She's beaten Boris!

Liz Truss' approval rating as PM is now lower than Boris Johnson's lowest ever approval rating (-31%).

Liz Truss Approval Rating (2 October):

Disapprove: 51% (+9)
Approve: 18% (-10)
Net: -33% (-19)

Changes +/- 28-29 September

When is our PM speaking ? Is it in Wednesday?

DowningStreetParty · 03/10/2022 18:40

I cannot abide Nadine Dorries’ politics for lots of reasons but I am bloody delighted that she’s said what the rest of the country has been thinking for months. OF COURSE we need an election for the country to decide if they want the Truss and Kwarteng experimental politics or if they would rather go for something more.. evidence based.

The Tories must be so furious with Boris johnson that his vanity in wanting to hang in longer than May did as PM (and the party’s indulgence of him) meant they didn’t have a GE back when Johnson was pushed out back in the summer. They might have won it then.

<shrug>

Chris Philp having a BAD day. @Jo_Coburn is right: you can't tour studios saying the 45p tax rate is key to growth, then dump it, and claim it wasn't important at all. Because this means you spooked markets and added billions to gov't borrowing and mortgages for NOTHING. ~AA

She’s not my PM.

tobee · 03/10/2022 19:11

Thanks for looking into it @Notonthestairs

Looking at the approval ratings I can't believe Truss's are as high as they are. 18%!!! Who are these people?

We were ok during the pandemic because of what the conservatives did previously
.. what planet does Mr K live on?
Even Boris Johnson admitted the NHS couldn't cope with a pandemic in March 2020!
Short memory syndrome

Johnson kept saying this afterwards though.

The reason we could come out of lockdown as we did was because of what they'd done to the economy beforehand.

No one believed him and his lies about being in best position.

Why kwarteng thinks well believe him instead?!

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/10/2022 16:32

To many rules on employers, changing employment rules so no longer in line with EU.

So a country of low paid people expected to live their lives for work whilst housed in slums.

Stop strikes so there is no way to complain.

And we saw that coming weeks ago. Sad

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/10/2022 16:37

To sum up: he's an arrogant knob who can't get through a speech without lying but wants to fuck the country over to feed his ambition.

Sadly accurate

NEW: Earlier today at Derriford Hospital A&E in Plymouth, the longest wait for a bed in the hospital was over 72 hours. It dropped to 67 hours later in the morning but at one stage there were 23 patients in the A&E who had been waiting over 40 hours for a bed:

So obviously what we need is more austerity, less doctors and nurses, less hospital funding.

Notonthestairs · 03/10/2022 20:02

We definitely don't need 40 new hospitals.

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/10/2022 20:09

Puts my siblings 41 hours into perspective I think. This seems to be becoming normal. It was a different hospital to the one in the article.

OP posts:
tobee · 03/10/2022 20:50

Actually it's fewer doctors and nurses; before the pedants get me 😉

Wanted to add sorry about your sibling's recent hospital situation @L1ttledrummergirl. A personal story in amongst many it saddens me to say.

Fladdermus · 03/10/2022 21:20

72 hours? Good job we're not heading into winter with the extra pressures that brings then ...

itsgettingweird · 03/10/2022 21:28

It's taken me 5 hours tonight of going back and forth to GP and 111 as advised by both to get antibiotics for ds who has had an ear infection for 11 days! He has yellow gunk coming out of it and a swollen red ear.

We treated OTC first as advised and tried the gp Friday and Monday for phone call back.

Eventually got oral AB at 8.45pm this evening.

We do not need more cuts if something so simple to treat takes so long!

Downnotdown · 03/10/2022 21:52

So the Bruges group are threatening the BBC for something they 'may' do at some point in the future?

I certainly think the BBC are impartial, but the other way round, they constantly give Labour a harder time than they do the Tories.

Personally I much prefer to watch Channel 4 News.

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 08:33

Another U-turn, Kwarteng will bring forward his fiscal statement and OBR forecast from Nov 23 to early Nov.

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 08:35

Government also had to delete their false claims re moetgages

Check out the attachment. The Treasury is having to REMOVE its ludicrous claims about the savings fictional buyers could make, buying fictional properties, with fictional mortgages they would never get near. Several tweets have gone missing

It's almost like they don't live in the real world.

Very interesting to read the dividing lines opening up. Mordaunt was quite clear she supports benefits should rise with inflation. She's far from a lone voice. Gove, McVey, Halfon & Green has voiced similar views.

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 09:18

Yes, benefits will be the next battleground.

Shame they all voted against keeping the £20 uplift and extending free school meals.

Great initiative from Sir Michael Take, it might help some of the strugglers on the u-turn thread Grin

Gav a banking friend of mine is worried sick about a #UTurn on bankers’ bonuses.
His kids have been bullied at prep school & his wife is being laughed at,at the golf club.
So today, just go up & give a banker or hedge fund manager a hug🫂
They are suffering.
Please Pray for them🙏

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2022 09:53

Esther mc vie ( wrong spelling I think ? ) has asked for them to review the benefits bill too! It comes to something when the ones you thought of as not that moderate actually can be.

DuncinToffee · 04/10/2022 09:58

It's McVey Smile

What a difference polls can make......
