How often do you wash school tights?

Do you wash after one wear? I'm talking about school tights for girls under 6.

After every wear.

Yes, I treat them the same as socks so washed daily. Dd has a new uniform daily tbh as I don't want her to be smelly/grubby.

Every wear. If not dirty, they'll be baggy from wearing.

I def remember them not being washed after every wash when I was a child. My mum sat down and explained when I went from wool tights to the thin ones that I wear now than I now needed to wash them every time.

Dd2 seemingly never even though she most certainly wears a clean pair to school every day 🙄 I'm sick of buying navy bloody tights!

Underwear? I always wear underwear underneath tights!!!

Daughter wears fresh uniform including clean tights daily (the feet get smelly and God knows where the tights touch in the loos at this young age!). I wash all the uniform stuff on a Friday after school. The only thing she doesn't get fresh daily is the cardigan as it's often off anyway during the day, unless of course it's grubby then she'll wear a clean one in the morning. But yes, clean tights daily.

After every wear, pretty grim not to. I’d skip washing a cardigan if it looks alright though!

Well in theory everyday, when things go a bit wrong and I run out of clean washing tights occasionally last a second day. It's a bit like asking how often people on mumsnet change their bedding. You will come across the world's cleanest people on here!

The average Mumsnetter washes everything in a vat of bleach six times, this is a social competition arena after all.

The average non Mumsnetter can't be arsed and probably does the sniff test. Some kids have sweaty feet and some have super dry feet so your mileage may vary but mine would usually get about 2 or 3 wears out of them.

Definitely after every wash - their feet get surprisingly sweaty and they sometimes take their shoes off, I’ve discovered; so the feet are often really grubby underneath!

I found the school tights that washed the best were far and away the John Lewis wool mix ones with the shaped feet. Expensive outlay at the start, but washed and wore incredibly well compared to other brands. Supermarket ones were cheap but shrank dramatically after just one wash and were a false economy. Some of the JL tights did two whole academic years and I could still pass them on with a bit of wear left in them.

I'm kind of shocked to read this post. Do you wear same socks twice? If not, you don't wear same tights twice.

How are tights, underwear?

Every wear here too, same for poloshirts. They can rewear cardies/ skirts if unstained though. I'm envious of parents who manage to get multiple wears out a uniform. Sometimes we have to change poloshirts after breakfast.

Every wear with tights. Same as knickers and shirt. She wears her skirt and cardigan as long as she can get away with them though!
