I’ve just found out what DH did on his day off.

He deep cleaned the house. Like all the sketchy bits, behind the furniture, the skirting boards, the dodgy bits of dust and grime in the creases in the window frames, degreased the extractor filters, all that nonsense throughout the whole house.

I only discovered it because I went to wipe a handprint off a door and, jif in hand, went to do all the doors. They were clean!

He didn’t mention it. Which is out of character as he can be a bit of a glory hunter wrt housework stuff. But he just said he was off work, kids were all out, I was at work and he needed something to do. He’s even descaled the kettle ffs.

This is untenable. How can I ever do pass agg cleaning around him now when he’s done six months worth of my jobs for me. Fucker.

@LadyHarmby

Fucker indeed. Could you check the tyre pressures on the car to get your own back?

LOL!!!!!!! Grin

Can you send him round to mine next time he has a day off please? Am willing to pay 😄

Me too please 🤣

PollyAmour · 04/11/2022 13:44

He invited a posse of women around and had a debauched orgy lasting most of the day, then spent a frantic hour cleansing the house of any evidence. Check the wheelie bin for evidence.

Sending unmumnsetty hugs at this troubling time.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2022 13:46

Bleaching the kitchen bin? Is this a thing?

Allmarbleslost · 04/11/2022 13:48

Can i swap my dh for your dh? Mines shit at housework but he's a very good cook.

TimeAtTheBar · 04/11/2022 13:51

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2022 13:46

Bleaching the kitchen bin? Is this a thing?

Maybe like twice a year when I realise it stinks.

I’m really not that great a cleaner. The jobs he’s done are ones I think of every six months or so. I mean, who dusts skirting boards in real life ffs? And I’m not sure I’ve ever cleaned the window frames other than a cursory wipe with a j cloth.

Maybe he’s prepping the house to sell and leave me? 😱

How do you descale a kettle 😂

AriettyHomily · 04/11/2022 13:54

Husband is a teacher, this is his idea of fun in the school holidays.

Shodan · 04/11/2022 13:57

It's obviously so he can get more sex. No more excuses like "Oh I'd love to have a romp with you darling, but I MUST clean the doors/descale the kettle/iron the loo roll."

Poor you😔

I frequently bleach my kitchen bin.
However I have a stupid one with crevices where dirt seems to hide until it looks filthy and I wonder why I didn’t see it before!

Homewardbound2022 · 04/11/2022 13:58

He'll never change.
You can do better.
No one deserves this.
Get your ducks in a row.
LTB.

WanderingDreamingSpires · 04/11/2022 14:05

We’ve just got back from a ‘break’ with our ten month old and I am whirling round the house like Mary Poppins on speed doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping, tidying etc while he gets under my feet all day then takes himself to the cinema for the afternoon.
I’ve had to sit down and take some deep breaths with the RAGE. Especially when he said ‘you seem angsty’ Don’t LTB, give him a kiss and tell him how much you appreciate him. Especially as you say he is normally quite handy with a Hoover. But obvs if the rage is too much, I will take him off your hands.

Hahahaha brilliant

CanINapNow · 04/11/2022 14:07

He’s obviously been having an instagram affair with Mrs Hinch. I’d send her a pic of the inside of your kettle and ask her to explain herself.

emptythelitterbox · 04/11/2022 14:08

Ducks in a row
and LTB obviously!

TimeAtTheBar · 04/11/2022 12:15

OMG he DOES have a lack of messages from unknown people. I’m getting my ducks in a row right now.

This immediately screams ‘affair’ to me too OP, I’m so sorry. He’s clearly had his head turned:(

Most likely someone he works with. Does he mention any of the women at his workplace? If he doesn’t that’s a big Red Flag. If he does that’s a big Red Flag.

He’ll deny everything and gaslight you into thinking you’re mad when you confront him. Please change the locks tonight and start gathering paperwork, bank statements etc. Big unmumsnetty hug or whatever it’s called.

littleburn · 04/11/2022 14:13

Well I'm normally the first to say LTB, but that level of deep cleaning balanced against a potential indiscretion ... I mean it's a very close call 😂

Fundays12 · 04/11/2022 12:17

Lol send him to my house to teach DH that these things need cleaned

This 👏🏽😂 my dp cleans the kitchen twice a week on his days off, he pulls the cooker out to clean down the sides too lol he folds his n my older sons clothes(because there not fussed how there folded)n I like mine and the younger 2’s folded properly lol helps putting toys away n clearing up stuff that’s visible but I think he could still learn a thing or 2 from op’s hubby.

Piggieinthemiddle · 04/11/2022 14:16

My husband cleared out the under-stairs cupboard last weekend. It is an absolute joy to behold now. He also deep cleaned the kitchen and arranged all the cupboards.

Meanwhile, I managed to sort out my floordrobe. I'm a domestic disgrace. 😂

LeMoo · 04/11/2022 14:16

I've never met anyone who pulls the cooker out clean. How unique.

AriettyHomily · 04/11/2022 13:54

Husband is a teacher, this is his idea of fun in the school holidays.

I'd like a NONE sexual affair with him or OPs DP whereby they come round on their days off and clean my house. Who's DH is good with twin toddlers? Maybe I could menage a trois it and one can clean and one babysit.

REP22 · 04/11/2022 12:32

Murder scene clean up. Check your drains for body parts and the local press for missing people. ;-)

@TimeAtTheBar i don’t go round with a duster on my hands n knees to do my skirtings however they do get done every other day. I use the hoover then mop when the floors get done lol

Geppili · 04/11/2022 14:23

Did he hoover fluff out of your bathroom extractor?

No?

Not good enough.

EndlessMagpies · 04/11/2022 14:28

It must be catching, the other day I came home from work and DH had cleaned all the window frames on the inside and washed the net curtains, unclogged the plugholes in the bathroom, done a shedload of ironing, cleaned and washed two cat litter trays and the kitchen bin, and run the hoover round.

Honestly, he makes me look like such a slacker, I was furious!
