SPOILERS

I'm Just watching this.

On my own at home after a bad week. And I know that in the end the surgery doesn't work and he dies.

And watching him and Elizabeth I'm just weeping.

I still can't watch those episodes, breaks my heart. Intelligent, well written, heart wrenching. And the acting is superb.

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/11/2022 00:15

Hey, I didn't say sorry you're having a bad week mate. Hope this week gets better, yeah.

poshme · 01/11/2022 00:18

Thank you.

Somehow watching the awfulness of ER brings everything into perspective.

I'll get through the week.

But mark and Elizabeth and the optimism he'll be ok- when they both KNOW he won't...

Bless you giving spoilers on a tv show for an episode nearly 20 years ago!

I love a bit of er for cathartic crying. Although my episodes of choice are the ones where carter and Lucy get stabbed.

poshme · 01/11/2022 01:08

@ChiefWiggumsBoy well I didn't want to ruin it for someone watching for the first time!

And yes, carter & Lucy was tough too.

It's my second time through. And some weeks it's cathartic, and others it's just sad...

Hope today has been a better day.

porridgecake · 01/11/2022 19:25

That series was way ahead of its time. Last time I was on bed rest I binge watched the whole lot.

MichelleScarn · 01/11/2022 19:31

Oh and the episode where one of the chief surgeons son dies and Jeanie sings Green Day's Good Riddance also in floods, but absolutely when Carter and Lucy are trapped apart and looking at each other in that episode when she's been stabbed.

FasterthanBolt · 01/11/2022 19:35

The episode that has be sobbing is when Archie Morris helps the guy with multiple personalities who starts off being awful but Archie plays cars with him at the end.

FasterthanBolt · 01/11/2022 19:38

And the flashback episodes of Luka's life in Croatia.

Littlepaws18 · 01/11/2022 19:58

I love ER every season has some incredible story lines, the characters are so real, even the outlandish plots seem real! I'm watching from when he just finds out he has a brain tumour. (There's over 300 hours of ER and I'm watching it for the third time) 900 hours of my life spent watching ER!

CloudPop · 01/11/2022 20:04

ER was epic. Absolutely loved it

Mumoftwoinprimary · 01/11/2022 20:07

Assuming you are about 40 then that is about 350,000 hours of your life that you have wasted not watching ER…..

I am exactly 40 and have spent many hours watching and rewatching (at least the first 8 seasons) multiple times. What a waste of potential ER watching time I’ve wasted! Grin

ReedOfFate · 01/11/2022 20:14

Oh where do you watch ER these days? I’d love to get back into it!

coodawoodashooda · 01/11/2022 20:15

Omg. I can't even read this thread. So, so sad.

andthentherewere · 01/11/2022 20:15

Growing up watching ER was absolutely a factor in why I became an A&E nurse. Loved watching it then and still do.

Well it sounds like you are committed so maybe you can make a change, keep focused and let this be the decade you really focus on your ER watching. Have you been wasting time with studying, exams, jobs, partners, family members, kids and friends up to now?

JubileeTrifle · 01/11/2022 20:21

I’ve just rewatched them all. I hate that they killed Greg Pratt off, it felt mean.

The bit where he asks the doctor how long and he says '4, maybe 5...' Mark says (hopefully) 'years?' Doctor says, 'months'.

😢

andthentherewere · 01/11/2022 20:23

Also, the scene that always got me was when they were trying to page Dennis Gant after he had had an disagreement with Carter and the pager goes off on the patient and they realise it's him.

Can’t listen to IZ version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow without getting choked up

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/11/2022 20:33

I haven't watched any of it for yonks, but I seem to remember a scene with Greg Pratt, when he knew what his prognosis meant for him that made me properly sob.

ER was such a good show, I'd love to find the time to re-watch it all!

magicstar1 · 01/11/2022 20:43

I’ve rewatched the whole lot a few times, but it’s been a couple of years now. It’s on All4 now so I started at season 1 last week. Up to the middle of 2 now and it’s wonderful.
