Where is your tumble drier?

Not meaning to be distasteful. I know electricity prices are on the up but we need to get a tumble drier. 2 young DC plus DSC and the washing is just taking over. Not enough drying space. Evident today when bedding has had to be washed as sickness bug in household - I have bedding draped on every door, clothes horse and bannister and still the clothes horses are at capacity.

So.... we have no utility room and no space in the kitchen to add the tumble drier..... where is yours???

Also considering a washer drier but not hearing good reviews.

Thanks for the suggestions - something to consider.

To those posters who feel the need to pick me up on my spelling - seriously?!?! I'm slightly dyslexic and feeling so run down after a sickness bug that my spelling is the least of my worries!!

Utility room. Currently trying to use the heated airer as an alternative. Can appreciate the nightmare of tummy bugs and getting things sorted faster.
Can’t bear washing all over the house for days on in heated airers, especially with the heating still off.

Hope everyone’s soon recovered.

Thank you.

It's stressing me out that there's washing hanging up everywhere! It's beyond a joke!

Spare bedroom

TwoBlueFish · 30/10/2022 15:44

In the garage. Hoping to create a lootility next year and then have it stacked with the washing machine.

gogohmm · 30/10/2022 15:44

Kitchen, stacked on top of washing machine

Swampthing55 · 30/10/2022 15:45

In our boiler cupboard under the boiler and then pulled out to use it. Warms the kitchen up a treat

Multipleexclamationmarks · 30/10/2022 15:48

Under stairs cupboard.
It's also not expensive to run, just make sure you get a A+ energy efficiency one.

CuriousCatfish · 30/10/2022 15:53

When I had one, it broke and I never replaced it. It was in the spare bedroom. I don't have a garage or utility room.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 30/10/2022 15:55

In our kitchen diner, no space for it in our utility. It's in a gap the previous owners had a fridge in, for some reason they had 2 fridges so it fits nicely.

Havent really used it yet. It went on for an hour to dry DD13 PJs that just wouldnt get dry on the line (seriously 2 days and they were still sopping wet!!) And they're her favourite set.

Cattytabby · 30/10/2022 15:56

You have to put it where you can fit it. I had a washer/dryer once but hated it. If you don't have a garage, there's nothing wrong with putting it in the downstairs loo if you can vent it. I had a friend who had washing machine and a dryer in her loo and it was fine.

stuntbubbles · 30/10/2022 15:57

Kitchen, stacked on the washing machine. Try not to use it much: the secret weapon instead is a good dehumidifier next to any clothes horses.

crosstalk · 30/10/2022 15:58

In the garage. Covered in cobwebs. No idea what sort it is but you have to remember to take the water tray out at times. Haven't used it for ages since no DC at home and until the rain started late this month could dry everything on an outside line. Anyone know if some of those electric airers are any good? and what they use versus tumble dryer? May have to disturb the spiders soon.

AlexandraPeppernose · 30/10/2022 15:59

In the conservatory. We did have it in the shed but it wouldn't work when it was very cold.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/10/2022 16:01

I have a dedicated laundry room, but if I didn't, and if I had a dishwasher and no other available space, I'd get rid the dishwasher in two seconds flat to make room for a dryer.

VerifiedBot2351 · 30/10/2022 16:02

ours was in a cupboard in the conservatory, but we’ve just moved it to the kitchen. It’s the first time I’ve had a tumble dryer, as opposed to a washer-dryer, and a washer-dryer is pointless by comparison.

caringcarer · 30/10/2022 16:03

Ours in utility room but in previous house in garage. My sister has a stacking kit and washing machine under and tumble dryer on top.

Calmdown14 · 30/10/2022 16:06

In the shed. It's just a small size one and I don't use it often.

It's only a few steps from the back door. Better there where it can vent properly

sorrynotathome · 30/10/2022 16:08

In the cellar. I don't use it nowadays.

I had a Zanussi washer-dryer when I was younger - it worked pretty well as I recall.

autumn1610 · 30/10/2022 16:11

We have ours in the porch as no where else to go

GordonShakespearedoesChristmas · 30/10/2022 16:12

Front room in a terraced house. Nowhere else to put it!

SquigglePigs · 30/10/2022 16:17

Ours is in a small utility room but as you've already said that isn't an option, locations I know people have had them - kitchen, spare bedroom, shed (with electricity cabled in), landing.

Hope your family all recover quickly.

riotlady · 30/10/2022 16:20

Ours is in the kitchen but when we lived in a flat it was in our bedroom. I actually quite liked it- short trip to put clothes away, warmed the bedroom up nicely
