It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

Andrew is a tosser of the highest order but he is at his mothers funeral. There is a time and place.

It was shocking, though, that the young man who shouted out was arrested. What happened to free speech in this country = had he been quietly removed, then fair enough.

Also two thugs took the opportunity to give him a thumping - they WEREN'T arrested, despite this being an assault, possible actually bodily harm, and a breach of the peace - that was disgraceful!

In other parts of the country women have been arrested for holding up placards "Not my King", "Abolish the monarchy". - ARRESTED - this is shameful!

This is totally wrong, and worrying facist.

As for calling out a ("whatever-Andrew-is") - would you have felt the same if someone had shouted it out at Jimmy Savile at his mother's funeral? When is the right or wrong time to state something like this?

*worryingly

I don’t like the bloke, he’s properly gross. But there’s a time and a place. While he’s walking with his recently mother’s coffin and his grieving children is not appropriate.

Andrew is an appalling individual, but it was disrespectful of the Queen and her grieving family to heckle him at this time.

He didnt swear though he just spoke the truth, "Andrew, you're a sick old man" he could have said so much worse. I think that copper was heavy handed, if he'd have hit his head being dragged backwards like that he could have killed him.

The policeman only picked him up off the floor after he’d been dropped there by the man who lifted him out of the crowd.

NewYorkLassie · 12/09/2022 20:23

Heckling is not worse than sex offending

You’re right. But it takes a special kind of dickhead to heckle someone next to their Mother’s coffin.

feellikeanalien · 12/09/2022 20:24

I just get the feeling that he really thinks he can make a comeback to public life. He seems totally arrogant and I imagine very few people in his life have ever really told him what they think of him.

I watched a documentary on Epstein and, not just the fact of Andrew having sex with a trafficked girl, the mere fact that he counted Epstein as one of his friends and continued to do so even after he was convicted should be enough to ensure he never represents the RF ever again. That also doesn't take into account his dodgy dealings as trade ambassador.

Revolting man. I think there may have to be a rethink of his role in the vigil and funeral because I have a feeling there will be more hecklers in London.

No-one is saying he shouldn't be at the funeral but he doesn't have to be in the centre of the procession to the abbey.

Charles will need to be very careful. If he gets this wrong then the goodwill which he has experienced so far will dissipate very quickly.

"not the time or place"

There should be no wrong "time or place" for women and girls, we should be free to live our lives without sexual predators grooming, abusing, or trafficking us.

He had every option to keep out of the limelight but is an arrogant shit and wanted to be part of the pomp.

Spot on!

The didn’t thump him. One of them dragged him out of the crowd and the other one was ready to help if need be.

Its is very clear to anyone watching this is a family in mourning. Most of us get to mourn in private, and most of us put aside family disagreements for funerals.

The RF also have a public role and this involves leading the public mourning. The King and his immediate family have hardly had time to breath in the last few days. Asking the King to exclude PA is probably not an emotionally charged discussion he could face - how many of us could?

My view is the King and POW are being pragmatic and see this period of mourning as the last public duties for PA.

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 12/09/2022 20:27

I'm not sure 'family dispute' quite does this situation justice as a description.

PoseyFlump · 12/09/2022 20:28

This needs to be a lesson to the Royal family that the public will never accept him back into the fold.

They could and should have handled this differently but I think they're in denial about Andrew. I suppose in the past if someone keeps a low profile things get forgotten. Not this time.

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 12/09/2022 20:29

No-one is saying he shouldn't be at the funeral but he doesn't have to be in the centre of the procession to the abbey.

Can you actually imagine what it would be like? All those world leaders desperately trying to avoid being photographed with him!

Sunflowerkeep · 12/09/2022 20:30

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 12/09/2022 17:25

I think even odious sex offenders should be allowed to grieve their parents in peace.

He’s vile. But heckling him is worse.

It really isn't worse then being part of a a ex trafficking ring. None of the elite or high power have been done for it. Shut up with your brainwashing. These are innocent young children that were groomed for the pleasure of these sickos. What a world we live in! Evil

OneFrenchEgg · 12/09/2022 20:30

Well if Charles was apparently behind the awkward 'Fab Four' reunion to se the flowers, I think we can hold him accountable for Epstein's mate looking at flowers and walking behind the coffin.
So, I don't believe for one moment that many of them think Andrew is in the wrong, rather that he's made unfortunate choices and been harshly punished.

I don’t for a minute believe they do think he’ll ever be accepted back into the fold again. And I doubt they even want to be around him also. They’ve chosen their battles when it comes to the funeral and I suspect once it’s over he’ll know without any doubt at all that Charles and William mean business when it comes to him.

Blossomtoes · 12/09/2022 20:34

This needs to be a lesson to the Royal family that the public will never accept him back into the fold.

I think they’ve known that for some time. I think they find him a total embarrassment but how do you stop a man taking part in his mother’s funeral? The tragedy is that this is all being played out so publicly. This is his swan song, we won’t see much of him after Monday.

Lampzade · 12/09/2022 20:34

I think what annoys me about Andrew is his apparent lack of shame or remorse.
I don’t have an issue with him grieving for his mother, what I found galling was his attention seeking behaviour . Praying hands and all that in an cynical attempt to garner sympathy
He is a horrible, odious creature who deserves to be kicked out of the Royal Family.
I hope that after the period of mourning , the public will not have to see his face anytime soon.

ParkheadParadise · 12/09/2022 20:37

Charles was friends with Jimmy Saville
Andrew isn't the only prick in the family.

For the Royal Family, their annus horribilus is just beginning.

Absolutely
In the words of Ronald Reagan They ‘ ain’t seen nothing yet’

I understand that he'd want to settle, but no one settles for £12m unless there's a depth of evidence against them. PA will have had the best lawyers/negotiators in the world putting this deal together. If the evidence was scant and the liklihood of him winning in court high, the victim would have settled for much less.

If the evidence was scant etc, he wouldn't have offered such a huge sum, surely?

Anyone with an ounce of sensitivity would understand it was just not the done thing

If Andrew had an ounce of sensitivity he would have kept out of the public eye. As a PP has said - he could have slipped discreetly into the cathedral.

Century123 · 12/09/2022 20:38

I was there today quite close to this. Completely disrespectful and disgraceful. Ruined people's experience who wanted to pay their respects. It broke the complete silence and was frightening. Time and place

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 12/09/2022 20:39

vile thread full of hysterical misinformation.

Contrary to those wishing to rewrite history and with seemingly no grasp of definition, he is not a paedophile. He slept with a 17 year old girl, and however distasteful we find that, it is not in the same league as paedophilia.

Secondly, his mother has died. Regardless of what people think, he has the right to grieve his mother, and his family have the right to all be together at this point.

The man who heckled was rightfully arrested. This isn’t freedom of speech, it’s twattery of the highest order.

Andrew has for the most part stepped out of the public eye. But he is the queen’s son and has the right to be with his mother’s procession in public.

If you look on Twitter , it's trending.

There is a short video of Rory , hand cuffed and flanked by two policemen

Rory ' powerful men should not be allowed to commit sexual crimes and get away with it '

@Novella4 excellent! I'm really pleased about that - some of the comments on this thread have depressed me tbh, glad Twitter is holding him to account.
