Where is your tumble drier?

Not meaning to be distasteful. I know electricity prices are on the up but we need to get a tumble drier. 2 young DC plus DSC and the washing is just taking over. Not enough drying space. Evident today when bedding has had to be washed as sickness bug in household - I have bedding draped on every door, clothes horse and bannister and still the clothes horses are at capacity.

So.... we have no utility room and no space in the kitchen to add the tumble drier..... where is yours???

Also considering a washer drier but not hearing good reviews.

@NC12345665 sorry that my slight dyslexia comes across as ignorant to you. Please kindly do one!

Thankfully l have space in my kitchen but when l lived in a one bed place l just had it in the bedroom

Utility room, if you have a heat pump dryer it should not be used in a cold space as it will not work properly and will use more electricity, vented ones are best for cold spaces like garages and sheds

@EndlessMagpies Is the futility room an upgrade on the room of doom?!

That's the one 😂

We have a downstairs loo with a utility cupboard. The people who lived here before us had their dryer stacked on top of their washing machine within it, but I bought a washer dryer when we moved (a Samsung eco bubble add wash, I really rate it). I don't dry everything in it, probably only 50% of washing, but it really helps!

User17956743 · 30/10/2022 14:55

If you are going to put it in a cold room OP a heat pump type may not be suitable as they don't work efficiently in the cold

iveseenitinthemovies · 30/10/2022 14:55

Having recently moved home unexpectedly my tumble dryer has ended up in the hall way, as its a heat pump it warms my flat really well. Very cheap to run too.

Utility room

NotOnYourWelly · 30/10/2022 14:56

On top of the washing machine in the cupboard under the stairs

Crazymadchickenlady · 30/10/2022 15:00

Ours is in the utility room but in previous houses we have had one in the shed and in the house before that one in the spare bedroom (could be used as a bedside cabinet!)

Handyweatherstation · 30/10/2022 15:09

We have a washer-dryer and it's in the bathroom. Only place for it.

Tassen · 30/10/2022 15:14

Currently in the garage, but in previous houses it's been in the kitchen or a spare bedroom.

BMW6 · 30/10/2022 15:19

On top of the washing machine in the utility room. Vented so I drape the hose out of the little window at the top.

Yabado · 30/10/2022 15:20

i have an outside shed - well it’s like a big cupboard solid and built with the house with a full size door
we keep tools and paint and the tumble dryer in it
it’s right by the front door so easy to access
Im getting a new heat pump dryer in a few months and will get rid of this one

hiredandsqueak · 30/10/2022 15:20

We have a spare downstairs bedroom so it is in there. It's only inconvenient if we have somebody come to stay tbh.

FixTheBone · 30/10/2022 15:22

Ours is in the porch (quite big 4mx2m) heat pump codensor. Works well

Montague22 · 30/10/2022 15:23

In the playroom

mondaytosunday · 30/10/2022 15:29

I have a washer drier combo and it's fine (came with the house), but I only have two people so don't need two machines going at the same time. I have it upstairs in a hall closet I enlarged for it.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 30/10/2022 15:30

In the cupboard under the stairs: in our old house it was in the shed.

Bimblesalong · 30/10/2022 15:31

Utility room. Currently trying to use the heated airer as an alternative. Can appreciate the nightmare of tummy bugs and getting things sorted faster.
Can’t bear washing all over the house for days on in heated airers, especially with the heating still off.

Hope everyone’s soon recovered.

WhiteFire · 30/10/2022 15:35

In our detached garage, I wanted a heat pump one but it wouldn't have been suitable.

A dryer can go anywhere there is a space really.

MadeInChorley · 30/10/2022 15:35

In a laundry room upstairs in our house. There’s a pulley, washing machine, tumble DRYER and sink, plus storage, hanging space and sorting areas. It’s so bloody useful and my favourite room in the house.

perenniallymessy · 30/10/2022 15:38

In our last house we had one in the airing cupboard where the hot water cylinder had been (boiler had been changed to a combi). I just used to leave the door open when it was in use and it warmed the hallway up nicely.

So any built in cupboard could hold one.

RandomUsernameHere · 30/10/2022 15:39

Kitchen. In our old house we had a condenser one in a cupboard upstairs which worked well.

glamourousindierockandroll · 30/10/2022 15:40

In this house it's in a utility room. Washing machine is in the kitchen, annoyingly.

Previously, I've had to have it in bedrooms with the hose out of the window.
