Where is your tumble drier?

Not meaning to be distasteful. I know electricity prices are on the up but we need to get a tumble drier. 2 young DC plus DSC and the washing is just taking over. Not enough drying space. Evident today when bedding has had to be washed as sickness bug in household - I have bedding draped on every door, clothes horse and bannister and still the clothes horses are at capacity.

So.... we have no utility room and no space in the kitchen to add the tumble drier..... where is yours???

Also considering a washer drier but not hearing good reviews.

Ours is in the utility now, but in our previous house it was in the garage.

I have a heat pump one. More expensive to buy but very cheap to run. (About 10 to 15p per load). Mine is in my large ensuite alongside my washing machine which is perfect for me as I live alone. (So clothes off, into washer, into dryer and rehang - but I digress). A heat pump can be kept anywhere you have space as it doesn't make the air damp or the room boiling - although it warms it slightly. It doesn't need to be close to a window, a vent or water supply - just a plug socket. You do need to empty the tank after each use and a bucket kept handy could be useful to avoid possible spillage. (As the water is distilled from steam it's great for filling an iron too).

Spare bedroom or even yours or a child's is absolutely fine, anywhere you can find a corner and a socket.

Ours is in the utility room but before we built it, I’d take large items like sheets and towels to the launderette

I’d sigh a bit about what a chore it was, get a take out cappuccino from McDs and a trash mag from the Co-op next door, and get it all dried in their huge dryers. It was ace 🤣

Ours is in utility room....we also have a wooden ceiling maiden in there....
