I'm binging on ER... favourite episodes?

When Carter and Lucy get stabbed. Especially when Benton comes storming down the stairs. So arrogant but deep down cares so fiercely.

When Mark gets attacked in the toilets. Brutal.

Sally Field as Abby's bipolar mother. She played the role phenomenally.

The chemical spill when everyone randomly starts passing out and Carter takes charge. The first time Benton really started taking him seriously.

Love's Labour Lost. Heartbreaking and Mark was amazing.

...but the very best masterpiece of all - when Doug Ross saves Ben from the storm drain. Seriously gripping stuff.

I'm on Season 7 so I'm looking forward to Susan reappearing and meeting Pratt, who I know nothing about. I am NOT looking forward to a certain character's death 💔👓

More4. There's all the annoying adverts but it's worth it!

The one with Mark Green in Hawaii. I don’t want to give any spoilers but that one was very emotional.

Pirrin · 13/10/2022 22:50

Mark's big storyline. All of his episodes really, and his wedding. I loved Lucy too. Romano's arm!

PrincessesRUs · 13/10/2022 22:52

The smallpox outbreak! Carter at his absolute best!!

stargirl1701 · 13/10/2022 22:52

It's gotta be Carter & Lucy getting stabbed. Even Romano was emotional!

AC2022 · 13/10/2022 22:55

I love ER. I watched it all about ten years ago, I think I might start again. Loads of best bits -

When they’re paging Gant after someone throws themselves in front of a train and then they realise that it’s him on the table.

When Benton takes Carter to rehab. Carter is so angry and lashing out but Benton goes with him.

There’s one scene on the latter series where one of the medical staff explains that their child died in the ER and give such a raw explanation of what happened to them afterwards.

Oh, and space camp, where the kid explains why he’s playing up. I’m weepy just thinking about it.

WhyDoesItAlways · 13/10/2022 22:55

"you set the tone". But also the Hawaii episodes and Romano's arm. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

StrawberryPot · 13/10/2022 22:56

When Carter and Lucy get stabbed has to take the top slot.

Another scene that really stuck with me is when Neela goes to see Ray after the accident and he turns his wheelchair round to reveal he's had his legs amputated.

Also when Doug is trying to work out what the mark on a toddler's back is and suddenly realises it's a boot imprint.

And not forgetting when the helicopter rotor slices off Romano's arm (though Romano being killed by a falling helicopter is probably the most ridiculous ER scene ever).

Frazzled2207 · 13/10/2022 22:57

the one with Carter and Lucy getting stabbed without a doubt.

groundbreaking tv. Nothing else has ever come close IMO.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 13/10/2022 22:58

When Carol drops everything ( including her twins) and races off to be re united with Clooney by the lake. Not so much for her, but for the speech that the bereaved husband (her patient) makes about his wife, and the effect it has On Her ( and on me, obviously).

i have often thought about it in times of crisis.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 13/10/2022 22:58

I’m absolutely obsessed with ER and have watched it all over 50 times. I won’t bore you all too death but here are a few of my absolute faves..

Season 2 - To hell and high water - when Doug saves the kid from the storm drain. Just proves how much Doug cares for his patients

season 15 - when Pratt dies, we just were not expecting it.

season 8 - obviously Mark dying is defo up there as one of the best , an amazing character whom we loved from day one.

season 14 - when we see what happened to Ray. That broke my heart, I loved Ray from day one and to see Neela have to see him like that was horrible aswell

season 6 - when Carol finally realises she wants to be with Doug. One of my fave ever Tv couples, did feel bad for Luka though. Julianna was super lucky she got to kiss to gorgeous guys.

season 12 - when sams ex escapes prison custody and kidnaps Sam. Abby at the end and Luka not being able help, just about killed me.

so many more I could mention... I restarted watching in April and then stopped before summer so will be restarting where I left off in season 4.

Firefly86 · 13/10/2022 23:00

Omg. Best program ever. Bar none. Loved it. Have watched it right through 3 times. The Mark episode mentioned earlier. I don't think I ever really cried at TV before and it must be 20 years later now and i don't think anything has come close. Gets me in the feels even thinking about it now.

Latenightreader · 13/10/2022 23:15

The one where a patient starts crashing and people are panicking. Bob the receptionist suddenly grabs some equipment and cross clamps an aorta (or something equally unexpected).

An early one where another floor has stolen the ER’s new crash carts. Carol, Doug, Lydia and at least one other go and steal them back. It’s a joy.

Frank the bigoted receptionist has a heart attack. His wife and daughter arrive and his daughter (who has Down’s syndrome) talks about her father being a hero, and his wife is really pleased to meet some of the staff because Frank has told her all about them. ER did a wonderful job of slowly softening an initially unpleasant person without changing their character completely.

Romano telling Benton’s son to be good in sign language.

SNWannabe · 13/10/2022 23:16

I remember that shock seeing the aftermath of the stabbing… the fact we couldn’t fast forward adverts
and had to wait a week til the next episodes… I remember phoning
my sister in the ad breaks like “omg!”

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 13/10/2022 23:17

Storm drain. No contest.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 13/10/2022 23:18

Also Romano being bashed by the helicopter.

YellowRedBlueGreen · 13/10/2022 23:18

I LOVED Romano. He was a right bastard but every so often you'd see a glimmer of softness and he had some hilarious one liners. When Benton said kiss my ass you arrogant prick "that's it Peter, you keep working on your people skills" or when Benton insisted on being called Peter "You don't like Pete?... Petey??" 🤣

He was so in love with Elizabeth Corday as well.

I think I need to start watching it again...🥰

StrawberryPot · 13/10/2022 23:30

Remember when Benton walked away carrying Reece who was looking back over his shoulder at Romano, and Romano signed to him, 'take care of your father'? Wonderful!

FannyFifer · 13/10/2022 23:32

Is there anywhere I can watch from the start? Wish it wld come on Netflix or Amazon.

Pirrin · 13/10/2022 23:37

Not an episode but Carter's Jeep with the zip up plastic windows always made me smile for some reason Smile

catfunk · 13/10/2022 23:40

This 100%. It really knocked the wind out of me, I still remember it well.
