anyone queuing to see the coffin in London atm?

I am wondering how long the queue is and how the organisation is working out. Are there enough toilets? Is it true that the wristband allows you to leave and come back?

I joined the queue about 10 minutes ago just before the Globe. It's moving reasonably well. It's still quite chilly by the river!
Good to know about the zig zag section. I'll definitely have a wee before it hit that bit!

Good luck in the queue @RhubarbCrumbled : will be interested to know how it goes for you (are there a lot of kids now it’s light)

and remember- no liquids after Lambeth (bridge) 😀

Ifulikepinacoladas · 15/09/2022 07:56

Theresa May has just gone through!

Benefi · 15/09/2022 07:57

Theresa and Peter May passing through right now. Did they queue all that time??

Benefi · 15/09/2022 07:57

DP spotted Lord Lebedev (sp?) last night too.

weddingDecliner · 15/09/2022 08:01

Lots of knackered people at Vauxhall
They went through at 7 after an 8 hour queue

SpinCityBlues · 15/09/2022 08:03

There’s a separate ‘queue’ for MPs and Lords so they don’t really queue as such. I guess it’s a ‘VIP lane’.

I was just reading about it in the morning papers.

Politicians get in themselves with 4 free passes for family

That's better timing than I thought it would be. 8 hours queuing isn't too bad.

Indoctro · 15/09/2022 08:06

I'm not there or would I go as no way I could Q but I'm quite like watching the random people stream past on the live stream on TV.

It's strangely addictiveGrin

Keep turning it back on as if something else might be happening but nope still the same Confused but then I waste another 15 minutes watching it.

ThickCutSteakChips · 15/09/2022 08:08

A live feed of a queue, with a YouTube live feed of information, and a live Mumsnet thread accompanying it. Am living my best life right now! Grin

Indoctro · 15/09/2022 08:09

One thing though most people move past quite quickly but I keep spotting the odd one who stand there for what feels like ages and I feeling like arggg hurry up there is loads of people behind you waiting Wink move on .

Daisy62 · 15/09/2022 08:09

I went last night. Queue was at the Globe when I joined at 10.30pm. Got into the hall at 7am.

ThickCutSteakChips · 15/09/2022 08:10

I bet there is like competitive 'paying of respects', who can bow most reverently, who can salute most enthusiastically, who can look most 'moved' by it all........

I would actually love to go, but life commitments mean its a no for me.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 15/09/2022 08:11

I wonder if anyone will meet the love of their life in The Queue

Indoctro · 15/09/2022 08:12

Oh I have one more thing does anyone know how many people they think will actually go past between Edinburgh and London

Is it millions you think.??

mnenomic · 15/09/2022 08:15

it's a bit of a shame they've got the double line now inside - though no doubt better for the logistics - as the outer line has to look through other people now to see the Queen's coffin and if they want to do a little bow. Also seem to be rushing through a lot quicker. Not surprised if they've been queueing all night!

MeridianB · 15/09/2022 08:22

Colleague texted at 6am this morning that they were nearing the bridge after 8 hours of queuing.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/09/2022 08:24

yes i am not sure how i would feel being herded into the double line

csla · 15/09/2022 08:24

Has anyone seen many children going through? Would love to go but bit nervous how my nearly-3 year old would cope with it. Older two would be fine I think.

Peterpiperpickedapepper · 15/09/2022 08:26

@csla that would be madness surely? Can your nearly 3 year old stand for 8 hours straight? Control when they need the toilet reliably? Be quiet and respectful at the right times?

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 15/09/2022 08:27

Politicians are about to join according to Nick Robinson.

not for 8 but 4-5 would be ok. I was thinking one of us could leave the queue for some periods with her. I'll see how it goes over the course of the day.

Veeragall · 15/09/2022 08:30

My friend got in early this morning. She queued for around 8 hours.

Saw a toddler being carried through this morning. These people don't read MN obviously. 😀

Molecule · 15/09/2022 08:33

Just started to watch the live feed and saw my sister! She works for a VIP so was able to queue jump.
