I’ve just found out what DH did on his day off.

He deep cleaned the house. Like all the sketchy bits, behind the furniture, the skirting boards, the dodgy bits of dust and grime in the creases in the window frames, degreased the extractor filters, all that nonsense throughout the whole house.

I only discovered it because I went to wipe a handprint off a door and, jif in hand, went to do all the doors. They were clean!

He didn’t mention it. Which is out of character as he can be a bit of a glory hunter wrt housework stuff. But he just said he was off work, kids were all out, I was at work and he needed something to do. He’s even descaled the kettle ffs.

This is untenable. How can I ever do pass agg cleaning around him now when he’s done six months worth of my jobs for me. Fucker.

Can you send him round to mine next time he has a day off please? Am willing to pay 😄

PinkyU · 04/11/2022 12:02

Well that’s just rude!

LadyHarmby · 04/11/2022 12:04

Fucker indeed. Could you check the tyre pressures on the car to get your own back?

cheeseisthebest · 04/11/2022 12:05

I didn't even know I was meant to do cleaning jobs like thar or clean doors??!!!

tentinginmarch · 04/11/2022 12:06

WhenDovesFly · 04/11/2022 12:09

Clickbait! 😂😂

Simonjt · 04/11/2022 12:11

I assumed doors were self cleaning…

I binged the new series of young royals on my day off, I then had to lie an act surprised when I watched the first episode with my husband.

viques · 04/11/2022 12:13

I hate to be the one to pop your balloon OP, but this is mumsnet, and a man doing all that can only mean one thing, he has a guilty conscience, oh yes, indeedy me, a really really really , guilty conscience. You must immediately put a tracker on his car and check his phone either for messages from unknown people known only by their initials , and also for the lack of messages from unknown people known only by their initials that he has cunningly deleted.

then ltb. Sorry .🙂

OMG he DOES have a lack of messages from unknown people. I’m getting my ducks in a row right now.

Why do you refer to them as your jobs?

I think you need to calm down OP. He might have done a big clean but when was the last time he did any cleaning? We’re so quick to give men a big pat on the back for doing things that they should be doing anyway. I have male friends who are approached in public and congratulated just for looking after their own children.

Nobody writes a gushing post on the internet when I descale the kettle.

Fundays12 · 04/11/2022 12:17

Lol send him to my house to teach DH that these things need cleaned

We are all here for you hun.💕

BobbyBobbyBobby · 04/11/2022 12:17

I’m so sorry op but your husband has been murdered by Triffids and replaced with a clone, hence his unusual behaviour.

He does a lot. Like a massive lot. But I do the nitty gritty stuff usually, like viakalling the shower head (totally a word) and bleaching the kitchen bin. He’s actually great at keeping tidy and clean, hoovers most days and does the laundry and the dishes, but rarely (actually, never before) saw or did any deep cleaning.

For some reason he decided to see what needed doing and did it all. I’ve lost all high ground now. I’m fuming.

six months worth of my jobs for me - he clearly knows that they are not exclusively your jobs. Good man!

My OH did far more cleaning than I did - mainly because he cared more about it - I have a very high threshold for dirt!

Donaldwheresyourtrousers · 04/11/2022 12:23

I like your DH more than my DH right now!

RobertsRadio · 04/11/2022 12:25

Can you clone him and send me the clone? I'll pay obvs.

Idontgiveashitanymore · 04/11/2022 12:29

I hate men like this. How dare he?

on a lighter note, please send him to mine when you’ve had enough of him .

Parker231 · 04/11/2022 12:31

I remember when DH had a rare day off on his own and he went through DT’s wardrobes pulling out everything they had grown out of and bagged it up ready for donating. Everything which fitted was organised by type and hung up tidily. He put me to shame for the state of my wardrobes that I felt I had to spend a horrible day sorting them out.

REP22 · 04/11/2022 12:32

Murder scene clean up. Check your drains for body parts and the local press for missing people. ;-)

WednesdaysChild11 · 04/11/2022 12:35

How funny 😂

Mariposista · 04/11/2022 12:36

Terrible husband, really terrible. He must be concealing an affair, gambled away your savings, secretly loves cross dressing, would vote for Donald Trump (if he was American) and is thinking of becoming a vegan. Awful man hahahahaha

(obviously all sarcastic OP - you have a great bloke there!)
