially as their holidays don't seem to align all that well.

My funny-ish story is that while we were at the Vespers concert, DD's choir was singing (absolutely beautifully), then a woman in the row in front of us started singing along, completely out of tune. I was trying not to get irritated by it then I looked at DH who was desperately trying not to laugh, and I found myself snorting with laughter too. The woman continued singing through to the end of the song. Oh well. She enjoyed it :-)

HildaTablet · 07/12/2022 23:32

I’ve ordered a few Christmas things online, including some very nice chocolates for DH, and then realised there might be problems getting them delivered safely, as I’m at work this week and DH is away. Luckily they came this morning before I left, courtesy of our very nice regular postman, and we had a good chat about the postal strikes (and all the other strikes) while standing at the door in the freezing cold. It’s suddenly got very nippy here and they’re predicting snow in Scotland over the weekend.

I’m making mince pies for our next book-club meeting, so I had a test run tonight with a new (to me) recipe that has pastry made with orange zest and juice. They were delicious and the pastry’s very short, so I think I’ll be going with that one. I like a good melt-in-the-mouth mince pie.

Always4Brenner · 08/12/2022 11:12

You’ve seen me at my darkest now see me the happiest three autographs arrived today all of them Mathews I’m thrilled I’m getting the most beautiful frame ever for these will be put on my my bedside cabinet. Thank you to those who supported me in my darker times. Hugs ❤️❤️❤️❤️ To all of you.

MissConductUS · 08/12/2022 13:20

Lemons, I hope you are feeling better now. It sounds like one of those stomach viruses that make the rounds this time of year, particularly in schools. Well done on moving forward with new job and new job prospect.

Hilda, what kind of chocolates did you get him? I've already put out a bowl of Ghirardelli's chocolate Santas, and they are going fast. I haven't had a mince pie in years. Apple is the favorite here.

ZZ, we have a group dinner tonight at a posh steak house, but I may strike out on my own tomorrow night. I love a good cheesesteak sandwich too.

I'm having a rare work-from-home morning, packing and doing email. DS will take me to the train station later. I hope to be in Philly by 3:00. I've booked business class tickets (I pay the upgrade charge), so that should be nice. It's a small treat for myself when I travel for work.

3 types of cookies baked.
Now I feel exhausted and won't do anything for the test of the day.

MissConductUS · 08/12/2022 13:26

@Always4Brenner, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Well done with the cookies, Prok. I don't usually do mine until a week before Christmas.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/12/2022 14:13

Miss
There are 3 types from me and 3 from DH still to be done.

Silkierabbit · 08/12/2022 14:17

Glad things are looking up for you Always4Brenner Its such a lovely thread here.

Very impressed with your cookie baking on chemo Prok Make sure you get a good rest and enjoy those biscuits.

We finally got an autism diagnosis for DS yesterday, 4 year battle to get that.

The silkies woodchip arrived today and that will hopefully giving them more flooring for the winter.

Floof is very trilly. He loved DDs new cardboard box.

3 meetings done this week, 2 to go tomorrow, all re DS but now one has been arranged for Monday morning as well. They are doing the meds for 4 weeks but not clear at all what plan is for after that. We are pushing for home but last report said health said DS needs 24/7 medical staff. No idea why they think that when sloths show more movement. Its officially for assessment but they now I since then they have said autism, catatonia, anxiety and ruled out psychosis. I am hoping that means they will finish assessment soon. ASD is done. I think the issue is he is still meds and therapy refusing and they are covert meds. I think they are waiting for him to comply with all treatment and speak though now they are realising this is unlikely to happen so what's plan B. They were saying they think it will be a year before he can go to school, hope not. I think they are looking at either another hospital, an asd unit or home.

Enjoy Philly trip Miss

That's amusing about singing ZZ

Lovely to make mince pies Hilda

Glad you are feeling better Lemons

Silkierabbit · 08/12/2022 14:18

Lovely for mince pies too Sprouts

Deathraystare · 08/12/2022 14:31

Had an annoying time waiting for a bus after work just now. It said 3 minutes (for 15 minutes). Then said 5 minutes. Eventually it came but decided due to a technical fault that it would terminate the stop before I get off. Quite a long road to walk up and my bones are frozen. However, I am sitting in a cafe. I have a mug of tea and am awaiting a bowl of veggie soup. Their home made veggie soup is gorgeous!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/12/2022 14:55

Silkie Finally - and it was so obvious from the first post I read.
We have ice rain here - disgusting weather!

mathanxiety · 08/12/2022 17:00

I'm cautiously optimistic for you, Silkies. Any chance of DS being released to you for Christmas? He isn't a danger to anyone or to himself after all..

Silkierabbit · 08/12/2022 17:54

Thanks Prok and Math I was really hoping for Christmas and his 16th birthday in Jan but both look unlikely atm. The one assessment isn't being done until 22 December which they said could be pushed back though the team are not happy that one assessment is holding everyone up. We will know a bit more tomorrow and Monday. The only thing is they apparently do short leave lengths before full leave so whether we could have him out for a day on those days or part of one maybe. The other issue though is he has not left his room even though he is now allowed out 15 mins a day. But hopefully with the meds he will leave again. They have made him walk around his room a lot more.

MissConductUS · 08/12/2022 21:14

That sounds promising, Silkie. It might be therapeutic for him to get some time at home.

I've arrived in the City of Brotherly Love. The train trip was fine. I was on one of Amtrak's high speed trains, which are pretty posh. I'm on the 19th floor of the hotel, so I have a nice view of the city.

OP posts:
Lemonsandlemonade · 08/12/2022 21:59

That sounds slightly more optimistic Silkie. I hope things go in the right direction.

Written my letter of resignation which was hard.

Im excited for new job but sad too. I hope it will give me the much needed mental break and new challenge.

Wow 19th floor MissC! 😳

MissConductUS · 08/12/2022 22:33

Here's the view from the 19th floor, I'm about to go out for dinner.

Good view, MissC! Coincidentally I’m in a hotel for work too, but I won’t post a picture as I’m overlooking the car-park 🫣

The chocolates I bought for DH are French, the maker's called Michel Cluizel. We've had them before and I must say they’re very good.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Silkie.

Congratulations on the new job, Lemons, it sounds like a positive move given the unhappiness you’ve had recently in the old one.
