Delphi murders - suspect finally in custody

Just thought you should know that they finally have someone in custody for the murder of the two little girls in Dephi, Indiana.

The footage was anything but clear - they went to Disney etc to try to clean it up and make it sharper but there just weren't enough pixels.

The depths of depravity involved in killing them is sickening.

It’s not like perpetrators are roaming around like savages, they are able to commit dark acts but also hold down jobs, have relationships and even their own children.

I hope the souvenir he took is his ultimate downfall.

Well only from my recollection, but I've been following it for ages. Kelsi did post on Twitter and I think one of the family has commented on Facebook. The man wasn't whispering, it's just low quality audio. I don't think the police said they were meeting a man on the tracks initially - that's only very recently come up.

I was so relieved to hear this news. This case has really haunted me and I’ve checked regularly for any updates on the investigation. I really hope if this is the perpetrator they can secure a conviction and get some justice for the family. Those poor young girls, breaks my heart. I’ll be glued to the press conference tomorrow.

That press conference was something else. Religion, sniffing, endless self congratulations and then finally a bit of actual news. Cannot imagine a similar set up in the UK.

Lol wasn’t it just, true American theatrics. Still, there’s no doubt that team cared deeply about getting justice for those little girls. They deserve a bit of self congratulation.

The DM may well have posted details on Friday, but the official announcement of Friday's arrest in NW Indiana was only made today, and from the remarks of the prosecutor, there is more to the case than we are being told today.

There's no need to mock a culture that's different from your own. 'True American theatrics' indeed... Get over yourselves. The sniffing is a tic of Supt Carter. It wasn't an attempt at drama - you can hear it in several press conferences he has given, probably thanks to allergies. The very clear personal commitment on his part to the solving of these murders, his updates over the years, and his determination to find the killer has been a key part of the investigation, and the publicity he has given to the case has very likely been responsible for the huge number of tips that have come in.

It's a rural community, with farming families that have known each other for generations. Delphi has less than 3000 residents. The two girls had their lives snuffed out, and the murders have affected the community deeply.

And fwiw, detectives executed a search warrant on the suspect's home on October 13th, spending hours searching through the home, and removing items from inside, as well as Allen's vehicle. They also dug some trenches in the back yard of the Allen house that night, and appeared to use a metal detector in the area. Allen was arrested on Wednesday, charged with two counts of murder on Friday, but the charging document remains sealed and the investigation is ongoing.

There will probably be a hearing some time in the future to determine whether the charging documents can be unsealed, presumably with news organisations petitioning in favour, and depending on the status of the investigation the prosecutor arguing against.

Allen is not cooperating and pleading not guilty. The evidence must be compelling....bit of prison time might make him reevaluate his stance.

Sounds like there's A LOT more going on

I just watched Mike and Becky Patty doing a bit at the end and confirming that RA developed the funeral photos for them. I can't believe how measured and calm Mike was, just the grace they have to keep going. All the cameras and mikes shoved in their faces, and the stress of the day.

It sounds like they have plenty of evidence against the guy. Potentially DNA as it was 2 weeks from search to arrest. I think DC did well and he is very emotionally invested in the case. I didn't find it dramatic etc. Hopefully justice coming for Abby and Libby 🙏 🙏

This case absolutely infuriates me. I am so glad that it seems likely that they have caught the evil person who did this. It made me so mad that they had actual video of this POS and he’s been walking around the last 5 years!!

I am horrified to hear, during an interview with Libby’s grandmother, that apparently the man who’s been charged actually processed Libby’s funeral photos. Then passed them to Libby’s mum saying they wouldn’t have to pay.

Its so mysterious- the amount of secrecy. I know that often it’s so they can get a tight conviction. But I’ve seen people speculate that there are more people involved in this crime than just one and that it might have been a snuff film or some bigger organised crime situation.

Sadly, though, there are some evil men out there who do just get off on violently stabbing women. This is what happened to Michelle Martinko. LE thought that she must have been killed by someone who knew her, but no it was a random sadist pervert.

Also, a press release says that public servants bringing this action are afraid for their own lives and families. I wonder why this is?

I imagine they are trying to get from him who else may have been involved. Evidence against him is compelling, I’m sure.

On a report that I heard yesterday, it said that there was no sign of a struggle?

His wife apparently knew nothing. I've also heard the house has been completely emptied out

The local court cannot deal with it and is asking for help, they are completely overwhelmed

Also, there's a hearing on 22nd to unseal the affidavit. People are going crazy for this case
