The Italian Job
Ghostbusters
Tequila Sunrise

These were in the days I still went to the cinema. Years ago. I didn't get the appeal of any of the foregoing. Is it just me ?

I gave up trying to watch Moulin Rouge and found ET boring. I also gave up on Girl on a Train.

BarrelOfOtters · 04/11/2022 11:35

Everything Everywhere All At Once. - just didn't get it - couldn't find anything in it that worked for me.

Bridesmaids - dull.

Titanic - dull and long.

The Proposal, Shawshank Redemption, Pretty Woman - like them.

Three Billboards great, Top Gun (both of them) great.

fatnotfluffy · 04/11/2022 11:38

Star Wars
Anything directed by Michael Mann
Dirty Dancing
Grease
Avatar
Signs
The Dark Knight

SpookyWookyBoo · 04/11/2022 12:14

Hereditary I was so looking forward to it.
It started great but the ending was wank. It just went off on a tangent completely ruining the film
I find horror films now are only made for endless sequels.

Star Wars ,The Notebook.
Titanic and that dreadful Celine Dion song.

DrFoxtrot · 04/11/2022 12:38

@sashh I thought that the brother in the real life story was just allowed leave to go home rather than a dangerous mission looking for him.

HauntersGonnaHaunt · 04/11/2022 13:13

Titanic and that dreadful Celine Dion song

I left the Titanic museum early because that song was playing in the final room. I'll never know what else I missed in there. Bloody Celine Dion.

Evergreen82738 · 04/11/2022 13:27

Meet Joe Black, Titanic, Grease

schnubbins · 04/11/2022 13:49

Star Wars or anything Science Fiction .I have managed avoid all such nonsense since the first Star Wars came out in 1975 or so .I will never forget sitting in the cinema wondering what it was all about and being so disappointed as we were never ever brought to the cinema by my parents and this was a birthday treat from my friend.

Eat Pray Love .Utter drivel

Pulp Fiction

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 04/11/2022 13:49

Love Actually is dreadful wank.

Anything with Gwyneth Paltrow in it.

Ah I'm going to that after Christmas.
I'll just power through Celine Dion.🤣

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 04/11/2022 14:00

Bridesmaids was pretty unfunny and so long!! The Holiday a complete … what’s it called… purgatory of a film maybe? Why does one of the ghostbuster characters (bill Murray) hate women so much?! Really misogynistic and no redemption.

fallen asleep to several Daniel Craig James bonds, too corporate and cold feeling.

walked out of The Martian to stretch my legs several times.

cringe at most hollywood stuff … would rather a slightly uneven but interesting concept/ different perspective film. Plus so many times I think a producer/ actor is cool they turn out to be a gross letch, feels hollywood is more that (and clinging to positions of power/money) than talent

Funkyslippers · 04/11/2022 14:21

Pudmyboy I've never heard anyone that's actually watched Muriel's Wedding say it's a romcom or similar. It's very dark in parts and that's why I like it. I also loved Ticket to Paradise, surprisingly

Christmas is often ruined for me as people are always talking about how they're going to rewatch Love Actually or The Holiday. I absolutely hate both of them. The only saving grace in LA is Rowan Atkinson :)

I also hate Notting Hill, Grease, (whispers) Harry Potter films

But I absolutely love Fargo! One of my all time favourites

AffIt · 04/11/2022 14:24

@Funkyslippers and @fatnotfluffy - I hate Grease too.

Even as an 11-year-old, I could see that it was, er, deeply problematic as we would say these days (although Rizzo was and continues to be cool).

Hazlenutlatte23 · 04/11/2022 14:25

Dune. I watched it for about half an hour and couldn't tell you a single thing that was going on or who anyone was. I eventually fell asleep. Which is a shame because I love Timothy Chalamet!

Oreosareawful · 04/11/2022 14:26

The greatest showman

Friends raved about how good it was, songs on the radio etc
Halfway through I turned to my husband and asked him if it was just me who was finding it a bit shit? We watched to the end to just in case it got better, it didn't.
2 hours of my life I wont see again.

PottyDottyDotPot · 04/11/2022 14:29

All the Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring films.

NairobiGal · 04/11/2022 14:34

Shawshank. Yawn.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 04/11/2022 14:34

The Breakfast Club. Dull as ditch water.

greenacrylicpaint · 04/11/2022 14:36

encanto

WildRosie · 04/11/2022 14:55

I agree about the Shawshank Redemption. I felt obliged to sit all the way through it a few years ago but it went on way too long and the escape was predictable from the start. Never again.

Titanic. So long, so boring. I thought it would never sink @eddiemairswife that really made me laugh!
However @APJ1 I loved Fargo, bought the DVD!
Muriel's wedding: treated her wheelchair using friend appallingly, mother is in abusive relationship and dies, yet so many people think it's a great feelgood film!

I re-watched Muriels Wedding recently. She didnt treat her friend in a wheelchair that badly. Was she supposed to sacrifice her own life to her? And she apologised for what she did and they ended up together at the end so I suppose you could say it was a tale of finding oneself and redemption. But the mother's story is sad, I grant you.

Robin60 · 03/11/2022 22:57

Titanic, was way too long.

I’ve recently been to see Banshee of Inisheren - one week later and I’m still trying to work out if it’s me or was the film overhyped?

I thought The Banshees of Inisherin was utterly utterly stunning, one of the best films I've ever seen. What didn't you like about it??

Haven't read the whole thread but assume someone has pointed out that the pp on p1 complaining about the reveal in Se7en has actually got the wrong film...

Geranium1984 · 04/11/2022 15:06

Tinker tailor soldier spy ... I think we left the cinema, so slow and boring I'd lost interest and had no idea what was going on

Hoolihan · 04/11/2022 15:07

kingtamponthefurred · 04/11/2022 10:29

I fell asleep during every single one of the Star Wars movies.

Why keep going if you find them so boring?

CornishGem1975 · 04/11/2022 15:09

Haven't read through all the answers but HATED When Harry Met Sally.
