What are your recurring dreams about?

I have a few. They are never nice ones and I've been having them for years, probably every couple of months.

The one I hate the most is where I've forgotten I have pets after leaving them alone for months locked up in the house. For some reason I'm living somewhere else. Sometimes it's cats and other times it's dogs and the dread of going back to the house where they have more than likely starved to death is awful.

Another I have is living in a country that's at war. I hear the planes flying over and its just terrifying.

Do you have any recurring dreams?

Mine are always bad too. Planes dropping out of the sky, or getting onto a Zoom call and the person on the other end shoots themself.

The less bad ones involve all my teeth falling out, or my hair.

ofwarren · 15/10/2022 18:43

I wonder if anyone has 'nice' recurring dreams 🤔

I always dream I find another room in my house and think of what I'm going to put in there. The house is always familiar in my dream but it's not the house I live in now, it kind of just represents it. I looked it up and apparently it means I think I have unfulfilled potential which makes sense.

DaftyLass · 15/10/2022 18:48

I dream I have to get to a body of water, and do a thing.
Sometimes I'm looking for a spot along a river to launch a canoe, or maybe trying to catch a ferry, or I'm at a wharf trying to stop a boat sinking.
In some way, there is always water, and a task.

So not a scary dream? I'm jealous!

A tidal wave - it's really scary, I have it 3/4 times a year

Fascinating
Have you ever looked up what it's supposed to represent?

Same! What does it mean I wonder?

Whitepouringglue · 15/10/2022 18:49

Leaving children in the car.

Spikes.

Walking around looking for someone who has unaccountably vanished.

MassiveSalad22 · 15/10/2022 18:50

Yes why are recurring dreams never nice??

Mine is never the exact same but I’m always in the same fantasy town either totally lost or on wrong bus/bus taking ages/crowds/tube station flooding/on wrong train/can’t get to right platform. It’s like, I can see where I need to be, it’s right there, but I can’t get there. Once I’d lost my keys too.

Think it’s to do with my lack of career.

Spikes? In what way?

Whoops should've read the entire post! I got so excited when I saw it 😀

Unfulfilled potential makes sense

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 15/10/2022 18:50

I used to have a dream where I'd be walking/hiking, I'd look down, and find I had no shoes. That stopped when I left that relationship, so it obviously had something to do with escaping the situation.

My current recurring dream is that I've got to the end of a self-catering holiday (different locations each time), we have to leave by 10am on the final morning, it's almost that time as in minutes to go, and nobody else in my holiday party is making any effort to clean up and pack to leave. Nobody. I'm having to apologise to the owners for them, chivvy them along, pretty much pack for them.

A reoccurring one I've had for years, I'm a child living in my childhood home, we run outside to the sight of fighter planes flying over, I start running and find myself being chased by soldiers round the estate.

The type of planes changes on different dream times from WW2 to modern and occasionally alien 👽

Zombie apocalypse and another delightful one for me is knowing I'm going to be caught for murder as the body is about to be discovered. I don't always know who I murdered or how, its always around the fear of being discovered.
Disclaimer, I never have or intend to murder anyone 😁

Hepherlous · 15/10/2022 18:54

This is so interesting! My recurring dream is also finding a room in my house (or a former home) that I didn't know about. Some times I discover an entire house I'd forgotten I had. Often the room/house is dilapidated but I'm excited about the potential. It's a nostalgic but optimistic dream (so not a bad one) and stays with me all day.

No way, that is literally what my war one is about. Honestly, I was going to mention the alien thing but thought it was a bit random.

I have that dream of imaging an extra room in our house too. It is always at the foot of the stairs and there is a door that I've never noticed before.

I also dream sometimes that I'm being chased. I wake up before I am caught.

My third recurring dream is quite a nice one - I imagine that our family can fly. A bit like the children would fly in Peter Pan. We fly down the local pavements instead of walking on them.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 15/10/2022 18:55

The ocean, drowning, tsunamis, getting trapped on a rock at high tide, being on a boat. I hate water so it sucks it features so much in my dreams

ScoobySnacks1 · 15/10/2022 18:58

I’ve recently started having a recurring dream where I am about to swallow something that will choke me. The objects are never anything significant for me to remember what they are but I do remember the one from the dream I had this week and it was a small, black cylindrical object.

Whatever the object is, it is literally at the back of my mouth and I am aware that if I swallow I will choke. So I end up sitting bolt upright in bed, either sticking my fingers into my mouth or trying to gag to avoid accidentally swallowing it.

Its honestly terrifying! Anyone know what it may signify?

Watto1 · 15/10/2022 18:58

I have to sit an exam that I haven’t revised for is a common one of mine. Another one is where I’m wandering around the corridors of my old school not knowing which classroom I’m supposed to be in.

GeorgeorRuth · 15/10/2022 18:59

@ofwarren I wonder what the meaning is of it..
