SPOILERS

I'm Just watching this.

On my own at home after a bad week. And I know that in the end the surgery doesn't work and he dies.

And watching him and Elizabeth I'm just weeping.

Definitely a few flawed heroes

I’ve just rewatched them all. I hate that they killed Greg Pratt off, it felt mean.

I howled when he died. A tear ran down his cheek and I was gone.

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 03/11/2022 18:58

And the episode with Ray Lily's. I loved that one.

Damnit now I'm going to have to go back and watch them all 😁

What are you doing to me?!

Just to cheer everyone up.

Noooo. It's no coincidence that every man I've ever fancied looks quite a lot like this...

I think attitudes towards AIDS are the most dated part - but of course, it launched in 1994 just before the drugs breakthrough of the triple cocktail so it was still a death sentence, albeit they could prolong life for longer. And Jeanie’s diagnosis and the reactions of others were such standout episodes. She was a brilliant character.

Tehe!

I have to admit the "Cure Autism Now!" posters always catch my eye and piss me off.

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 03/11/2022 19:56

Right, this thread has just made me go back to episode one...

I never got the Doug Ross thing. I don't think Clooney is that great an actor, or particularly hot! Maybe I'm just too much of a Carter girl at heart.

comfortablyfrumpy · 03/11/2022 20:11

Oh gosh I will have to re-watch. That was properly made drama.
That's my Friday night sorted now Ghosts has finished ( 😞 ).
Will stock up tissues for the Mark Green stuff.

poshme · 03/11/2022 22:11

Carter vs Kovac.

So glad I'm not Abbey. How would I decide!

I never got the George Clooney thing either.

And since ER was on, quite a few commentators have discussed the Jeanie story. She was a big character. But it was very much about her life going forward- not a death sentence.

Team Kovac here!

I found Carter a bit spoiled and immature.
Kovac had that troubled past with war and losing his family. He got a second chance with Abbey. And let's face it, far more good-looking ❤️

Now Abbey was freaking annoying!

poshme · 03/11/2022 22:24

I'll agree on Abbey being annoying.

But having just watched the episodes with her mum going crazy I feel for her.

OP posts:
CanYouFeelMyHeart · 03/11/2022 22:24

Kovac was far too gloomy a character, I thought Carter and Abby were a better match, opposites attracting and all that.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 03/11/2022 22:28

Sally Field as Abby’s mother Maggie was fabulous casting.
And yes, Pratt’s tear running down his face when he knows he’s dying is still one of the most heart stopping, emotional tv memories for me to this day.
Amazing tv.

Stopsnowing · 03/11/2022 22:36

Gant was the worst episode. Then Green. My flat mate came home to find me sobbing at the ending too hysterical to explain to her what was going on and for years later when I thought about it I would well up.
@Mary46 who does Clooney still see?

Stopsnowing · 03/11/2022 22:37

Also the death of the firefighter.

JennyWI · 03/11/2022 22:40

YEP!! cant watch that episode, I cry every time. Also cry when shay died on Chicago fire. Dr greene was my high school crush (so was luka!)

I love ER every season has some incredible story lines, the characters are so real, even the outlandish plots seem real! I'm watching from when he just finds out he has a brain tumour. (There's over 300 hours of ER and I'm watching it for the third time) 900 hours of my life spent watching ER!

If you're watching on steaming or Dvd then youve saved some time. Each episode is only 42 mins without adverts, so 331 episodes three times is only 695 hours.

Doesn't sound quite so bad!

Herejustforthisone · 03/11/2022 22:41

I absolutely adored Mark Green. Adored him. I could not cope with those episodes.

AthenaMinerva · 03/11/2022 22:48

Another episode that has really stayed with me is when Carter and his wife's baby dies during her pregnancy. It was so sad. And years later, after my own child was stillborn, I was rewatching it all and I knew this episode was coming up and I had a mental tussle about whether to watch it or not. I did, it wasn't as bad as I'd feared and it was strange experiencing the storyline from my new perspective.

Changingmynameyetagain · 03/11/2022 22:57

I watched ER again recently, probably for the 4th or 5th time.
I love it, one of my all time favourites, second only to the west wing Grin
I have to properly build up to the Mark Greene death, lots of tissues and ugly crying. DH knows he has to leave me alone for at least an hour after to pull myself together.
