What a huge loss to the entertainment industry Sad a massive part of my childhood with the Harry Potter franchise.

I’m so sad, no one else could have portrayed Hagrid, he was such a big part of my life growing up because of those films

JeanMarie · 14/10/2022 18:53

I'm so sad to hear this. I first saw him in Tutti Frutti..and loved Cracker. It was great to see him being loved again as Hagrid when my boys ( and me) watched HP.
He was one of those actors that you just knew if he was in a programme...it would be good.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 14/10/2022 18:53

Oh I'm so sad about this. The pp who said 72 is no age these days is right. I guess he was a big man all his life though, that must have been bad for the health.

So many gone from the HP films now.

PoundShopPrincess · 14/10/2022 18:56

I was so sad to hear this. He was a great actor whether comic or serious or sinister. DS is sad because he knows him from Harry Potter. I loved him in Cracker and National Treasure. DH met him a few times in his Tutti Frutti days.
RIP Robbie.

Also not forgetting his appearance as Dr Samuel Johnson in an episode of Blackadder III. So funny.

Yes so hilarious. The Dictionary burning in the grate 😆

derxa · 14/10/2022 19:06
Dr Johnson
RoachTheHorse · 14/10/2022 19:06

I'm surprisingly saddened. He's always come across as such a kind and pleasant man, as well as being incredibly talented.

whoruntheworldgirls · 14/10/2022 19:07

So sad, brilliant actor. RIP

Georgeskitchen · 14/10/2022 19:08

No way!!! I loved Cracker xx

StormzyinaTCup · 14/10/2022 19:30

@derxa 👍🏻- it’s an Aardvark, it’s a bloody Aardvark🤣

MissyB1 · 14/10/2022 17:54

Loved him in Cracker, he made the character totally believable. RIP.

Cracker was bloody brilliant. Loved him in that but not seen much of his more recent stuff.

MaiseyAndreaMyArse · 14/10/2022 19:37

Fitz 💔

CPL593H · 14/10/2022 19:46

Oddly enough watched National Treasure for the first time last night. A very different part from Fitz or lovely Hagrid but he was brilliant.

Wheredoallthepensgo · 14/10/2022 20:13

Another absolutely gutted Cracker fan here. It was compulsive and compelling viewing, one of the very very best things ever on television.

He was also absolutely perfect as Hagrid and JK said no one else could play him. She pictured him as Hagrid before the movies were even considered.

RIP.

Very many people will remember him from Cracker. 72 seems young these days.

I remember him from Tutti Fruitti. He was on a lot of comedy shows from - mid 80s from my memory.

nokitchen · 14/10/2022 20:17

Noooooooo

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2022 20:26

I'm genuinely upset about this news. I remember him first from Tutti Frutti, then the outstanding Cracker, and of course Hagrid. Loved Robbie. RIP.

So sad and quite shocking for some reason. Tutti Frutti was when I first became aware of him. A real loss. Loved Cracker and his role in Harry Potter.

I'd love to watch Tutti Frutti again but don't know if it would seem dated now, or if it's even possible to watch it. Lots of other good actors in it too.

It's almost impossible to get hold of Tutti Frutti. My dad loved it and I tried to get a dvd for him years later but there weren't any for sale. I think I saw a comment about the copyright for the music being prohibitive (but I may have misremembered that).

RIP Robbie - hell always be Fitz in Cracker for me.

Jellykat · 14/10/2022 20:31

Very sad indeed, i too loved him in Cracker.

FrippEnos · 14/10/2022 20:34

Robbie talking about his time on HP. Made me blub like a baby whilst watching the reunion. His words are even more poignant now.
