I’m recovering from covid and I’ve been quite ill. I’ve actually gone an entire week without eating anything. I have fresubin to make up the calories but still.

Anhway, I really danced some pickled onion monster munch. So I got some. And I could taste it. Just.

So I had another. And another.

In the end, I had five packets. I felt good. I ate something!!

Then I realised my mistake. I have a sore now on my bottom left gum. Another one on the bottom right gum. And the skin has peeled away on my tongue.

Damn those crisps. Still have 4 left but I will eat those in moderation and scoff bags of cheesy balls instead.

Oooo! I just remembered I hid a pack in a saucepan in the cupboard last week so evil DH & DC wouldn't demolish them all before I get a look in (from previous experience!)

Thanks OP! Going to get them now! Only he 1 pack though so should be OK.

Quackpot · 28/10/2022 21:40

There's only about 6 crisps in a bag

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 28/10/2022 21:41

My poison is flaming hot Cheetos. They dye your fingers red but dear god those stale textured nobbly sticks are addictive! The following morning, ooh the regrets!

You might want to avoid Cofresh chilli and lemon potato grills. A single bag on a good day will clean the skin from your mouth.

pagopago · 28/10/2022 21:59

Surprised the MN food police haven't appeared on this thread yet to condescendingly lecture about the evils of eating too many crisps Hmm

They're too busy downing Monster Munch multipacks.

I used to love the beef ones when
i was pg with baby no 1!

Narwhaleahoy · 28/10/2022 22:04

I’d forgotten about them. They are amazing!

I ate a large bag of Takis by accident last week. About an hour later I felt like I had swallowed the sun itself and was praying for a swift and merciful death.

This made me howl and I don't even know what Takis are!

SanFranBear · 28/10/2022 22:06

The Roast Beef giant claws are my current nemesis.. only sell rather large bags and I think, I'll just have a few - and then inhale the entire thing! So so SO tasty (and I think answer the 'foot' or 'monster' question!)

BarrelOfOtters · 28/10/2022 22:08

Coop Chardonnay vinegar crisps are hardcore. The M&S salt and vinegar shapes in the big bags are just tremendous for a more every day losing all feeling in your mouth event,

DH, DD & I all had covid last December. Ever since then I can't abide the taste of any prepackaged food that has oil in it, such as crisps, jar sauces, peanut butter etc. Even some nuts have been known to make me feel disgusted, I couldn't work out what the problem was for ages, until I realised the common factor was oil, & that (most of them) are processed, hence are prone to going off/rancid more quickly, & I seem to be able to smell & taste it sooner. I can also smell/taste mould sooner than DH & DD. So much food tastes vile to me now. I've not eaten crisps at all this year, which is probably a good thing, but I do miss them (until I can smell them, still vile).

Enjoy your crisps OP, hope your mouth feels better soon! Grin

I absentmindedly demolished a family size box of Maltesers once. Popping each one into my mouth and sucking the chocolate off before eating the little ball of honeycomb loveliness. What I didn’t realise until it was far too late is that the honeycomb is the same texture as sandpaper. The roof of my mouth and my tongue were sore for a week.

My mouth is watering after reading this thread.

Clevererthanyou · 28/10/2022 22:24

I could bollock a Twiglet right now 🤤

Also, PSA, I've had ulcers due to bitter crisps many many times over my life, its a thing.

Triceratopsrock · 28/10/2022 22:28

I haven’t RTFT - but I feel that this is a good place to share some crisp wisdom I’ve gained In my extensive experience.

  1. if you eat a 6 pack of prawn cocktail quavers, your farts will smell prawny for a good 48 hours.

  2. too many salt and vinegar discos will give you Vesuvius like burning craters on the roof of your mouth.

  3. Pringles are the devil - dance with them at your peril.

  4. a share pack of McCoy’s sizzling hot king prawn will hurt your bum hole worse than Labour.

  5. kettle chips alt and vinegar and a can of coke cures all ills.

thank me later 🤗

Has nobody had the hand cooked Chardonnay salt snd vinegar from Aldi?
They're lethal!

Scarfweather · 28/10/2022 22:46

Can anyone remember Worcestershire sauce crisps? Do they still exist?

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 28/10/2022 22:47

The Co-op salt and vinegar crisps are awesome but about 48 later bits of skin start to peel off of the inside of my mouth. So that's lovely.

SquitMcJit · 28/10/2022 22:47

@TheGirlWhoLived

Yes! Where have the ready salted chipsticks (in the red packets) gone? I still look for them in a forlorn fashion in random shops - hoping one day they will be there.

SquitMcJit · 28/10/2022 22:48

Yes, Seabrooks do them

Yes, Seabrooks do Worcestershire Sauce crisps.

Not ready salted chipsticks, sadly. Sorry for any crisp confusion there

Oh good, YES on the Malteasers front. You suck them down to the honeycomb bit which promptly grates the inside of your mouth, the traitorous little bastards. But by GOD they’re good.

Oh no no no not for me, they are the crisp equivalent of a Rich Tea. Would be OK if dipped in chilli and onion powder.

TwinsAndTiramisu · 28/10/2022 22:52

Just placemarking so I can come back and read this thread properly when I have time. Properly chuckling out loud on the first two pages Grin

I one ate a 20 pack of skips in one sitting (emptied them into a large plastic bowl) and I would do it again

My kind of person😁
