I know there may be more specific sites to put this thread but I can't bring myself to go there
DH is in hospital with Leukaemia- and for the past few weeks has had a chest infection
Now he has 2 chest infections
I have been visiting x2 a day but not since Thursday as I got Covid (for the first time)
The Macmillan nurse has just rung asking me to do a test as the Dr wants to have an conversation' and it might be easier if I am there
Of course I am still testing positive
I tried to get details out of her but all she would say is that it is a serious conversation
Dr is due to ring me soon
I feel sick with nerves and so guilty that I am not there
He is 49
I really need a hand hold

@MumofSpud

I am so sorry for your loss. Death is shit. That's all anyone can say at this time.

When I read your message about the lung infection and the later message about what the MacMillan nurse said, I feared the worse for you because it was almost word for word what happened to my mother recently. Although like your husband, it seemed like there would be weeks or months in relation to the underlying condition, a lung infection proved fatal. It's a horrible combination of an underlying knowledge that your loved once is seriously ill but the hope you will have bit more time together with the horrific shock of a death which in fact was sudden even though it doesn' appear like it to others.

What I would say is that I would really really recommend this book
Coping with Grief by Mal & Diane McKissock

and get it as soon as you can because it deals with immediate shock. It's easily digestible even when in an intense grief state and I found it such a comfort to me in the week after my mother's death.

I'm still in deep grief and cry at the drop of a hat so you have all my love and empathy. I am glad you managed to be with your husband and wish you all support and love as you get through a day at a time.

Op, what a tragic post to read, I’m so sorry- your husband being so young. I hope you find some comfort that he went peacefully with you by his side. It’s almost as if he was so brave and did it on his own terms. Thinking of you all. Xxxx
