What are your recurring dreams about?

I have a few. They are never nice ones and I've been having them for years, probably every couple of months.

The one I hate the most is where I've forgotten I have pets after leaving them alone for months locked up in the house. For some reason I'm living somewhere else. Sometimes it's cats and other times it's dogs and the dread of going back to the house where they have more than likely starved to death is awful.

Another I have is living in a country that's at war. I hear the planes flying over and its just terrifying.

Do you have any recurring dreams?

Yes, I have two and they're not positive. One is where I'm driving my car along a windy main road and suddenly find myself upside down in the middle of the back seat, unable to reach the steering wheel. I then struggle to get upright and back into the driving seat while the car is wildly out of control. It always comes off the road and I wake up before the inevitable crash.
The other one is being flung out of a rollercoaster carriage as it hurtles round a bend - always wake up before I hit the ground.

I used to have the crumbling teeth one, but not had that for ages now.
I get the discovered room one, but for me it's always an extra part of the garden that I'd either forgotten about or didn't know about. When I wake up I'm always disappointed that it's not real.
My most recurring dream is the sea. Dream varies, but I'm always on holiday, and there are always rocks to clamber over. The sea is usually stormy. It's usually not a nice dream, but occasionally is straightforward and pleasant.

Me and DH have murdered someone and buried their body. There are building works going on and the body is about to be discovered.
It is so vivid and real, I wake up thinking we really had. In fact I'm not 100% convinced we haven't done this and 'buried' the memory!

Also get the aeroplane crashing. I'm not on it just watching

I have the toilet dream occasionally - public toilets, lots of choice, but nothing 'suitable', too high, too low, weird design, blocked, I even had one designed as an armchair once! But I always woke from those actually needing the toilet, so I presume it was my body sending messages to my subconscious. I dream that less often now that I regularly get up in the night to go anyway.

I don't swim through the air. You now how you can use parallel bars to swing yourself forwards? My dream is that I discover I can swing myself much further than the average person, that I can effectively swing and then float through the air for a few hundred metres before touching down again.

I had the 'late leaving the holiday setting' dream again last night. We packed up most stuff by 10am but then hung around the resort as we had left lots of books and things on the bookshelves of our accommodation; and we tried to retrieve them at 5pm but weren't allowed.

Rejection.
A million different dreams, & in them all I'm being rejected by people (usually men!) But it's my Big Thing in life, my worst fear, so I suppose it's natural that it enters my dreams.

Btw, here you go, girls. I find this incredibly accurate.

I have two recurring dreams, one that I remove my contact lenses only to find another set of lenses underneath. I keep removing them but there are always more.

My other dream is that I’m in a fast moving car and either my seat is too far away to reach the steering wheel or I’m in the back and can’t get into the front to take control.

Wow @Rocklobstershell snap!

My most regular one is about me rearranging the furniture in a house but the house has such a weird layout, there's about 18 staircases in a separate section of the house inaccessible from the rest of the house, absolutely lovely property and if I had any artistic still beyond drawing a skinman, I'd try to draw it.

I have 2 with many variations of those.

  1. I have got back together with my ex husband. He, our children and everyone else is very pleased. I am filled with apprehension. Towards the end of the dream, he says something awful or just gives me the "look" and I know he is still dangerous and getting back together is a mistake. (I left him 18 years ago!)

  2. A very recent one. I dream of where I volunteer and talking to someone there that I have a crush on. This is quite depressing when I wake up because he's never shown any interest in me in real life!

About the "crush" dream - I used to have frequent dreams about being madly in love with someone - usually a complete stranger, sometimes someone I know IRL or had known, but never fancied. In a lot of dream interpretations in different cultures, dreaming of being suddenly romatically interested in, or even happily in love with, a specific person has nothing to do with that person, but reveals a hidden or suppressed or neglected aspect of your own personality. For example, if you dream of your authoritarian boss, it may mean you want and need to be more assertive and proactive, or that you want more in terms of career, success, etc. If you dream of someone you knew at some past point in your life, it may mean you want to get back some of the qualities you had, or some of the things that were important to you, at that time.

I dream about plane crashes and have done so since I was a child.

Bit scary considering that I grew up about half a mile from where Concorde was built.

I've just remembered, I also have amazing, cinematic recurring dreams of being able to ice skate my way out of danger, whilst being chased by baddies through marble-floored shopping malls. In my socks.

I'm like and ice skating demon even though there's no ice and I'm in my socks. I get away from them every time.

I'm always so disappointed to realise I can't ice skate like that, when I wake up.

I have them Maybe only 2/3 times a year but consistently since I was young.

It's like watching a michael bay action movie in my head!

CandyLeBonBon · 16/10/2022 18:40

My other recurring dream as a child was being chased by a demon into my school, after dark and hiding under a desk whilst he was trying to find me. Had that one a lot!

My adult ones also seem to centre around not being able to stop a car from crashing into the car in front, in spite of the fact that my foot is pushing the brake to the floor - we just inch closer and closer to the car in front and I'm desperately trying to stop it!

That's probably enough for now!
