Human remains, believed to be part of a child’s skull have been found on Saddleworth Moor. Please god let this be Keith Bennett. That poor child can hopefully finally be laid to rest in eternal peace with his mother.

This fella has more front than bloody Blackpool! Accusing Keith's family of trying to 'ruin' his reputation (you did that perfectly well on your own mate! We all saw the tweet!) and that he'll release the photo at some point. He has zero respect for that family. None. It's all about 'defeating' Brady.

On the plus side he says he's not going back to the moors. Though I'll believe that when I see it. That type of glory hunter won't be able to let it go.

@milkyaqua

So much reprimanding of the author as if he is responsible for a full skeleton immediately appearing.

I can only assume that you missed his self congratulatory and inappropriate tweet praising himself for finding Keith (which isn't even the case) with smiley emojis...

It was disgraceful.

No, I didn't miss that. It was in poor taste, and ill thought out. But my post - and that includes the line you posted - was about people carrying on about a "hoax" because they seem to think a forensic dig produces instant results.

WeAreTheHeroes · 05/10/2022 04:58

He's the author of his own downfall given the tweet with the smiley face emojis. What a cheek to have a go at Alan Bennett. And now he's apparently taking his toys home. He sounds to me like someone who was convinced he had found something, but was wrong.

He claimed to have found Keith Bennett’s remains. Unbelievably, he cannot tell the police exactly where they are (they have not been found or seen by anyone else).
Why is that?
Would you really forget something like that?

OneFrenchEgg · 05/10/2022 08:37

"Mr Edwards said he would release the photograph of the jaw at some point, but would not return to the Moors to search for Keith's remains, saying: "I'm done... I'm looking at a further project now."

Bloody hell. What an absolute cock.

I mean, if that's accurately reported it's breathtaking. Just causing a massive fuss and then walking away.

diddl · 05/10/2022 11:00

If he has evidence of something can't the police make him show them?

Unless he has shown the police & not the media.

Surely the police must have something more to go on than "I saw something approx over there"?

BenCoopersSupportWren · 05/10/2022 11:39

Actually having read what Russell Edwards has said, it was the person he showed his photo to who spotted what looked like a human jaw on the photo when he hadn't noticed it in real life though he did think he had found signs of a buried body.

So much for his “ability to see what other people can’t” 🙄

So do I understand correctly? He claims to have previously found what he believes to be Keith’s remains, digging far enough down to release an ammonia smell, finding fabric, removing some soil which an expert acquaintance of his analysed as indicative of human remains and taking photos, one of which another acquaintance suggested showed a child’s jawbone…and then he apparently filled it all in again and only at that point (or later?) told police, turning it into some guessing game for them as to whether they are excavating the correct spot? Or have I misunderstood the filling in bit, or the timescale?

BorisByCandlelight · 05/10/2022 16:36

I felt bad for this guy at first but gosh why won't he keep his mouth shut now. He's not the victim in this story.

I think he filled it in before the analysis was complete and the photos were reviewed (as those take time, and presume he didn't leave the dug area open while he was off doing that)

But. Someone who is an ex grave digger, actively looking for a body, finds fabric and a 'smell of death' and doesn't phone the police at that point? Seems unlikely unless they want to do a big 'Ta Da!' reveal Hmm

Or they noticed fuck all and the expert analysis needed a bit of back story to make him look good.

Or the whole thing is a load of bollocks from start to finish.

As for attacking Keith's brother for not being grateful to him for creating a shit storm - words fail me.

EmmaH2022 · 06/10/2022 09:38

I was puzzled at the weekend because I couldn't see any evidence that remains had been found

it didn't sound as if the police actually had anything

why would they investigate without someone even giving any physical evidence? Did he literally just say he'd seen something? I'm confused.

CourtneeLuv · 06/10/2022 09:40

I saw a headline on Facebook zapping no remains have been found. I didn't click on it though.

Is this bloke going to be charged then? There must be something they can charge him with, surely?

CourtneeLuv · 06/10/2022 09:40

BorisByCandlelight · 06/10/2022 12:12

The last update from the police was that they will keep searching around that area for the foreseeable future.

Edwards is spouting off again.

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0d52z7z

Worried that the forensics team of the greater Manchester police force might not be doing it 'properly'. 🙄

He's convinced he's found Keith by the sounds of it, said something about shadow bodies and how Keith is in the 'ground'. Says his photo of the 'jaw bone' shows the two front teeth. Won't be going back up to the moors again and continues to act like Alan Bennet should be grateful to him.

OneFrenchEgg · 07/10/2022 14:11

Well what a terrible outcome from the initial hope that Keith was to be returned to his family. I'm not surprised Alan Bennett has no time for these searches.

Awful news, I was really hoping this would mean closure for the family.

I hope that horrible little man is punished.

This has just popped up on my feed as well.

Can't rule out that the 'jaw' in the photo may be plant matter apparently.

Grandeur · 07/10/2022 14:53

How can plant matter resemble a human skull? Enough for it to be sent off for testing by the police?

Wherewassteve · 07/10/2022 15:05

How awful for the family. All of this being dredged through the media. I really hoped that he had found Keith.

There was no skull. There was an image that one of his experts thought was a child's jawbone but no physical evidence has been found. The police have said they now think that whatever it was in the image is too small and they can't rule out that it's plant matter.

Wherewassteve · 07/10/2022 15:10

What does he mean, 'shadow people'?

I think it's about time he gracelessly retired from this whole hideous fiasco.

He has cause Alan Bennett and his family no end of grief; he is unfairly criticising the forensics team (and this is the man who apparently re-buried the "body parts' and couldn't even be bothered to direct the police operation to the exact spot where he supposedly discovered them); he has boasted and self-aggrandised at the expense of a family's private grief and exploited the dreadful death of a child for his own ends.

I don't know why anyone entertains his arrogance. If I was a publisher I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Has he no compassion for the family at all?

How disgusting that they initially reported it as a skull found. I hope Russell Edwards is punished for this.
