The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

Probably the last time anyone sings god save the Queen.

Well, yes! I didn’t think of that.

Blimey, this organ music sounds dreadful. Like Les Dawson is playing it.

Also made me think of The Count on Sesame Street!

Probably the last time anyone sings god save the Queen.

It was god save the king wasn't it? Charles wasn't singing.

Bunnycat101 · 19/09/2022 12:10

George and Charlotte have done very well- mine couldn’t have sat through it. My 3yo seems to be obsessed with who will take off the standard and whether the queen can hear from the box. I don’t think she really gets death at all. I thought my 6yo would be interested but she said it was too sad and didn’t want to watch which is fine so she’s playing in the garden.

CakeCrumbs44 · 19/09/2022 12:10

Glad I'm not the only one hating this organ music. It's not the most melodic instruments at the best of times but this is particularly bad...

MinglingFlamingo · 19/09/2022 12:10

Beatrice, Eugenie & Zara aren't in this procession

But the moment the Queen was pronounced dead someone would have immediately addressed him as Your Majesty. It's a succession thing.

I bet Anne was the first to drop a curtsey and address him as Your Majesty, before the tears started to flow. I remember in The King's Speech, when Gorge V died his widow curtseyed to her son Edward VIII immediately.

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 12:10

There's so much team effort in this service but I'm assuming there's only one organist
. Superb job

Sunbird24 · 19/09/2022 12:10

I can’t sing if I’m trying to hold it together either, let’s not judge

topcat2014 · 19/09/2022 12:10

It was God Save the King this time..

Rainbunny · 19/09/2022 12:10

Have to agree, some organ music can sound amazing but this stuff is dreary and discordant.

bellac11 · 19/09/2022 12:10

Yes the organs dreadful

Still cant see where the close ups are of the RF wiping their eyes etc

Sheknowtheyrhinestones · 19/09/2022 12:11

Yes I knew the windsor service, does that mean there's no wake for the people invited to Westminster? Do they all just now go home?

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 19/09/2022 12:11

Guess it helps to clear everyone out!

sparklecement · 19/09/2022 12:11

This would be better off silent.

Disneyblueeyes · 19/09/2022 12:11

I think the organ music is supposed to sound a bit dreadful. Depressing, at least. It's a funeral after all.

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 12:11

How unmoored it all feels, with her gone.

HeidiWhole · 19/09/2022 12:11

Oh that long walk again 🙈

Skodacool · 19/09/2022 12:11

CakeCrumbs44 · 19/09/2022 12:03

I thought this too! I assumed they would sing the Queen version for the last time

The late Queen no longer reigns

Terven · 19/09/2022 12:11

The service was so impersonal and underwhelming. I don’t understand it at all. No memories from her life, I’m really confused how she was so remote from her own funeral.

Just said to my husband.. it's the endless suspensions in some organ music that I can't abide but it is definitely fitting.

LIZS · 19/09/2022 12:12

Bach apparently

GaffNest · 19/09/2022 12:12

End this bleedin dirge on the organ. This is no way to go out.

Had to turn the volume right down.

Finally it’s over.

DysonSpheres · 19/09/2022 12:12

Apparently the Queen requested that God Save The King be sang. What a sweet gesture to her son and to reinforce that life goes on.

miserablecat · 19/09/2022 12:12

Thank god the organ has finished....oops no, just a new tune
