Threads deleted by MNHQ for being trolls

Just wondered how MNHQ figure out someone is a troll?

I always get on the threads too late, but does anyone have any good troll thread stories for me?

Bloody hell! They don’t like signposting to Reddit do they?

Wibbli · 03/10/2022 16:01

Haha! I’m intrigued also! They are quick on the ban button aren’t they!

Wowzers12 · 03/10/2022 16:01

Oh is that what you did? Is there a Reddit thread about this?

There was a thread recently about a woman who was pregnant and her partner wanted them to name the baby after her partner's dead daughter.

Everyone was commenting how strange of a request that was and that she shouldn't follow through with it.

We then saw a message from HQ saying that the OP is a troll and has been previously banned for posting troll threads.

I don't know what trolls find in making up stories on here.

Wowzers12 · 03/10/2022 16:08

@ocadodeliveroo that's so weird! Cannot fathom what someone gets out of that. Maybe it's the same as compulsive lying.

What puzzles me about the trolling on here is when people say ‘is it half-term?’ or something similar. Like it’s bored teenagers making up elaborate bullshit threads, as if they haven’t got anything more interesting to do.

DismantledKing · 03/10/2022 16:10

Beat time to troll spot is late evening, as the paid mods go off duty and the Night Watch take over. I’ve noticed that they really start to pop up then.

Grandeur · 03/10/2022 16:12

I'm quite fond of the water troll tbh Grin Very persistent.

DismantledKing · 03/10/2022 16:17

I think one of the reasons that MN gets trolled so much is because people on here become far too overly invested in threads. ‘Oooh, can we have a diagram?’, or when they’re a deadline for something to happen (like a husband, sorry ‘DH’, or a neighbour coming home), and the OP then disappears for hours with loads of posters
placeholding because they’re so overexcited.

it’s no wonder the trolls love it here so much

We use a machine called the P.K.E. Meter to detect them. Once they're caught, we store them in a proton pack until it's safe to release them. Sometimes they get out and cause utter havoc at MNHQ.

DismantledKing · 03/10/2022 16:24

And of course the baby names threads are a law unto themselves…

I've enjoyed the last couple where the water troll starts a thread about where is the water troll, or why are there so many trolls.

Which raises the question @Wowzers12 - are you the water troll? 🤔

I love the M&S woman 🤣

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/10/2022 16:52

Hook too

DragonMovie · 03/10/2022 16:53

I don’t know water or M&S women! And was does hook too mean?

The M&S woman went for a job interview and didn't get it even though she knows everything about the brand because she shops there.

She often goes back to the store - despite apparently despising everything about it - to come back with a new gripe.

She says she didn't get the job because the manager (a married man) likes to employ, and skive off with, teenage boys so he only employs them.

Wednesdaywobbles · 03/10/2022 16:58

The thing that pisses me off though is that it takes away from the genuine questions. My main frustration is that unless you have a thread about a cheating partner, a CF or a made up parking thread you rarely get any replies.

I asked about recovery times for children who’ve had a tonsillectomy - I got all of zero replies

but a made up story gets literally hundreds and hundreds of replies

it really puts me off posting - I mean why bother 🤷‍♀️

Could have done with this at the school gates and the PTA years ago

DismantledKing · 03/10/2022 17:00

The water troll is just nuts. Obsessed with fluoride.

PanPacificBallroomChampion · 03/10/2022 17:03

I really liked the one where they complained about the cashier at the fancy farm shop touching her bread which escalated from a checkout lady to a case of but what if he stirred your soup with his penis. I was refreshing the page every time I’d read a new message. Then, poof, gone 😢

Hugocat1 · 03/10/2022 17:03

I got a thread blocked years ago. I got called a pervert and troll.

I was genuinely highlighting safeguarding concerns from various facebook groups.
