Threads deleted by MNHQ for being trolls

Wowzers12 · 03/10/2022 15:57

Just wondered how MNHQ figure out someone is a troll?

I always get on the threads too late, but does anyone have any good troll thread stories for me?

OP posts:

I really liked the one where they complained about the cashier at the fancy farm shop touching her bread which escalated from a checkout lady to a case of but what if he stirred your soup with his penis. I was refreshing the page every time I’d read a new message. Then, poof, gone 😢

I remember her. And it was like a £4.50 load

girlmom21 · 03/10/2022 17:05

Loaf

PanPacificBallroomChampion · 03/10/2022 17:06

😂😂😂 @girlmom21 I’d forgotten about that.

I'm quite fond of the water troll tbh Grin Very persistent.

I wish they'd leave her threads alone. She's absolutely batshit! It make me laugh - hard,

I wish that on a few of the threads. The MLM boss babe ones are always fun.

OrlaCarmichael · 03/10/2022 17:18

I’m quite new here and posted recently on a thread that got deleted. It was a perfectly believable situation. Maybe the title was slightly dramatic. Was surprised how stupid I felt when the deletion notice came up - poster had been previously banned more than once. I wasn’t overly invested, but had given quite a lot of thought to my replies.

But I really did feel stupid, as I had spotted quite a few troll posts in the past when lurking

We use a machine called the P.K.E. Meter to detect them. Once they're caught, we store them in a proton pack until it's safe to release them. Sometimes they get out and cause utter havoc at MNHQ.

😂😂😂 how nice

Noteverybodylives · 03/10/2022 17:30

What puzzles me about the trolling on here is when people say ‘is it half-term?’ or something similar. Like it’s bored teenagers making up elaborate bullshit threads, as if they haven’t got anything more interesting to do.

You’ll notice how many more troll posts there are during the school holidays than during term time.

Its a bit of a coincidence for the adult trolls to post so much during the school holidays.

Noteverybodylives · 03/10/2022 17:31

There is a thread I’m on now which I’m 95% sure is a troll simply because the story is so OTT but it’s not been deleted yet so I’m guessing they’re not.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 03/10/2022 17:35

@Noteverybodylives Maybe they’re all teachers!

The water troll is just nuts. Obsessed with fluoride.

You know after some of the posts on here over the weekend I think they might have a point 😂

TwoWrightFeet · 03/10/2022 17:43

This is an anonymous site where people can change name at whim. Everyone on here is a troll as far as I’m concerned .

Northernlurker · 03/10/2022 17:46

The boring answer is that they can't say how they know cos then the trolls would know how to avoid them

The more interesting answer is that they employ code breakers who look for patterns of bollocks!

Usually troll threads move fast (cos trolls get bored) and feature sexual drama and/or twins.

worraliberty · 03/10/2022 17:52

Some Mumsnetters couldn't spot a troll if it ran up to them wearing a "I am a troll" t-shirt, screaming I AM AN ACTUAL TROLL! and invited them back to their little hovel under a bridge for tea, poured from a troll shaped teapot and served them little troll shaped biscuits.

CheezePleeze · 03/10/2022 17:53

Not really. A lot of parents take time off work during the holidays.

But the time and energy it must take to keep starting up new accounts etc. Why don’t they do something constructive instead?

Noteverybodylives · 03/10/2022 17:58

😱😱😱 I think you’re right!
You’ve cracked it!!

AlsoknownasOther · 03/10/2022 18:00

I loved the one where the water troll's husband was up to something worse than an affair.

I'd like to see the troll ones kept but with a huge "TROLL" banner in the OP.

No, they'd ask it for an update every 5 minutes while cheering and waving their pompoms.

daisychain01 · 03/10/2022 18:05

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet please can you resolve the one about the OP who said they felt "unsafe" with their DH and wanted to boot them out?

the deletion message said they were sock puppeting, but it didn't say whether their actual story was genuine. So were they deleted because of the sock puppetry, or because they made the whole thing up.

there were people up all night supporting that OP, so the deletion message wasn't that helpful.

And squealing for 'Classics' 😁

MNHQ don't have magic powers.

How can they possibly say whether it was genuine unless they hang out with the person in real life?

They would just tell the OP how awesome she is and nominate it for Classics.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 03/10/2022 18:12

Another fan of the water troll here!

I always spot them when I’m about to turn the light off and end up laughing, frantically refreshing until it gets deleted.

I also enjoyed the evening there was seventy threads calling us all cunts.

Admittedly, it’s the responses that actually make me laugh. Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 03/10/2022 18:20

On Fess Hole on Twitter someone said he (of course it is) liked to post a troll thread everyday on here just to see if it gets spotted. Sadly he’s realised the best way to get through is to be boring. Where the fun there?
