The Italian Job
Ghostbusters
Tequila Sunrise

These were in the days I still went to the cinema. Years ago. I didn't get the appeal of any of the foregoing. Is it just me ?

That was meant for @WildRosie

The original 60s version of The Italian Job is crap. I haven't seen the remake but one cannot polish a turd, so to speak.

La La Land - I couldn't get into this at all, it was so DULL.

Mamma Mia - how did that young girl who had grown up on that Greek island have NO Greek friends? Racist tart.

@PonyPatter44 lmao!! 😀

Karmagoat · 07/11/2022 15:56

Another vote for Star Wars
The Breakfast Club. Meant to be an 80s classic? Its shit.

I agree the original is crap. Most British films are.

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/11/2022 17:42

Oh, no. How can you say that? <remembers former family holidays driving through the Alps, singing, 'this is the self-preservation society'>, visiting Turin to see the places where it was filmed...
Each to his own, I suppose 😊

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/11/2022 17:44

@User2145738790 what about the Harry Palmer films? Funeral in Berlin, etc? Zulu?

DatasCat · 07/11/2022 17:49

Another vote for Love Actually - benefited massively from the Christmas ‘nothing else on’ effect. Also, most of the Marvel franchise and every remake ever (Anna Karenina, The Railway Children, I’m looking at you).

Lovemelovemydoggie · 07/11/2022 17:53

Sleepless in Seattle

HazelBite · 07/11/2022 17:58

The "Rocky" films
La la Land
Mama Mia
Moulin Rouge

cushioncovers · 07/11/2022 18:00

Mama Mia
Dirty Dancing

Dire. Michael Caine can't act.

the80sweregreat · 07/11/2022 20:51

La la land has one of the best endings though!
I hate Dirty dancing as it's basically just a horrible man grooming a young girl

Funkyslippers · 08/11/2022 10:31

the80sweregreat hardly. She pursued him from the word go. He isn't even interested in her until halfway through. And there's only about 5 years age difference

isthismylifenow · 08/11/2022 10:42

In my opinion it is anything that won an Oscar...

For eg: No country for old men, Birdman, American Beauty etc etc

gloriamoi · 08/11/2022 13:18

I not seen the others but I loved American Beauty. Was superb and the acting by all in it was brilliant. I do see what you mean though, many of the Oscary type films or critical favourite ones aren't necessarily good.

gloriamoi · 08/11/2022 13:19

Inception -load of confusing shit.
Castaway-so boring.

londongals · 08/11/2022 13:20

Star wars was junk a poor mans cowboys and indians
Taxi driver
Titanic - people being passionate in a sinking ship was fing ridiculous

gloriamoi · 08/11/2022 13:21

Agreed in Dirty Dancing, Baby is supposed to be about 18 and Johnny is supposed to be mid 20s. I don't find that creepy or inappropriate really especially for the 60s when it was set.

Noluthando · 08/11/2022 13:25

Shawshank Redemption. I didn't get the appeal but it seems to be many people's favourite film ?

I love that film!!

IceandIndigo · 08/11/2022 14:20

Basically every superhero film ever, but I realise I'm in the minority on this.

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2022 14:41

I don't like marvel or DC films much
Not my bag as they say

xogossipgirlxo · 08/11/2022 15:03

Meet Joe Black

Heatherjayne1972 · 08/11/2022 15:04
