Sorry Mcvey !
I'm
Glad that a few are being critical , but not sure what good it might do.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 10:03

Yes, a man from Guido Fawkes was on radio 5 earlier on this morning and he mentioned the polls too !

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 10:17

DWP Secretary Chloe Smith declines to be drawn on whether benefits will rise with inflation. "On a pure process point, I’m not able to set out today what the ingredients of the position are."

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 10:46

Truss has found Johnson's dressing up box.
She refuses to say whether or not she trusts Kwarteng

mibbelucieachwell · 04/10/2022 10:47

They'll have to raise benefits in line with inflation. They're voted through in HoC? I can't see them getting a majority vote for a real terms reduction of benefits alongside corporation tax cuts and bankers bonus' caps being scrapped. But like the help with gas and electricity bills they'll make everyone sick with worry in the lead up to their magnanimous rescue of people on benefits.

Flowers for everyone having to struggle to get urgently required medical help for loved ones.

A colleague has just said that there has been something put onto the bank of england Web page about a policy that has gone live this week meaning that they can take money from your accounts without permission to help the banks stay afloat, they may give you bank shares in exchange. I can't look as working, but can anyone shed any light on this?

Taking our money away
The daily Mail ' great reset' is going to plan then ? It's a conspiracy theory I can get on board with

tobee · 04/10/2022 11:28

I was just looking at who is speaking at the conference today. Kit Malthouse - education secretary, James Cleverly - foreign secretary, Therese Coffey - health secretary to name but a few. These people are the very definition of "dregs" aren't they?

But also I see Patel is speaking at a fringe event and going to criticise the government and its economic policies. So we've got a vacuum of leadership that's opened up and so any old person can have a go! Patel - like a zombie rising again. Urgh!

L1ttledrummergirl · 04/10/2022 11:33

I haven't been able to confirm it, or not yet. I'll look later, but if anyone has the chance to look in the meantime as it's useful to know.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 11:39

No doubt they will do this
Agree that it is the bottom of the barrel
If the Labour Party tried half these things they would be out by next week. Or having a bad time of it by the daily Mail at least

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 11:41

Kit malthouse admitted he is a failed businessman. His air plane business failed to get off the ground ! Apparently

This, to me, being out of touch that Liz Truss headlines as people's frustrations:-

Truss goes on to talk about the "frustrations" people have that it "takes too long to get things done in this country".
She notes the "years and years to wait for a road project to be built, difficulty setting up your own business, frustrations about how slow some of the British bureaucracy can be and we are going to have to sort that out."
But Truss also emphasises they are a "listening government" that reflects on "where we could have done things better".

Most people are trying to have their nhs operations not cancelled, get a doctors appointment, not worrying about fuel bills and food bills. Not so many are worrying about road projects and setting up businesses. These are not the urgent, life or death "frustrations "

tobee · 04/10/2022 11:55

The above is about what Liz Truss and her cult members have been dreaming about over years. They are not fit for purpose concerns at this time

That was from Liz Truss talking to Nick Robinson today

mibbelucieachwell · 04/10/2022 12:18

Ooh I missed her on the R4 news this morning!

To be fair, I'm sure inefficient bureaucracy and lack of infrastructure do hold people back, but the bureaucracy is usually there for a good reason. It's just a smokescreen for her admiration of ruthless go getters and her lack of understanding of how difficult it is for people who aren't as lucky as she is to have had good health, supportive parents, a good education etc.

If she had also said that the process of claiming benefits should also be simplified and made more efficient I'd be less suspicious of her underlying motives.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 12:26

I hope the front and back stabbers start getting together and cause a stir. It's not their mandate for many of these things
Every time I hear her speak I lose the will to live

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 10:46

Truss has found Johnson's dressing up box.
She refuses to say whether or not she trusts Kwarteng

Hasn’t she just, just caught her sky interview and she says absolutely nothing of any value.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 13:28

Beth rigby for sky news was tough on her just now.

ClaudineClare · 04/10/2022 13:32

Another day and a few more of the clumsy stitches holding this ragbag of a government together burst open. How long before the Tories fall apart completely?

Add Braverman to that list.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 13:34

I don't think enough back benchers are up for a coup. They might snitch and moan on the fringes , but mostly it's just hot air so far.

Cornettoninja · 04/10/2022 13:37

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 13:28

LT doesn’t help herself, she can’t hold an actual conversation. I thought BR was utterly exasperated.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 13:39

Boris Johnson was all about the vaccine roll out
With LT it is the energy bills. Every single time
She may have a mortgage , but she can afford her one. That's the difference

Notonthestairs · 04/10/2022 13:47

The obsession with migrants continues. Braverman dreams about them.

"Suella Braverman says it would be “my dream” to see a flight deporting migrants to Rwanda by Christmas.

But she warns it will take much longer because of the lengthy process of legal challenges.
