I'm binging on ER... favourite episodes?

When Carter and Lucy get stabbed. Especially when Benton comes storming down the stairs. So arrogant but deep down cares so fiercely.

When Mark gets attacked in the toilets. Brutal.

Sally Field as Abby's bipolar mother. She played the role phenomenally.

The chemical spill when everyone randomly starts passing out and Carter takes charge. The first time Benton really started taking him seriously.

Love's Labour Lost. Heartbreaking and Mark was amazing.

...but the very best masterpiece of all - when Doug Ross saves Ben from the storm drain. Seriously gripping stuff.

I'm on Season 7 so I'm looking forward to Susan reappearing and meeting Pratt, who I know nothing about. I am NOT looking forward to a certain character's death 💔👓

Storm drain for sure. And any episode in which Romano featured heavily; his relationship with Lucy was particularly well done. Paul McCrane is such a good actor.

Sadly, I found the Carol/Doug bollocks virtually unwatchable. I always thought Julianna Marguiles was charmless in that role. Utterly unengaging.

passport123 · 16/10/2022 22:05

Yes I was frustrated that a seemingly intelligent woman like Carol fell for an arrogant tosser like Doug.

Agreed! He walked all over her and treated her like absolute shit, to the point she took an overdose. Cheated and let her down constantly then fucked off when she was pregnant. All of a sudden she runs off to find him in Seattle and they stroll off into the sunset? She's not even slightly miffed that she's been raising their children alone? I doubt this would have been a happy ending in reality - in reality she'd have walked into his new house and found him shagging some bird!

The one with Ewan McGregor and the robbery

Found this quite useful just now when deciding which classic to watch next

@Frazzled2207 - you get a 14 day free trial for ad free, then £3.99 pcm, cancel any time.

Makes such a difference. I've been rewatching The Good Wife and it's great not to have the constant ad breaks.

Ooh thanks!

Bobbybobbins · 16/10/2022 23:08

Ooh so many great episodes!

Top for me is the storm drain. Rewatched a few years ago and couldn't sit down even though I knew what was going to happen!

Carter and Lucy's stabbing, Pratt's death was horrific. Loved Mark but thought Corday and Benton were better suited!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 16/10/2022 23:21

Happy sigh reading this thread… bloody love ER have watched it over at least 4 times and it’s still brilliant.

agree with you all but the scenes that are really vivid to me are carter seeing Lucy under the gurney, Benton / Carter starting rehab and Kovac paralysed but seeing Abby collapsing in blood while heavily pregnant. Oh god I could go on and on - guess I know what I’ll be doing for the next wee while!

Ginger1982 · 16/10/2022 23:22

Gant and the train.

Carter and Lucy stabbing.

Mark in Hawaii.

Doug in the storm drain.

The rapist who gets brought in and Corday basically threatens not to operate until he tells her where he left his victim.

Mark not shocking the guy in the lift.

Corday versus Jim Robinson from Neighbours after she paralyses him.

Sooo many!

Reallyreallyborednow · 16/10/2022 23:54

Can anyone tell me if Greys Anatomy is similar and worth a watch?

no it isn’t. It’s nowhere near the quality of ER. Or accurate medically. It’s a big soap really. Many of the storylines are just ridiculous and they should have all lost their licenses in the first season. Plus many rehashed ER storylines (George = Gant)

if you want other medical dramas Code Black is a good one. The resident as mentioned upthread also good, as is The Good Doctor.

Does anyone know how to turn off the auto play on E4?

passport123 · 17/10/2022 10:38

oh yes - Abby collapsing in the corridor leaving a bloody handprint on the door whilst Kovac is tied to the gurney and can see but do nothing.

passport123 · 17/10/2022 10:38

I can see that I've found my tribe on this thread!

That scene is imprinted in my mind, just heart wrenching to watch

I just want to go home and watch it now 😂

Does anyone know what this one is called? Or at least which season it’s from-
not sure I’ve seen it

@passport123
thank you !

Covidwoes · 17/10/2022 14:05

Sorry I haven't had time to RTFT, but what day and time is this on? I've had a look on More4, but can't find it! TIA from an avid ER fan!

Meant to add, one of my favourite episodes is Exodus, Season 4, when the ER is evacuated due to a benzene spill.

Reallyreallyborednow · 17/10/2022 14:10

The one where the mum has a psychotic break and believes she’s under attack, forcing her kids to jump out of the window.

horrific. You can feel her terror
and her reality at the start, then the realisation dawns..

oh yes, that's a great episode
there are just so many

Kem's stillbirth, as she frantically asks Dr Coburn to look again for a heartbeat

And Gant. The moment they bleep him and realise that it's him on the trauma table.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 17/10/2022 15:29

Some others that I though particularly good - I have the full box set and regularly rewatch Grin

When Gallant is killed in action.

When Abby gets drunk and sleeps with Stanley Tucci's character, Dr Moretti.

When Susan's niece leaves a message on her answerphone and Susan goes to NYC in search of them.

caroleanboneparte · 17/10/2022 19:29

So many of these are the sad bits but there are lovely / funny bits too.

Romano doing sign language to Reece.

"You set the tone, Carter" then later Carter says it to Morris but with much less confidence.

Kayson buying Lewis flowers after she saved his life.

Playing hockey in the corridor.

When they stole a machine from another floor.

When Rachel came back as a medical student.

When Romano stops Cleo and Benton from giving meds until one can learn to read and the other write.

Neela working in a supermarket.

The patient of Carol's who has a colour coded lever arch file of his medical records.

The breakfast club episode.

Carter getting is beard cut off when he got stuck to a patient.

When the football and the foot get mixed up and they open the wrong bag in theatre.

When Benton gets an appy, Carter does it and they take Polaroids.

When Benton and Elizabeth go on a Haloween date.

It’s not “on” as such you have to stream via the all 4 app. But all episodes are there.

I've started watching it tonight because of this thread. Forgot how good episode 1 was in getting us into the characters so quickly! It seems to have aged well also - only thing I can see that's different is the lack of mobile phones (and potentially tablets rather than paper charts!)

Excited to watch the rest of it as I've only ever watched it through once when it was on TV originally!
