I have been given a voucher Smile

Books
books
books

and…maybe a book

AdInfinitum12 · 17/10/2022 15:32

£80 will probably get you a couple of bottles of water and a newspaper.

@BlackForestCake they used to have cabinets of fountain pens , now they have biros in multi packets hanging on a plinth
Shame really

Ours does still sell decent pens, but no staffed counter anymore Sad

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 17/10/2022 15:37

I’d say ask the bargain hunters on the Christmas bargains thread but they hate WHSmith since 20%off gate

yerdaindicatesonbends · 17/10/2022 15:43

Books books books, and maybe a few magazines for good measure. I already have an obscene amount of notebooks and pens but y know, if they had a nice one I might.

GettingOrganisedNow · 17/10/2022 15:49

Board games and Lego (if they still do those), and the rest on books, and a nice big bar of chocolate. Oh, and some nice coloured pens. Maybe a magazine.

liveforsummer · 17/10/2022 15:52

Do some Xmas shopping (books stocking fillers etc) then gift yourself something you actually want from the xmas budget 😆

EndlessMagpies · 17/10/2022 15:52

It is a miracle that they are still going, if you ask me.

AdoraBell · 17/10/2022 15:53

Not sure that you can use a voucher to buy another voucher. I would check how long it is valid and buy either books or if you need stationary then stick up on that. That kind of thing.

howaboutchocolate · 17/10/2022 15:53

printer ink cartridges. then I'd use the money I'd saved on those to buy something I actually want.

thelobsterquadrille · 17/10/2022 15:54

I'd spend it on books and maybe a board game or two.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/10/2022 15:55

£80 wow. What a waste of £80.

it’s such an expensive and yet grubby shop.

Manekinek0 · 17/10/2022 16:01

I love stationary, magazines and books so I could easily spend it twice over. I would probably get a nice diary for next year, some good pens, a couple of books and some chocolate.

BuryingAcorns · 17/10/2022 16:01

Note books, good quality pens, a few novels and maybe some chocolate and magazines. I could happily, easily spend £80 in there.

if you have kids I'd stock up on stocking fillers: story books, chocolates, felt pens, cute pencil cases, mini Lego figures, a favourite comic annual etc.

Not sure why this made me chuckle so much

marsbara · 17/10/2022 16:06

I'd buy a couple of books and then stock up on birthday cards for the rest of the year. If there's anything leftover, a couple of books of stamps.

Hellocatshome · 17/10/2022 15:22

I think they sell gjft cards in there for other shops like Amazon, Nandos etc I would buy a voucher for a shop you actually want to buy something from.

That's exactly what I would do.

The kids always get gifted WH Smith vouchers from a relative every Christmas. My son always buys a PlayStation gift card with his!

I'd do this!

Wafflesnsniffles · 17/10/2022 16:08

Books, magazines, notebooks, pens, art stuff, jigsaws. Truck load of chocolate!

BalmyBalmes · 17/10/2022 16:09

You won't need to use all the vouchers once.
I'd buy books and treat myself to a couple of magazines every month all winter. I don't usually buy magazines as I just can't afford them

BalmyBalmes · 17/10/2022 16:10

You won't need to use all the voucher at* once

TheDogsMother · 17/10/2022 16:11

Jigsaws for me. Or you can use it to buy Christmas gifts. Or spend it on the giant bar of chocolate they always insist on offering at the checkout.

RedAmber · 17/10/2022 16:12

Some of the PPs are hilarious! Really made me giggle! Thanks!

May I ask OP who gave you the voucher? Relative? Work? Someone who hates you?

What was 20% off gate?!

WellTidy · 17/10/2022 16:16

I’d buy loads and loads of box files, lever arch files etc in a lovely pattern, to replace the random selection we have in the study. And maybe a matching pen pot or something like that .
