These were in the days I still went to the cinema. Years ago. I didn't get the appeal of any of the foregoing. Is it just me ?

It's based on a true story.

OK loosely based, the 'sole survivor' policy sent a soldier home from Normandy after his two brothers were killed either in the beach landings or shortly after, nd a third brother was missiing in action believed dead.

The truth is obviously more mundane, the brother was found by a pastor who told him he had orders to go home.

Lots of scenes in the film were based on true events, but obviously not about the rescue but there is some fine detail, eg the 'German' soldiers trying to surrender saying they are not German but Czech, in Czech.

I love the "Shallows" song and "Love Actually"
