The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

Dd just asked me what song this is

To be fair, we are Welsh.

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 12:02

We're George and Charlotte sitting next to each other earlier? Maybe not. Kate is between them now

No. George has been between his parents the whole time

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:02

The bagpipes , just so sad.

Seems weird crass singing King while the Queen's body is there.😓

I thought this too! I assumed they would sing the Queen version for the last time

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 12:03

Everyone having to look at the Order of Service for words of second verse

It wasn't a very personal service though, nothing about her as a person or her family. I'm not sure it would make me cry as a member of the family (although I'm not religious so maybe that's part of it). I would have thought there would be more emotion at the family service later today.

The private family service is in Windsor when she arrives there.

FlippertyGibberts · 19/09/2022 12:03

Love the sole piper.

The service at St Giles earlier this week was very personal. This is a state funeral remember

FuzzyPuffling · 19/09/2022 12:03

There's a third verse to the National Anthem, but it is never sung now. It involves "confound their knavish tricks" and I believe, refers to the Scots.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 19/09/2022 12:03

The piper is magnificent.

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 12:03

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/09/2022 12:01

How many verses of the national anthem are there?

There are four or five. But only first and last get sung very often. We had to learn them in Brownies

Sunbird24 · 19/09/2022 11:59

My next door neighbours didn’t, I could hear them shouting through the wall…

My neighbours have a chain saw going!

5 apparently but some no longer politically correct! Great trumpets, must have sounded fabulous inside. And the piper ....

fucketyfuckwit · 19/09/2022 12:03

Poor Charles must be exhausted!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/09/2022 12:03

A private service is later at Windsor

Oh sorry! I missed your last sentence.

Probably just me, but I'm not a fan of that wreath.

The bits of Scottish (presumably) spruce/pine whatever looks threadbare like they've got it off last year's Christmas tree with half the needles missing.

It's rosemary, for remembrance, not pine.

RedToothBrush · 19/09/2022 12:03

Uh oh second verse. Always catches everyone out.

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/09/2022 12:01

How many verses of the national anthem are there?

Dozens of different verses at different times, some are quite offensive, google general Wade!

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 12:04

Those beautiful symmetrical shots of the abbey through the arches, just gorgeous
