Heed my warning (about crisps)

I’m recovering from covid and I’ve been quite ill. I’ve actually gone an entire week without eating anything. I have fresubin to make up the calories but still.

Anhway, I really danced some pickled onion monster munch. So I got some. And I could taste it. Just.

So I had another. And another.

In the end, I had five packets. I felt good. I ate something!!

Then I realised my mistake. I have a sore now on my bottom left gum. Another one on the bottom right gum. And the skin has peeled away on my tongue.

Damn those crisps. Still have 4 left but I will eat those in moderation and scoff bags of cheesy balls instead.

Woh Pineapple is well scary. I am allergic to just about everything. Except for Pineapple, Kiwi, and Gluten Free Vegan Cornettos (Yep, praise, thanks and glorify). Did you know it's actually possible to eat TOO MUCH pineapple, and when you combine it with Kiwi,, it creates a chemical reaction. Nope, me neither. Do now.

I did the same with Beef Monster munch once, ate a whole six pack and they scratched my gums and made my mouth sore.

I live in Germany where monster Münch is not available Sad

Might be possible to order on Amazon?

pagopago · 29/10/2022 20:10

Crisps in Spain are really good - think the brands are Lays and also Ruffles. When there I always go to the nearest Mercado and get some for the room.

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 29/10/2022 20:10

About fifteen years ago, I ate a bag of Lidl's own pickled onion monster munch. They had obviously had some kind of malfunction in the seasoning department, because all the holes were full - and I mean FULL - of pickled onion dust. My mouth was burned to shreds, but it was amazing.

Every bag from there on has been a disappointment Halloween Grin

I’ve never liked foreign crisps.

Spain, Turkey or even America. Couldn’t eat ‘em

There's one from Israel called Bamba. I was reminded of it when a PP mentioned peanut flavour Wotsits, which is what Bamba is. I tried it at a Jewish friend's house. Didn't like it exactly, but it was interesting. I remember seeking it out in the World Foods section to try it again to decide if I liked it.

These are my favourite, M&S salt & vinegar combo mix not only are they tongue stripping good there is a specific order to eat them. Tubes, then wheels, curls then the ridged shapes. God, I love them, I can polish off a whole bag myself.

This has got to be the funniest thread!! So random!

Vapeyvapevape · 29/10/2022 21:13

Friday night is Pringles night for me , I get into bed and eat 2 tubes of salt and vinegar, my tongue doesn't get sore but I do wake up in the night feeling a tad thirsty.
Malteasers on the other hand are bastards and always make the roof of my mouth sore .

You have obviously never tried Chipsters from France ( called Cipsters in Italy). They only come in ready salted but are amazing! My whole family is obsessed by them to the extent that DN was given an entire box of them last year for Christmas and voted it his best Christmas present ever!

Omg you've got Quarterbacks! I used to eat them for lunch when I worked in a porky scratchings factory

ParrotsAteThemAll · 29/10/2022 21:21

I don’t want to boast or anything, but I once bought a multi 6 pack of hula hoops (salt n vinegar, cheese onion and ready salted) and found a rogue pack of beef hoola hoops in there!

BooseysMom · 29/10/2022 21:21

DS bought these from an American sweetshop today..£2.60 for a small tube but they are imported. He collects packaging and will one day be able to.open a museum!

Absolutely no judgement, but two full length tubes? And you don't feel sick?

Respect.

Haffiana · 29/10/2022 21:25

Pringles are drugs. No-one in the whole universe EVER has only eaten one Pringle.

Two big tubes?? I’m impressed!

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 29/10/2022 22:02

Cold War era Cheesey NikNaks were ok but a Scampi’n Lemon NikNak was like that scene in ‘Alien’ where the monster spurts acid everywhere. Probably dissolved your internal organs.

Does anyone else remember the hedgehog flavour crisps of the early 1980s’? Basically smoky bacon flavour, if I remember correctly, which is another flavour of horror.

Yes. But I think the brand was Hedgehog, not the flavour .

I was vegetarian at the time and I remember having the piss taken out of me at school for having 'hedgehog' crisps. Clearly I am still not over it.

GettingStuffed · 29/10/2022 22:25

I'm current eating Lidl deluxe this chlli, I bought them by mistake I thought I'd bought chicken and stuffing. They're nice though. My grandson ( 5) loves the halapeño and cheese crisps. He'll eat two, run around going hot hot hot. Then come back for more . Eventually he'll ask for a drink then it starts again.

The other thing about these is the variety of shapes ensures an all over/even vinegar burn. Like a spray tan for the mouth - but acetic acid.
